Couple nabbed for stealing over RM100,000 in jewellery from shop
SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested a couple in Bandar Puncak Alam, Kuala Selangor, in connection with the recent theft of jewellery worth about RM111,743 from a goldsmith's shop in Shah Alam.
Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said police also recovered the stolen jewellery following the arrest of the couple, aged 25 and 23, at 3.20 pm on Friday.
'Both suspects are unemployed and have no prior criminal records. Initial urine tests returned negative for drugs.
'The suspects have been remanded for four days until tomorrow (May 5), and the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code,' he said in a statement today.
A two-minute and 26-second CCTV clip has gone viral on TikTok, showing a man and a woman stealing a gold bracelet and ring from a jewellery store in Shah Alam.

Negri anti-drug agency officers did not follow SOP during raid, says EAIC
PUTRAJAYA: The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) says that several officers from the Negri Sembilan National Anti-Drugs Agency failed to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) during an operation at Kampung Felda LBJ, Labu, on March 8, 2023. In a statement on Tuesday (June 10), EAIC said several individuals who tested positive for drugs were released during the operation, which is an offence under Section 221 of the Penal Code. Following this, the EAIC said it referred its findings to the Public Prosecutor under subparagraph 30(1)(c) of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission Act 2009. The EAIC also said that the officers' misconduct would be referred to its disciplinary authority with a recommendation for disciplinary action under subparagraph 30(1)(b) of the EAIC Act. Previously, the EAIC had received a complaint over the release of several individuals who tested positive for drugs during the raid. An investigation was then conducted based on the complaint in accordance with subsection 27(4) of the EAIC Act. – Bernama

Court sets further mention on July 9 for Bukit Aman cop accused of fatal Jalan Stephen Yong shooting

Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan issued the order to allow the prosecution time to obtain the chemistry report and other forensic reports, which have yet to be completed. Prosecuting officer Insp Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin informed the court that the investigation officer had advised that the ballistic and post-mortem reports are expected to take approximately two months to finalise. However, counsel Russell Lim from the National Legal Aid Foundation, who is representing the 30-year-old accused, requested an earlier mention date to enable the prosecution to update the court on the case's progress. Lim further submitted that the case is of public interest and considered high-profile. Genesis is also represented by foundation lawyers Brendan Ting and Zoe Chan. The court also ordered for Genesis to be further remanded at Puncak Borneo Prison. According to the charge, Genesis allegedly murdered Muhammad Zaki Iderus, 34, by shooting at him on Jalan Stephen Yong. The charge is framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The Section provides for the death penalty, or if not sentenced to death, imprisonment for a term of between 30 and 40 years, along with no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane, upon conviction. Earlier reports stated that on April 26, two men arrived at the Batu Kawa police station at around 5.30am and informed the authorities that their friend had been shot while travelling on Jalan Stephen Yong. Police later found the victim had died from a gunshot wound to the head.
