Man injured after being rammed by car at burger stall
KUALA LUMPUR: A 39-year-old man was injured when a car crashed into him while he eating at a burger stall on Sunday evening. The incident, which occurred at 7pm in Section 17, Shah Alam, involved a Proton Wira driven by a 55-year-old man. Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the driver lost control of the vehicle, hit a road divider and ploughed into the victim, who was seated at a table at the stall. The victim suffered broken ribs and back injuries. The driver was arrested and taken to Shah Alam Hospital for alcohol and drug tests. Police are investigating the case under Section 44(1)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Anyone with information is urged to contact Inspector Abdul Nasser Peping at 012-286 3875.

Charred remains of man found inside 4WD that burst into flames
SHAH ALAM: The charred remains of a man was found inside a four-wheel-drive when the vehicle that he was driving burst into flames after crashing into a tree at Persiaran Kuala Langat heading towards Persiaran Hulu Langat here at 4.45am this morning. Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said investigations revealed that the four-wheel-drive (4WD) driven by the 49-year-old local man had lost control before hitting a tree on the left shoulder of the road which caused the vehicle to catch fire. 'The victim is believed to have been trapped inside the vehicle and did not manage to get out before the fire spread and burned the entire vehicle. 'The fire was then successfully extinguished by officers and personnel from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station,' he said in a statement today. Mohd Iqbal said the victim's body was then taken to the Shah Alam Hospital for post-mortem and the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. He urged witnesses to contact the Investigating Officer Inspector Zaharizul Zamri of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters, at 019-3229097 to assist in the investigation.

Beggar charged at hospital bed with murdering another beggar
KUALA LUMPUR: The Shah Alam Hospital observation ward briefly turned into a magistrate's courtroom today when a 28-year-old beggar was charged with murder. Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the accused, Mohamad Fauzan Adib Abd Aziz, nodded to indicate that he understood the charge after it was read out to him. Iqbal said the closed-door proceedings at 10.22am was presided over by Shah Alam Court assistant registrar Mislia Mohd Aris. Fauzan, who was unrepresented, was accused of stabbing to death another beggar, aged 40, outside a bank in Section 18, allegedly over a turf dispute. No plea was recorded as murder cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court. Deputy public prosecutor Alia Anisa Khairus Masnan prosecuted. The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death penalty or imprisonment not less than 30 years and not exceeding 40 years upon conviction. June 9 was set for mention at the Shah Alam magistrate's court. On April 24, Iqbal said the incident occurred at 12pm when the suspect went to solicit money at his usual spot. A verbal altercation broke out between the suspect and the victim. He said the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times in the chest. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was arrested in the same area. Police checks found that the suspect had nine criminal records. He tested negative for drugs.

Couple nabbed over Shah Alam jewellery shop heist
SHAH ALAM: A couple was detained in connection with a jewellery shop heist here last month, which resulted in over RM100,000 in losses. Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the 25-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were detained in Bandar Puncak Alam at about 3.20pm on Friday. 'Some of the jewellery had been pawned and sold but we managed to recover them in Klang. 'We also seized the suspects' mobile phones. Both suspects are jobless and they did not have any prior criminal records,' he said in a statement. The suspects have been remanded until today, he added. 'We believe both of them needed the money (from the sale of the stolen jewellery) to start a new life together. 'We are investigating under Section 380 of the Penal Code,' he said. He urged those with information to contact assistant investigating officer Sjn Prabagaran Nair at 011-26294419. It was reported that over RM100,000 in valuables were swiped after a couple robbed a jewellery store here. ACP Mohd Iqbal had said that the heist happened on April 26 where the two suspects had entered the shop under the pretense of buying jewellery. 'When the complainant was busy showing the wares of the shop, the female suspect then stole several pieces without the worker's knowledge. 'The loss of jewellery was only noticed after inspecting the CCTV footage, which showed the woman in the act while the worker was not paying attention,' he said.

Couple nabbed for stealing over RM100,000 in jewellery from shop
SHAH ALAM, May 4 — Police have arrested a couple in Bandar Puncak Alam, Kuala Selangor, in connection with the recent theft of jewellery worth about RM111,743 from a goldsmith's shop in Shah Alam. Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said police also recovered the stolen jewellery following the arrest of the couple, aged 25 and 23, at 3.20 pm on Friday. 'Both suspects are unemployed and have no prior criminal records. Initial urine tests returned negative for drugs. 'The suspects have been remanded for four days until tomorrow (May 5), and the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code,' he said in a statement today. A two-minute and 26-second CCTV clip has gone viral on TikTok, showing a man and a woman stealing a gold bracelet and ring from a jewellery store in Shah Alam. — Bernama
