Next JAMES BOND Film Lands PEAKY BLINDERS Creator Steven Knight as Screenwriter — GeekTyrant
This follows the recent news that Denis Villeneuve has signed on to direct the film, giving the project some serious creative firepower. The film is being produced by Amy Pascal of Pascal Pictures and David Heyman of Heyday Films, with Tanya Lapointe serving as executive producer.
Ever since Amazon secured full creative control of the James Bond franchise in a major joint venture with longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, they've been laser-focused on assembling a top-tier team.
First came Pascal and Heyman. Then came a wave of meetings with high-profile directors that led to Villeneuve landing the gig. The final piece of the puzzle was a screenwriter, and Knight rose to the top after weeks of discussions.
According to insiders, 'a final sign-off could not be given until he met with Villeneuve, who is currently filming the next Dune film. Insiders say that meeting finally took place in the last week, with Villeneuve fully on board for Knight to get the job.'
While rumors about the next Bond actor continue to swirl, don't expect any official casting news soon. Villeneuve is focusing on wrapping Dune: Part Three , and Knight is now diving into the script.
Knight is no stranger to srong prestige storytelling. In addition to Peaky Blinders starring Cillian Murphy, he's created or written acclaimed series like the Emmy-nominated Taboo ( BBC/FX ), See ( Apple TV+ ), SAS Rogue Heroes ( BBC ), A Thousand Blows ( Disney+ ), This Town ( BBC ), The Veil ( FX ), and All the Light We Cannot See ( Netflix ), which earned a Golden Globe nod for Best Limited Series.
His film credits include Dirty Pretty Things , which won four BIFAs and earned an Oscar nomination for Original Screenplay, as well as Eastern Promises , Spencer , and his own directed features Hummingbird , Locke , and Serenity .
Beyond film and TV, Knight co-created Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? , has published four novels, helped craft the 2022 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, and was honored with a CBE in 2020. In 2023, the Royal Television Society awarded him a Fellowship for his contributions to UK television.
With Villeneuve directing and Knight writing, Amazon MGM is building a seriously exciting creative foundation for the next era of James Bond . Stay tuned as this team shapes the next 007 adventure.

Tony Hadley dismisses the prospect of a Spandau Ballet reunion
Tony Hadley doubts that a Spandau Ballet reunion would work. The 65-year-old singer quit as lead singer of the True band in 2017 due to "circumstances beyond my control" and was surprised to hear his ex-bandmate Gary Kemp suggest earlier this year that he would like to do another tour. Tony told Classic Pop magazine: "Really? That's news to me. "I don't think it would work. I haven't seen Gary, Martin (Kemp) or John (Keeble) in eight years. Steve (Norman) is the only one I'm vaguely in contact with. "We had some good times, but unfortunately there were some bad times as well. That's just life. We had some good laughs on the last tour, then unfortunately John fell ill and it wasn't the same without him. That was difficult." Tony doesn't want animosity amongst his former Spandau Ballet bandmates but is happy to be focusing on his solo career now. He said: "I wish Gary, Martin and John well, but I'm happy doing what I'm doing. I love the freedom I have now, the fact I can go from a bit of swing to a bit of rock. You can't do that within the confines of a band." Spandau Ballet had a huge hit with Gold in 1983 and Tony believes that the track continues to be popular as it is easy for people to sing along to. He explained: "You can't fail with Gold. There are times I get distracted singing it. I will suddenly come to and think: 'God, what's the second verse?' I get round it by going: 'Right, you lot can sing it...' However, Tony is still baffled that the band chose not to perform the song during their set at Live Aid in 1985. The singer said: "My one issue with Gold is, why didn't we play it at Live Aid? I think it's because we didn't think we could reproduce the orchestral touches at Wembley. Whatever, it didn't make any sense to me why we didn't do it." Hadley has been involved in music for over 40 years and believes that his distinctive voice has been pivotal to his success. He explained: "I've always had a big voice and it's always sounded like me. That gives me an identity, whether you like my voice or not. "My influences are all brilliant voices, but I'm not interested in technicality. Loads of singers can do more vocal twiddles than me and are technically better, but that's not what I'm interested in."

Mates outraged as Airbnb host rejects Manchester booking because they're from Wales
Two music fans planning a visit to Manchester say they were left gobsmacked after an Airbnb host rejected their booking – because they're Welsh. Jemma Louise Gough, 38, and her best mate Jamie Lee Watkins, 37, will be travelling to the city from Cwmbran, South Wales, to see the Australian music producer Sonny Fodera at the Co-op Live Arena. The pair had been trying to book a double room for one night at a property in Manchester for the show in November. They wrote they were coming 'from Wales to see the gig'. Never miss a story with the MEN's daily Catch Up newsletter - get it in your inbox by signing up here An hour after requesting the booking, they got an email saying it had been rejected. Asked why their booking had been cancelled, the host responded with the message: "Because you're from WALES." Mum-of-two Jemma, who works as a school support officer, said: "We had an email that our booking had been declined and we were getting a refund. "We wrote 'Hi, can I ask why it's been declined?', with a kiss, very politely. [They] wrote 'because you're from Wales', in capital letters. Never miss a story with the MEN's daily Catch Up newsletter - get it in your inbox by signing up here "My mouth hit the floor – nothing else other than 'because you're from Wales'. It was nothing about us going to the concert or whatever, it was just discrimination of the country. "We're amazing people, the Welsh are lush. I don't know what me and my friend - or the whole of Wales - did that's so horrible. "It's absolutely horrendous." Jamie asked the host for further explanation as to why they'd had their booking rejected, saying it was 'discrimination under the Equality Act 2010'. She said her message was read, but received no response. Registered nurse Jamie, who attempted to make the booking through her account, said: "I just thought, 'oh my gosh, how can you say no just because I'm from Wales?'. "It was really blunt, just one line: because you are from, in capitals, Wales. What difference does that make? I was just a bit shocked really that people still say things like that. "If [they] had said 'I don't want people going to concerts and coming back if they'd had a drink or something, I'd be like yeah, okay, that's fine. That's an explanation." Jemma decided to make an Instagram and Facebook reel complaining about the discrimination she and her friend had received. An Airbnb spokesperson said: "Discrimination, including on the basis of nationality, has no place on Airbnb. As soon as this report was brought to our attention, we reached out to the guest to provide our support and suspended the host while we investigate this matter." The host declined to comment.
