Glastonbury has banned one popular makeup - so we found some great alternatives

Daily Mirror7 hours ago

This year Glastonbury Festival has banned attendees from using glitter makeup, but don't despair, because we found some glitter-free alternatives to create your festival beauty look
If you're packing your bags for this year's Glastonbury Festival, there's one thing you should be leaving out – glitter. The organisers have banned all glitter makeup from being brought into the festival (including biodegradable types!), which means you may have to re-think those sparkly beauty looks you had planned.
Whilst you are allowed to buy biodegradable glitter from vendors once you're actually inside Worthy Farm, if you want to plan your makeup looks accordingly it might be time to think of a beauty plan B. So we've tracked down the best metallic looks that'll get you in the Glasto spirit without a hint of glitter in sight.
Sephora Collection Colorful Special Effects Multichrome Liquid Eyeshadow - £15.99
It doesn't get more metallic than these multichrome liquid eyeshadows from Sephora. The creamy texture and precise tip means you can apply them as a sharp cat eye, blend them out into a smudgy shadow or use them to create patterns and designs on your skin.
They also last up to 12 hours without smudging, which as anyone who's ever been to a festival knows, is a godsend. Choose from three different shades, and give yourself unlimited beauty looks with one handy product.
Violette FR Yeux Paint - £33
If you prefer a solid monochromatic look, Violette FR's Yeux Paints are a must-buy. There are eight metallic shades to choose from, and you can also pick up a matte shade that matches, letting you create infinite different looks.
They have a lightweight, buildable and blendable formula, and are crease-, smudge- and fade-proof, so they'll last through hours of dancing. You can use them for a subtle wash of colour, to create sharp, precise liner looks, or blend them into soft smokey eyes. And the best part is you don't even need a brush to apply them.
E.l.f Duochrome Liquid Eyeshadow - £8
For anyone wanting to top up their festival beauty bag on a budget, E.l.f's Duochrome Liquid Eyeshadows are perfect. There's a choice of four different shades which suit all skin tones, and each one is highly pigmented and has a metallic swatch of colour which shifts colour in the light.
The long-lasting gel-based formula should see you through hours of dancing whilst still feeling comfortable to wear, and you can use them to create a whole host of different multi-dimensional beauty looks that are perfect for festival season.
Glisten Cosmetics UV IT! Clear UV Eyeliner – £8.50
Maria Mukaranda, Beauty Editor at Cosmetify, also suggested that UV eyeliner is a great way to give your makeup that festival-inspired look without the glitter. The neon liner shows up under ultraviolet light – which there will be plenty of around Glasto – and brings an unexpected twist to your eye makeup.
You can mix it with your existing liner to add an extra element to your go-to makeup, or keep it clear and create everything from bold graphic liner to UV-activated freckles. To use it you just dip your liner brush in water and swirl it in the product, before applying it wherever you want to glow under the lights.

Glastonbury Festival: Day one in pictures

Under cloudy skies thousands of people descended on Glastonbury Festival earlier as music lovers spent the day carrying, pushing and pulling a weeks worth of possessions across the green grass and mud tracks of the founder Michael Eavis also put in a rare appearance much to the joy of those entering the site. Once at their chosen camping grounds it was time to relax and prepare for what's to come. Smiles all round: festival-goers happily lug their belongings across the farm as they head to where they plan to pitch their tent for the next five nights. A wheelie great idea: One man turned heads as he brought his festival gear onto the farm in a modified wheelie bin. A balancing act: People head into the festival with all of their belongings on their back. Happy campers: All smiles ahead of a weekend of great music. Opening ceremony: For the first time since 1990, the Festival will officially open with a Theatre and Circus act on the Pyramid Stage at 22:00 BST. Selfie stop at Carhenge: Got to remember these moments. Keeping it cool: Quality mother-and-daughter-time spent over an ice cream. Barking mad: The scrap metal dog returns to Carhenge for another year. Crowds unwind and relax before the music officially begins on Friday.

Zach Bryan at BST Hyde Park 2025: start time, tickets, potential setlist and what you need to know for London show

If you ever had any doubt about just how popular country music is in the UK right now, all you have to do is look at Zach Bryan's two sold out nights at BST Hyde Park. The American superstar has had a great few years. Whether he's collaborating with everyone from Kacey Musgraves and Bon Iver to Bruce Springsteen, selling out stadiums, or releasing critically acclaimed album after critically acclaimed album, he's hot property at the mo. Now, Bryan's making his BST debut with a double-bill this weekend, headlining both Saturday and Sunday (June 28-29) because London, like everyone else, just can't get enough. On top of seeing one of the biggest country stars in the world, heading to Hyde Park this weekend is an excellent way to curb that Glasto FOMO, so here's everything you need to know to ensure you have a brilliant night seeing Zach Bryan at BST Hyde Park 2025. When is Zach Bryan playing BST Hyde Park 2025? Zach will headline two nights at Hyde Park this week – Saturday June 28 and Sunday June 29. Night one sold out so quickly that the festival had to add another due to 'phenomenal demand', so you can expect to come across loads of like-minded Bryan fans this weekend. What time do doors open? Doors for BST open every day at 2pm, but those with primary entry or VIP access will be allowed in an hour early. Curfew is 10.30pm, so Zach's set will end just before then at roughly 10.20pm. What time will Zach Bryan come on stage? Zach is not one to skimp out; he's coming to give a proper show. He'll be on stage from 8pm until nearly 10.30pm, so you're getting almost two and a half hours of country goodness. Festival map You might want to plan out exactly where you're going to be at all times, or you might just want to know where the best bars are. Either way, having a look at the festival map ahead of time is a great help – here's the 2025 BST Hyde Park festival map. Full lineup As Zach is headlining two separate days, there are also different artists and stage splits on each day. Unfortunately, as we said earlier, there was huge demand for both of Zach's headlining days, and they're both sold out. You can have a look for resale tickets on Ticketmaster here, but we can't confirm that you'll get lucky. What's BST Hyde Park's bag policy? Everyone who comes to BST is allowed one bag each. This must be A4 or smaller, and bigger bags or suitcases will not be allowed into the festival grounds. Banned items It won't surprise you to know certain items are not allowed past the park gates. Weapons, explosives, or anything else that could hurt someone, are always banned, but you might not realise you'll also have to leave your klaxons, golf umbrellas, and camp chairs at home. Here's a list of banned items for BST Hyde Park. Chairs, seats, shooting sticks and tables Golf umbrellas, parasols and the like Suitcases, luggage and large bags Selfie sticks Spray cans Chinese lanterns Fireworks or gas canisters, Flags Hand held communication devices such as radios, radio jammers/scanners and the like Glass (of any kind) High-viz Klaxons, air horns, and other similar items capable of making loud noise Laser pens Drones Pyrotechnics Racist, xenophobic, political and religious propaganda materials, signs or inappropriate branded items Weapons, explosives, knives or anything that could be adopted for use as a weapon Promotional or commercial objects or materials Mechanical or electronic sound-emitting devices, such as megaphones Scooters, skateboards and bicycles Psychoactive substances (legal highs) Unauthorised professional photography or filming equipment Weather forecast Temperatures are expected to peak at 29C on Saturday, and 31C on Sunday, so make sure you stay well hydrated. There are free water refill stations throughout the festival, and you're encouraged to bring an empty, refillable water bottle with you on the day. Aside from that, there's no rain expected, but both days will have plenty of sun so you'll want to also stock up on some sun cream. Sunday is set to be warmer and sunnier with little cloud coverage, so just take extra care to drink loads of water.

The Glastonbury Outfits That Never Fail (Even in a Heatwave or Downpour)

If you've landed here, chances are you're going to Glastonbury but you have no idea what to wear. Well, you've come to the right place, for we understand the struggle. Packing for Glastonbury is basically a sport in itself. One moment you're planning a heatwave-ready 'fit with sunglasses and SPF, the next you're frantically shoving a waterproof jacket and wellies into your bag just in case the skies open up (again). With these meteorological mood swings and no space for a full wardrobe change between sets, the best Glasto celebrity looks come down to clever layering, sturdy footwear and a couple of hard-working outfit formulas you can throw on without a second thought. Whether you're sleeping in a tent, glamping in a yurt, or just popping in for the day, one thing's for certain: you want to look like you made an effort without actually trying that hard . Think Alexa Chung's muddy field trench coats and denim minis, or Sienna Miller's now-iconic blend of floaty boho dresses and worn-in boots. Their looks aren't about being overly polished they're about practical cool, and that's exactly the energy these last-minute outfits channel. From printed jackets thrown over white cargos to the trusty mini dress-and-boots combo that never fails, these are the low-lift outfit pairings that work whether it's blazing sunshine or surprise drizzle. Throw in a pair of mini wellington boots, a packable waterproof, and a touch-up beauty kit (dry shampoo, SPF, lip balm - non-negotiables), and you're pretty much set. It doesn't have to be perfect – it's Glastonbury after all – but with these formulas in your back pocket, you'll be dressed for the moment and the music. A striped shirt might not scream 'festival' at first, but trust me, it's one of the most versatile pieces you can pack. Creased or ironed, layered over a crop top, or tied at the waist when the rest of your outfit leans simple - it's the definition of versatile. Lottie Moss has already shown us how it's done, wearing hers with a belt, cinching the shirt in, giving it shape, and making it feel styled. 1. Free People We The Free Freddie Striped Shirt Price: £118 Why not make use of a shirt you have stowed away in your closet? This shirt is so similar to the one Lottie Moss is wearing above. 2. Bershka Wide Studded Belt Accessories can really jazz up the most bland of outfits; this belt will give those old jeans a whole new vibe. At first glance, a corset might feel a little too glam for a muddy field but that's exactly the point. There's something about bringing a structured, sculpted silhouette to the chaos of Glasto. Paired with vintage-feel denim shorts, it hits the perfect balance between dressed-up and down-to-earth. 3. KNWLS Multicolor Asymmetric Corset KNWLS knows how to do a great corset and this one is on sale. I wouldn't wait to snatch it up. 4. Mango High-Waisted Straight-Fit Denim Shorts While light-wash denim usually gets all the festival love, there's something chic about a pair of inky, deep-indigo shorts. They feel a little more polished, a little more grown-up. A fool-proof combo. Add a racer-back tank or slouchy band tee and some layered necklaces, and you're done. Bonus points for a tied shirt around the waist (it doubles as a cover-up when the sun dips) or a simple blouson-style jacket. 5. New Look Black Bomber Jacket Price: £39.99 When the sun sets you'll wish you had a jacket on you - and this one from New Look is as stylish as it is practical. 6. Abercrombie & Fitch Mid Rise Denim Mini Skirt You most likely already own a denim mini skirt, so this outfit is a quick fix. If you feel it might be a bit cold, style the skirt with boots and thick leg warmers. 7. Hunter Boots Downpour Tall Wellington Boots in Dark Olive Hunter boots will carry you through the muddy fields, and back to your humble abode in one piece. No wet or cold feet here! Utility meets comfort. Throw on wide-leg cargos with a cropped top and balance it with a bomber or denim jacket. It's laid-back but still intentional - just add chunky trainers or wellies and go. Sienna has gone for tartan jacket and white cargos, a pairing we wouldn't typically see together but it works. 8. Free People Chloe Jacket A patterned jacket adds just enough personality to even the simplest festival look. Whether it's geometric, floral, or retro-inspired, this is the kind of outerwear that says 'I didn't try too hard, I just have great taste.' 9. ARKET Sheer Poplin Pull-on Trousers These are the unexpected hero of your summer wardrobe. Crisp, light, and endlessly wearable, white cargos bring a cool, Californian edge to any outfit. Pair them with a cropped vest or an oversized shirt. Easy elegance, but make it weather-proof. A satin or jersey slip dress under a longline parka is one of those combinations that looks effortlessly cool, even in the mud. Add sunglasses and tousled hair to pull it together; Alexa Chung has this look on lock. 10. Omnes Maisie Dress in Lemonade Price: £89 Sunshine in clothing form. A yellow slip dress is one of those effortless pieces that makes you look instantly pulled together. Let it drape over your frame for that 'I just threw this on' vibe, and layer with boots or a trench when the temperature drops. 11. ASOS DESIGN Rubberised Rain Parka Coat A long black parka will save you in case it decides to rain - chances are you already have one. 12. Abercrombie Parker Long Shorts Price: £39.50 You know them, you love them. From cut-offs to distressed to clean-cut high-rise, denim shorts are the backbone of any laid-back summer look. Throw them on with a sweatshirt, a jacket, or a bikini top they're your styling blank canvas. 13. Uniqlo Zip-Up Short Jacket This jacket ruled spring! With oversized pockets, a structured shape, and subtle outdoorsy energy, a utility jacket gives major barn-core. If you're in a rush or feeling uninspired, a dress always delivers. It's unfussy, quick to throw on, and still looks like you've made an effort. Whether you lean towards something sheer and slinky or more on the floaty side, either works layered under a trench or oversized jacket if the weather turns. 14. Princess Polly Knitted Open Back Mini Beach Dress This dress has edge. The subtle cut-outs give it that perfectly undone feel that works just as well on the dancefloor as it does in the grass. Style with mini boots and bed hair, and you've nailed classic festival girl. 15. Barbour Nimbus Ankle Wellington in Black Classic wellies, but make them chic. The mini cut is ideal for stomping around the festival grounds without overwhelming your outfit. Style them with shorts, dresses, or skirts they're just as practical as full-length boots.
