Asia Cup 2025: ACC writes to BCCI to confirm schedule amid fears of revenue loss

India Today9 hours ago
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding finalising the Asia Cup schedule at the earliest, citing concerns from media rights holders and sponsors over potential revenue losses.Uncertainty over the Asia Cup schedule has raised serious concerns amongst sponsors and media rights holders. Both the sponsors and the ACC are urging the BCCI to finalise the schedule by the end of this week. advertisementIndia Today has accessed the email trail between the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the BCCI, media rights holders, and sponsors. In one of the communications, the ACC stated:
'We have been informed that, in the absence of this information, their ability to plan effectively, allocate resources, and execute their campaigns is significantly constrained.'In addition to highlighting the challenges being faced, the media rights partner has also referred to obligations under the Agreement that begin 60 to 90 days prior to the start of the 2025 tournament.'"Our sponsorship rights partner, TCM, has outlined significant commercial concerns, particularly regarding the timelines required for effective monetization and activation planning.'Additionally, with several major ICC and international events scheduled around the same period, both Sony and TCM have expressed apprehension that any further delays could lead to missed commercial opportunities - losses that may be irrecoverable due to scheduling constraints and limited lead time.advertisement'In light of this, and considering that fixtures for other major tournaments have already been confirmed, we are keen to address the concerns of our rights holders by finalising the Asia Cup schedule within this week. This matter holds particular importance for the ACC, as the Men's Asia Cup serves as its primary source of revenue.'We believe any further delays could potentially expose us to claims of breach of agreement from our partners, who may seek compensation or request discounts as a result."India to play in the Asia Cup? Back in May, sources told India Today that India was unlikely to play in or host the Asia Cup 2025 due to escalating tensions with Pakistan. Despite this uncertainty, Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) - which acquired the media rights for Asia Cup events in 2024 for a reported USD 170 million over eight years - recently released a promotional video featuring India's Suryakumar Yadav. Bangladesh's Najmul Hossain Shanto and Sri Lanka's Charith Asalanka also appear in the promo. If India eventually pulls out of the tournament, the Asia Cup is likely to be cancelled altogether. With Mohsin Naqvi currently serving as the ACC Chairman, the financial fallout from such a cancellation would fall under his leadership.- EndsMust Watch

Silver Price Outlook 2025: Will Silver Continue To Shine More After A Record Run?

Last Updated: Silver Price Outlook 2025: The outlook for silver over the next 6–12 months is positive, with expectations of increase in silver prices. Silver Price Outlook 2025: The silver price saw a rally in 2025 to reach a record 13-year high, especially in the last two months embroiled with geopolitical uncertainty due to India-Pakistan and Iran-Israel tensions and supply-demand constraints. On a Year-To-Date basis, Silver rose almost 22.25 per cent to reach USD 36.11 per ounce in 2025. At the start of the year, it hovered in the price range of USD 26-28 per ounce. Analysts say factors such as buoyant industrial demand and supply constraints due to geopolitical tensions could be the major factor in pushing the silver price in north. Even as global tensions ease and equity markets strengthen, silver maintains its relevance due to sustained industrial consumption and constrained supply, said Aksha Kamboj, VP, India Bullion & Jewellers Association (IBJA) and Executive Chairperson, Aspect Global Ventures. Is Silver Still Cheaper Than Gold? Experts believe that silver is still cheaper than gold despite the rally to hit 13-year high. They see the upside potential in the near future to give good returns. The gold-silver ratio has dropped from above 100 to about 93, showing that silver has been gaining compared to gold. Silver is still trading well below its 2011 peak of $50, and we believe there is still room for further upside in the current market, argued Satish Dondapati, fund manager of Kotak AMC. Currently trading around Rs 110,000 per kg, Kamboj explained, silver is increasingly seen not just as a lower-cost safe haven, but as a vital industrial metal essential to sectors such as solar energy, electronics, and clean technology. She added while gold embodies tradition and wealth preservation, silver offers accessibility and growth potential making it not just a secondary choice, but a strategic complement. Silver Future Outlook 2025 The outlook for silver over the next 6–12 months is positive, with expectations of increase in silver prices driven by strong industrial demand, supply constraints, weakening US dollar and macroeconomic factors, said Dondapati. Dondapati said if it drops further to 70, silver could reach around $48.57 per ounce. He added silver has strong long-term potential, but investors should be cautious of risks like high price volatility, a stronger U.S. dollar, or rising interest rates.

Asia Cup 2025 schedule finalised, India vs Pakistan clash set for 7 September: Report

The wait for Asia Cup could be coming to an end soon as all the participating nations, includin hosts India, are likely to get clearances from their respective governments soon, according to a report in the Times of India. Reportedly, all matches of the upcoming tournament will be played in UAE and the tournament will kick off from 5 September. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and UAE will be the six nations participating in the upcoming tournament which will be played in the group stage and Super Fours format. This would mean that the high octane India vs Pakistan will be played at least two times in the tournament with the second clash set to be played on 14 September. The Asia Cup will be played in T20I format and the penutimate clash will played on 21 September. Reportedly, the promotional activities for the tournament have already begun with official broadcasters Sony recently sharing a poster for the multi-nation tournament. Notably, there were question marks about the tournament especially after the recent escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of Operation Sindoor. However, if Asia Cup continues as planned it would send a message for all future international tournaments as well. Earlier this year, there were reports that India may pull out of Asia Cup due to the cross border tensions but BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia had refuted those claims in a statement in May. He said, "Since this morning, it has come to our notice about some news items about BCCI's decision not to participate in the Asia Cup and Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup, both ACC events. Such news is devoid of any truth as till now, the BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps regarding the ensuing ACC events, leave alone writing anything to the ACC,"
