Pierce Brosnan willing to return to James Bond "in a heartbeat"; deets inside
Actor
Pierce Brosnan
, who famously portrayed James Bond in four films between 1995 and 2002, has expressed his willingness to return to the iconic spy franchise, even joking about playing a senior citizen version of 007.
In a recent interview, Brosnan shared that he would consider reprising the role if an opportunity came along, especially under the direction of
Denis Villeneuve
.
"I don't think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond, but if Villeneuve had something up his sleeve, I would look at it in a heartbeat. Why not? It's great entertainment. It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics... who knows?" he said, as quoted by Variety.
The actor also revealed that both he and his wife are looking forward to seeing who will be cast as the next James Bond.
"I have been listening to the drumbeat of expectation of who's going to be the next James Bond. There are many great candidates out there, and I'm sure they're going to make it a spectacle of delight," he said.
Brosnan starred as 007 in 'GoldenEye,' 'Tomorrow Never Dies,' 'The World is Not Enough,' and 'Die Another Day' before he decided to hang up the tuxedo.
The actor is gearing up for the upcoming film, 'The Thursday Murder Club,' the Netflix adaptation of Richard Osman's novels about a group of pensioners who solve crimes together.
His co-star, Helen Mirren, also hopped on the Bond conversation and stated that it "has to be a guy. James Bond has to be James Bond, otherwise it becomes something else," as quoted by Deadline.
Earlier this year, Brosnan also emphasised that the next Bond should be British.
Meanwhile, numerous names have been circulating as potential candidates to be cast as the next 007 after
Daniel Craig
stepped down in 2021. The likes of
Tom Holland
, Jacob Elordi, and
Harris Dickinson
are said to be among the top choices.
Set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film is currently in development.

Netflix's 'The Ba***ds Of Bollywood' Preview: Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan makes a smashing directorial debut with a whacky show

Shah Rukh Khan introduced the cast of the show in his inimitable style and playful humour, including Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari The preview of Netflix's The Ba***ds of Bollywood hints at a show that's fast-paced, set in a stylised yet chaotic world, laced with self-aware humour, and a tongue-in-cheek tone. It's the ultimate underdog story that asks: how far will you go for your dream, what are you willing to lose, and can you survive a few Bollywood baddies along the way (pun totally intended!) Shah Rukh Khan introduced the cast of the show in his inimitable style and playful humour, including Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, and Vijayant Kohli with Rajat Bedi and Gautami Kapoor—all of whom shared insights into their characters and experience shooting this cheeky, no-filter series. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD In a moment that had the crowd buzzing, Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan took the stage to introduce the world of The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Aryan spoke about creating a story inspired by real emotions and human ambition, saying, 'With The Ba***ds of Bollywood, I wanted to build a world that feels alive, a mix of glitz and grit, where ambition shines, egos clash, and nothing is ever as it seems. In Netflix, we found a partner who shared our creative vision—helping us tell the story exactly how it needed to be told, raw, stylised, and something the world has never experienced before.' Shah Rukh Khan reflected on the pride of watching a new voice emerge, 'It's a proud moment to see Aryan carve out his vision with such clarity and edge. This is storytelling that's sharp, self-aware, and unapologetically bold, and I think audiences on Netflix will connect to the heart of it as much as its style.' The show boasts off cameos by Karan Johar, Salman Khan, and Ranveer Singh, and is all set to release on September 18.

To pick up National Award, I need only one hand: Shah Rukh on shoulder injury

Mumbai, Aug 20 (PTI) Shah Rukh Khan's shoulder injury on the sets of "King"did not stop the actor on Wednesday from cracking a joke about it and son Aryan Khan's directorial debut with a new Netflix show. The superstar, who won the National Award for best actor for his role in 2023's "Jawan", assured fans that he will recover soon after his surgery and won't face any problems in picking up the award. "I suffered an injury on my shoulder. I went through a small surgery, actually not small but it was quite big, and now it will take one or two months to recover. 'National award uthane ke liye mera ek hi haath kaafi hai' (But to pick up the national award, I only need one hand," the actor said at the preview launch of "The Ba***ds of Bollywood". "Actually, I'm able to do most of the things with one hand -- eat food, brush my teeth and scratch the back of my head. But I face difficulty in one thing -- in taking all of your love (aap sab ka pyaar batorne ke liye)," he said, referring to his signature arms spread wide pose. Shah Rukh's right hand was in a sling at the event where he introduced the cast of Aryan's show. Known for his witty comebacks, the 59-year-old actor also didn't shy away from joking about his son's directorial project. "When Aryan told me that he is going to do a show about Bollywood which will be raw, edgy and with a bit of madness, then I wondered -- is he going to upload the CCTV footage from Mannat on YouTube?" he said. Shah Rukh then praised the newcomer for creating something fresh and unique. "I will be honest that it took me a while to really catch on. And when I caught on, I was really drawn in. I'm really happy about it. And not only about the show, but the entire cast that has come together to tell this story because it is the characters that breathe life into a story and create magic on screen," he added. The series will premiere on the streaming platform on September 18. The show, described as a genre-defying series that blends self-awareness with cheeky humour, stars Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor. The FIRST first look for the show Earlier this year, Shah Rukh Khan unveiled his son Aryan Khan's debut series The Ba***ds of Bollywood at a Netflix event. Produced under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, the makers have dropped a title reveal video of a series in which Shah Rukh is seen enacting a scene before the camera. In the video, Aryan donned a director's cap for the act. In the clip, Aryan continuously interrupted the Jawan actor as he performed before the camera. Furious by the constant interruption, SRK yells at the crew and Aryan, asking them to learn from him. The title announcement video ended on a funny note when Aryan informed SRK that he had forgotten to record the act from the camera throughout the entire shoot. To announce the preview's release, Aryan starred in another promotional video earlier this week, in which he said, 'Bollywood - jisse aapne saalon se pyaar bhi kiya aur vaar bhi kiya, main bhi wohi karunga, bohot saara pyaar… aur thoda sa vaar. (You have loved Bollywood and also attacked it. I will do the same, give it a lot of love and a little attack).'
