As per early estimates, Maalik collected Rs 1.34 crore on its fourth day at the box office — its lowest single-day earnings so far. But given it was a Monday, the dip in footfall isn't entirely unexpected. The film opened with Rs 3.75 crore on Friday. Over the weekend, it gained some momentum, bringing in Rs 5.25 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. With Monday's numbers in, Maalik's total collection now stands at Rs 15.59 crore. While the weekday drop was anticipated, the film will need steady numbers through the week. On Monday, Maalik recorded an overall 8.22 per cent Hindi occupancy in theatres. Despite the dip, Rajkummar Rao's political drama is faring better than Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan, which stars Vikrant Massey and marks Shanaya Kapoor's debut. That film has struggled to make a mark since day one. However, both Hindi releases are facing a tough challenge from the international juggernaut Superman, starring David Corenswet. The superhero film has already raked in over Rs 25 crore in India over its opening weekend. Directed by Pulkit, Maalik stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead role. The film also features Bengali cinema icon Prosenjit Chatterjee, former Miss World Manushi Chhillar, and Saurabh Sachdeva.
