Virginia Tech Football Preview 2025: Hokies Season Prediction, Win Total Projection, Top Players
Virginia Tech Hokies Key to the Season
Block someone. We did this already in the offensive section, but it really is everything. The Hokies struggled way too much to consistently get the passing game going, the third-down conversions weren't there, and the time of possession battle wasn't a plus. That all came from the problems with pass protection and tackles for loss allowed. So ...

Virginia Tech Hokies Key Player
Lucas Austin, OT RFr.Of someone to dominate at a tackle spot. Xavier Chaplin was one of the top players in the transfer portal - more on that in a moment - and he needs to be replaced at left tackle. It'll take fall camp to figure it out, but if Austin plays like he's supposed to after coming over from West Virginia, this becomes a far easier puzzle to put together, helped by ...
Virginia Tech Hokies Top Transfer, Biggest Transfer Loss
Top Transfer In: Thomas Rimac, OG Sr.To be way too basic about it, Virginia Tech horked a slew of good West Virginia linemen who took off rather than be a part of the Rich Rodriguez offensive style. Also, the Hokies had an offensive line that needed fixing. The 6-6, 317-pound Rimac is a two-time All-Big 12 Honorable Mention guard who'll step right in.Top Transfer Out: Xavier Chaplin, OT Sr.It was sort of an odd thing. The Virginia Tech pass protection wasn't good, the running game wasn't strong enough, but the line had a few star talents to work around. The 6-7, 338-pound Chaplin was an all-star at left tackle with the NFL size and skills. Now he'll be a key part of the Auburn offense.
Virginia Tech Hokies Key Game
at North Carolina State, Sept. 27Virginia Tech beat NC State 11-6 early in the 1902 season, and overall, it's been able to take its share of wins, but the Wolfpack have won the last two in 2022 and 2023. This year it's the ACC opener, and with nasty road games ahead against Georgia Tech and Florida State, picking off an away date right away is a must.- 2025 Virginia Tech Schedule Breakdown

Virginia Tech Hokies 2025 Season Prediction, Win Total, What Will Happen
It's not a totally unmanageable schedule, but it'll take several big breaks to come up with something big.Clemson, SMU, Pitt, and a don't-laugh-but-really nasty Duke off the slate. It's not right in any way that the Wolfpack don't play North Caroline, but that's for another time. The Hokies also miss the Notre Dame part-time ACC thing, too.And if Florida State and NC State play like they did last season, the road games are a relative breeze with three of the four in the ACC against teams that finished with losing records, and the other against Georgia Tech.
But NC State will be better, and so will Florida State. However, the Hokies only leave Virginia once after October 11th, the opener against South Carolina is in Atlanta, the Vanderbilt game is at home, and there isn't any one date on the slate that's a 100% sure-thing no-chance loss.At least for now, though, there are too many 50/50 games that lean loss. It'll be a bowl season, but everything has to work perfectly for anything more.Set The Virginia Tech Win Total At … 6.5Likely Wins: Old Dominion, Wofford50/50 Games: Cal, at Florida State, at Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, at NC State, South Carolina (in Atlanta), Vanderbilt, at Virginia, Wake ForestLikely Losses: No Projected Sure-Thing Losses 2025 Virginia Tech PreviewVirginia Tech Offense BreakdownVirginia Tech Defense Breakdown

Alex Bregman's promising injury update comes with a catch
The post Alex Bregman's promising injury update comes with a catch appeared first on ClutchPoints. Boston Red Sox infielder Alex Bregman is currently dealing with a quad injury. The Red Sox infielder is hoping to return sooner rather than later. On Friday, Bregman provided an encouraging update, however, he declined to provide an official injury timeline, via Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald. Advertisement 'Alex Bregman says his injury is healing faster than expected and he might not even need to go on a rehab assignment once he feels he's ready to play. Declined to offer any timetable, though he remains hopeful to return before the All-Star break,' Cerullo wrote on X, formerly Twitter. The lack of an official timeline for a return leaves the situation somewhat uncertain. However, Bregman's comments about his injury healing at a faster rate than expected is promising without question. Bregman's injury situation will continue to receive updates over the next few weeks. If he does indeed return before the All-Star break, though, the infielder could be back within the next month. The 31-year-old — who is in his first season in Boston — was hitting .299/.385/.553 through 51 games before suffering the injury. Bregman also hit 11 home runs and 17 doubles to go along with 35 RBI and a .938 OPS. Advertisement In other words, Alex Bregman was making the adjustment to a new team without much trouble. He played in Houston with the Astros for his entire career (2016-2024) before the '25 campaign, so some wondered how he would perform in Boston. The results were certainly encouraging before he endured the injury. Barring any setbacks, Bregman should be able to re-join the Red Sox's lineup within the next few weeks. Boston needs the boost — the Red Sox currently hold a 34-36 record which places them fourth in the American League East standings. We will continue to monitor and provide updates on Alex Bregman's injury status as they are made available. Fever Coach Stephanie White's Curious Reaction to Caitlin Clark Being Named All-Star Captain
Fever Coach Stephanie White's Curious Reaction to Caitlin Clark Being Named All-Star Captain originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The WNBA announced on Sunday that Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark emerged as the top vote-recipient after the second round of fan voting for the upcoming All-Star Game in Indianapolis. Advertisement Considering the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year's unmatched popularity, it is no surprise that Clark received the most fan votes among all players in the league. Fever head coach Stephanie White did not seem surprised by the news, either. In fact, the veteran shot-caller was more curious about how Clark would handle her duties as team captain. 'You saw it with the NBA and the ability for fans to show up and show out,' White said, via Joshua Heron of IndyStar. 'Caitlin being able to be a captain, she's going to put on her GM hat. We'll see how that works out for her." Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark during a game. Grace Smith/INDIANAPOLIS STAR-Imagn Images Being a captain will require Clark to pick her own team in the All-Star Game draft. Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier came in second in the fan voting, which means that she will captain the opposing team. Clark and Collier will exchange picks as they build their respective 11-woman rosters. Advertisement White is already looking forward to Clark playing the role of a team general manager as the 23-year-old gets to create her own squad from scratch. On top of that, White also expressed her excitement over the festivities, which, for the first time in league history, will take place in Indianapolis. "What an outstanding opportunity for our city to show up, to show love to the players in the WNBA and embrace what we love, and that's basketball,' White said. Aaron Judge provides the perfect response to Yankees' June swoon
Aaron Judge provides the perfect response to Yankees' June swoon originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Despite a 14–13 record in June and a six-game losing streak that left the team struggling offensively, Yankees captain Aaron Judge is keeping his focus sharp on the ultimate goal. Advertisement In a 12-5 win over the Athletics at Yankee Stadium, Judge delivered two towering home runs, his 29th and 30th of the season, helping lead the offense back to life. But when asked for a state of the team, Judge kept his answer simple and direct. 'Are we in first place?" Judge asked the reporter when the June swoon was mentioned. "That's what we're concerned about." The Yankees go into Toronto on Monday with a 1.5 game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the division Judge's comment is typical Judge. He didn't get sucked into the panic outside the clubhouse. The Yankees had a hot start to the season and came back to earth. He's been through it before and knows what matters. Advertisement Despite enduring an offensive slump this month, the team remains laser-focused on the larger picture. Judge's two home runs Sunday not only sparked the Yankees' offense but also pushed them one step closer to maintaining their position atop the division. 'Nothing really can shake this team on the inside or kind of get us off our game plan. We got a job to do every single day, and sometimes it goes our way, sometimes it doesn't, but the guys in this room are ready to show up and compete every single night.' Judge's calm demeanor, and his bat for the most part, have been steady through what has been a rollercoaster first half of the season for the Yankees. Advertisement As the Yankees head into the final stretch before the All-Star break, Judge's unwavering approach at the plate and when facing questions about slumps will be key.
