Iowa basketball star earns honorable mention All-Big Ten honors
It is the third honor of Sandfort's career as he was the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year as a sophomore and a third-team All-Big Ten selection as a junior.
Sandfort ended the regular season averaging 16.3 points on 40.0% shooting from the field and 6.3 rebounds per game, ranking second on the team in both categories. The senior also has a team-best 13 20-point games this season and ranks fourth in the conference with 74 3-point field goals made. Sandfort is shooting 32.6% from 3-point distance this season.

Sandfort has scored 505 points in the 2024-25 campaign, eclipsing the 500-point mark for a second consecutive season. Sandfort is the first Hawkeye since Luka Garza to accomplish the feat and he's the 12th in program history to have two 500-point seasons all-time.
The Waukee, Iowa, native currently ranks 13th in the program record books with 1,572 career points and is third all-time with 261 career 3-point field goals – just two shy of passing Jeff Horner for the No. 2 spot. He is one of two players in Iowa history to have 1,500+ points, 500+ rebounds and 250+ 3-point field goals.
Sandfort is also on track to break the program's all-time career free throw percentage record. He has made 89.5 percent (263-of-294) of his career attempts, which puts him on track to best Jordan Bohannon's school record of 88.7 percent.
The 15th-seeded Hawkeyes (16-15, 7-13 Big Ten) open their journey in the 2025 TIAA Big Ten Tournament with a first-round clash vs. 10th-seeded Ohio State (17-14, 9-11) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The game will stream on Peacock (subscription required) and is available on the airwaves through the Hawkeyes Radio Network.

A Notre Dame assistant was named to 247Sports 30under30, a national top young coaches list
If you follow Notre Dame football recruiting, you have heard about the impact that Jevaugh Codlin has had with multiple prospects. On Monday, the Irish analyst was named to 247Sports 30under30, highlighting the top coaches across the country that are under 30-years old. At 28, Codlin is a rising star in the profession, after spending the previous 2 years at West Virginia. He's helping with the defensive line in South Bend, as he worked with the secondary with the Mountaineers, but the impact has carried over. Chris Hummer, who compiled the list, said that 'there's never been another analyst who's had more people recommend him promoted and unprompted in the history of this list; both from sources I know well to established figures in the industry advocating out of the blue.' Head coach Marcus Freeman made another fantastic hire by poaching Codlin, and it has paid off immediately. In the 2026 recruiting class, Notre Dame has commitments from Rodney Dunham and Ebenezer Ewetade, two of the top edge rushers in the nation. Hopefully the Irish have a plan to keep Codlin happy, as he's going to be a wanted man over the next few years. Wisconsin quarterback commit to lead the top team in the country in 2025
Mater Dei (CA), Duncanville (TX) and North Crowley (TX) headline the updated National High School Football Top 25 via Massey Ratings👀Thoughts? ⬇️Read: Massey Ratings released their National High School Football top 25 for the upcoming football season early Monday morning, with Mater Dei (California) leading the way. As Badger fans may know, class of 2026 quarterback commit Ryan Hopkins is Mater Dei's starting quarterback this fall, seemingly in line for a successful senior year with the program. Hopkins committed to the Badgers in mid-April, choosing them over Missouri, Cal, and Duke. He remains verbally committed to Wisconsin even with new offers rolling in. The most recent of which came from the in-state UCLA Bruins, who joined his offer sheet on Saturday. These kinds of offers will likely continue to roll in until the early signing period in December. Still, head coach Luke Fickell and the rest of the Badgers staff seem confident that they will retain him. Hopkins and Mater Dei's season begins on Aug. 23 against St. Thomas Aquinas from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Texas A&M's first SEC opponent reportedly facing uncertainty at QB
Texas A&M's first SEC matchup during the 2025 season will be against the Auburn Tigers inside Kyle Field on Saturday, Sept. 27, after the Aggies' first bye week of the season. While defeating UTSA, Utah State, and Notre Dame on the road is coach Mike Elko's primary focus, Auburn's ongoing quarterback dilemma has likely piqued the interest of the staff before hosting the Tigers a little over a month from now. On Monday, 247Sports beat writer Nathan King released coach Hugh Freeze's brief quote regarding Auburn's QB uncertainty after King asked if three Auburn signal callers would see playing time during the Tigers' season-opener on the road against Baylor. The Bears return one of the better defenses in the Big 12, which could spell danger if Freeze can't decide on who will lead the offense. 'Yes. Yeah. There's strengths — you put on Ashton's film from Stanford, and he ran away from some really good teams.' This offseason, former five-star Oklahoma starting quarterback Jackson Arnold, who has yet to live up to his prolific recruiting ranking, transferred to Auburn with the hopes of regaining his swagger and playing with one of many of us consider to be the best wide receiver duos in college football with Cam Coleman and Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singelton Jr. Stanford transfer Ashton Daniels has also leaped this preseason, earning Freeze's praise. Still, having two elite receivers without a reliable quarterback is similar to Texas A&M's issues during the 2022 season, and the fact that Ashton Daniels and freshman Deuce Knight are neck and neck with Arnold does not sound great for the Tigers' offense. Either way, just like Notre Dame's uncertainty as the position before the Aggies travel to South Bend on Sept. 13, Mike Elko's veteran defense could enter both game with a significant advantage in the secondary.
