The pair carried out a "frenzied attack" on Fisher at a tower block in Paisley
The 26-year-old was fatally attacked at flats in Paisley, Renfrewshire in July 2023.
Prosecutors stated it was Woods who knifed Mr Fisher with his then partner Balfour "acting in concert" knowing there would be violence.
The pair had been found guilty of murder following a trial last month.
They were each handed a life sentence today.
Woods was today jailed for a minimum 18 and a half years with Balfour locked up for 16 years.
The killing occurred after all three had been with others at a flat in the tower block.
A witness said Woods had been seen at one stage with a large kitchen knife.
Balfour meantime had shown someone the small lockback blade later used in the killing.
It had been attached to a set of keys.
The court heard the atmosphere later became "volatile" between those at the flat including Mr Fisher.

In her speech to jurors, prosecutor Erin Campbell said it was clear "the situation escalated".
She said this eventually led to Mr Fisher being stabbed "in what amounted to a murderous attack".
The victim managed to stagger out of the flat with blood on his face and down his T-shirt.
A man dialled 999 as Mr Fisher groaned in the background: "I have been stabbed."
He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
But, he never recovered and passed away there four days later.
The court heard how Mr Fisher had suffered five separate stab wounds as well as possible defensive injuries.
Miss Campbell put to jurors: "If you are trying to strike someone in the head or chest then there are only two possibilities.
"Either you are deliberately trying to kill the person.
"Or you are so angry and wild in the moment, you have total disregard if the person lives or dies."
The advocate depute stated Mr Fisher had been subjected to a "frenzied attack".
Woods was later stopped by police at a cycle track.
He was found with the murder weapon which had Mr Fisher's blood on it.
Balfour had initially told officers that the last time she had seen Mr Fisher was when he left the flat with another man.
Donald Findlay, defending Woods, today said the thug had not co-operated with compiling a pre-sentencing social work report.
The KC added: 'On the day of this matter no one set out looking for trouble. Something clearly happened which led to a conflict. There was a reaction to something.'
Balfour's KC Thomas Ross said she had previously suffered a 'traumatic' incident in 2014 and a had been in a 'toxic relationship' before the killing.

Shock moment ‘jewellery thief' is taken down & put in a ‘lion killer' chokehold by black belt tourists in hols hotspot
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THIS is the astonishing moment a "jewellery thief" is wrestled to the ground and held in a "lion killer" chokehold by tourists. Brazilian brothers Gabriel and Gustavo Galindo sprung into action after hearing screams from a man claiming he had been robbed. When police arrived 10 minutes later to escort the man away, applause and cheers erupted for the two brothers. Shocking footage shows the man pinned to the ground as he attempts to wriggle out of the stranglehold. According to Brazilian news, the alleged thief tried to bite Gabriel before being warned to "stay still" or leave without an arm. Gabriel said: "I put him on the ground to show him Brazilian jiu-jitsu. 'By then, there was already a crowd of people enraged with anger towards the unfortunate man. "Some angry people started to beat him up, but I didn't have the heart to let them hurt him too badly.' "We stopped the robbery, taught the thief a lesson, and kept everyone safe." Posting the video online, Gabriel quipped: 'Enjoying ourselves in Barcelona.' The clip has massed thousands of views, with hundreds congratulating the holidaygoers for their efforts. Thief tackled & put in chokehold by tourist after 'trying to steal camera' One user hailed the lads "champions" while another crowned them modern day superheroes. The pair, who were in Barcelona, Spain on a European tour with their family at the time, later said they were left with a "good story to tell". Gabriel said: "And we went back to enjoying our day in Barcelona—with a great story to tell.' Barcelona is notorious for its rampant thieves who target unsuspecting tourists. Just a couple months ago, extraordinary footage emerged of another tourist tackling a thief to the ground and holding him in a chokehold. Meanwhile, aast August, Sir Ben Ainslie was robbed at knifepoint for his £17,000 Rolex in the Spanish city. Ainslie, 47, recalled the horror as a gang mugged him while out for a meal on Saturday night in Barcelona. The terrifying attack unfolded when he was leaving a restaurant, as reported by local media La Vanguardia. And last year, unbelievable footage captured a thief swiping a Brit tourist's phone just as he proposed to his girlfriend in Barcelona. Footage showed Charlie Bullock surprising his now-fiancée Hannah McNaghten by going down on one knee - but the romantic moment is cut short as a thug is captured nabbing the device. Charlie propped up his phone on the wall as the two posed for a picture outside Barcelona's famous Arc de Triomf, with Hannah totally unaware of what would happen next. And in 2022, Barcelona FC star Robert Lewandowski chased a thief who stole his £59,000 watch as he signed autographs. Before an evening training session, the Poland hitman stopped to greet fans outside the club's Ciutat Esportiva complex. But one crafty thief used the distraction to open Lewandowski's car door and make off with the high-end time piece.

Driver, 17, sang Shaggy's ‘It wasn't me' after mowing down care home worker who lost unborn baby in horror hit-&-run
An emergency C-section was carried out in an attempt to save the unborn child's life CRASH HORROR Driver, 17, sang Shaggy's 'It wasn't me' after mowing down care home worker who lost unborn baby in horror hit-&-run Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A HIT-and-run driver, 17, sang Shaggy's "It wasn't me" after running over a pregnant care home worker. Renju Joseph, 31, tragically lost her unborn child after she was mowed down on a pedestrian crossing in Lancashire on September 29 last year. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Tributes were left at the scene for Renju Joseph's unborn baby Olive Credit: Dave Nelson 2 Ashir Shahid searched 'charge for hit and run human' before his arrest Credit: PA Ashir Shahid, now 20, was barreling through Bamber Bridge village, near Preston, in his Toyota Prius at speeds of up to 71mph in the 30mph zone. He struck the five-months pregnant care home worker and she was "thrown into the air", Preston Crown Court heard. Renju has been walking with colleagues on her way to work when the tragedy unfolded at around 7.50pm. Paramedics rushed her to hospital with head and spinal injuries. Prosecutor Emma Keogh told the court: "It also became apparent that the life of her unborn child was in severe jeopardy. "An emergency C-section had to be carried out in an attempt to save the unborn child's life. "The placenta had ruptured and Mrs Joseph had bled quite heavily. "Her child was born that evening but sadly he only survived for a few hours before passing away. "This was her very first pregnancy with her husband who she married about five years earlier. This was a planned pregnancy and very much wanted." Renju spent several weeks in intensive care and had to relearn how to walk after a three month hospital stay. The court heard another motorist had witnessed the Prius driver accelerating around 15 metres before the crossing. They then swerved before hitting the 31-year-old and narrowly missing fellow pedestrians. The witness claimed Renju was "thrown into the air for quite some distance". Ms Keogh told the court: "It was very clear from footage in both the lead-up and the aftermath that the Toyota was driven at speed. "It was clear that throughout the journey the driving by Ashir Shahid left a lot to be desired." Video evidence from a front seat passenger in Shahid's car revealed the pair had been joking around before the crash while driving at high speed. The passenger was also seen dangling his feet out of the window while the driver periodically let go of the steering wheel. Investigations then revealed the defendant had searched "charge for hit and run human" just 11 seconds after the horror. He and another man were also seen at Frankie's Chicken Shop, laughing about the crash. One of them was overheard saying: "I'm basically with a murderer." After spotting CCTV he told a staff member behind the counter: "If anyone asks for this video, don't give it them. This guy is a criminal." While the men were still in the chicken shop, a flat bed truck picked up the Prius after it was abandoned in a nearby village. Police later discovered it had been transported to Greater Manchester. One of the men checked his phone in the hours after the incident and said: "That's the woman. She's in hospital." Meanwhile a clip from Shahid's snapchat showed him singing along to the Shaggy song It Wasn't Me and laughing. Officers detained Shahid at a property in Kirkham after he hid at a friends house until October 2. Shahid, of Windsor Road, Walton le Dale, Preston, pleaded guilty to causing the death of Renju's baby Olive by dangerous driving. He also admitted causing serious injury to Renju by dangerous driving. Shahid will be sentenced on Friday alongside a 17-year-old male who pleaded guilty to assisting an offender.
