Tributes paid to 'devoted' man killed in crash in Peterborough

A man who died when his car crashed with a lorry "gave us everything, and asked for nothing", his family has said. Steven Bowden, 64, of Framlingham Road, Park Farm, Peterborough, died when his white BMW 320 was in collision with a lorry on the A605 between Elton and Peterborough at about 12:45 BST on 14 July.Mr Bowden was pronounced dead at the scene of the five-vehicle crash, and the driver of a Mercedes, a woman in her 60s, was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries.Mr Bowden's family said he was "a devoted husband, father and grandfather".
In the statement released through Cambridgeshire Police, the family said: "It's not every day you meet someone who genuinely puts others first."He was a devoted husband to Ade, the kind who remembered anniversaries and could still recall what they both wore on their first date. "As a father to Samantha and Shaun, he was the kind of man who could fix anything, never the Wi-Fi though, but he tried."They added: "So, here's to the man who gave us everything, and asked for nothing, and somehow made selflessness look effortless. "We'll always be together - you've left your mark on all of us in the best possible way."Police have been appealing for witnesses following the collision.

Woman killed and man injured in crash near Inverness Airport

A woman has died and a man has been critically injured in a crash between a car and a van near Inverness Airport. A red Vauxhall Insignia car and a white Ford Transit Tipper van collided on the A96 Inverness to Nairn road a mile east of the airport roundabout at about 15:30 on passenger of the car, a 65-year-old woman, died at the scene. The 69-year-old driver of the car was taken to Raigmore Hospital, where his condition is described as critical. The driver of the van was road was closed while an investigation was carried out and reopened at about 23: Kate Finlayson appealed for witnesses or drivers with dash cam footage to contact police. She added: "Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the woman who has died, and we are carrying out inquiries to establish the full circumstances."
