Kamaru Usman returns from a year and a half away from the sport in June to take on Joaquin Buckley in a battle for welterweight contender status. And while we could be witnessing a changing of the guard from one generation to the next, there's unfinished business between Usman and current 170 pound champion Belal Muhammad.
While the footage has never been released, Usman and Muhammad reportedly got into a brawl on the set of Kamaru's Pound 4 Pound podcast last year. In a new interview with ESPN, 'The Nigerian Nightmare discussed the incident and his feelings towards 'Remember The Name.'

'There's allegedly a lot of speculation, you know?' he said of the podcast fist fight. 'A lot of things being said.'
'Belal is a guy that was always around and I never really paid attention to because I was doing what I needed to do,' Usman said. 'I was always fighting the next guy up, next guy up. I didn't really pay attention to Belal. But now that I'm forced to actually look at Belal, he's not bad. He's just good everywhere. And that's been working for him. So he's not bad. I'm never in any way discrediting that.'
'Once I was forced to pay attention to him, I started to kinda see the antics that go on outside of the cage, and I was never that guy. If I was champion and the next guy up was barking at me, then of course I would respond and then we get in there and we'd settle it. But Belal just seems to be a different type of champion who is willing to make memes and get on Twitter because he wants the attention. He craves that attention.'
'Even if you're a guy that's not in his division, he's willing to have that back and forth with you,' Usman continued. 'And for me, I just find it a little bit distasteful and I wasn't a part of it. Then he became champion, and he started to come at me with that energy. It was like, 'Oh, you have a problem with me? Well, if you have a problem, I don't really play on the internet. Let's talk it out.' And so we invited him on a podcast and ... it went how it went.'

'That's all I can say. Eventually, hopefully, we'll release that podcast because he was only there for like maybe ten minutes. It wasn't really long. And then it was over and he left.'
While Usman has a reputation for being a chill dude, he said there would have to be security on hand to keep things from popping off if the two ran into each other again.
'Probably, yeah,' he told ESPN. 'I'm very level headed, especially when I'm outside of the cage. But for the last two years, I haven't been in the thick of it.'
'When you're in the thick of it, you're on alert all the time. Me and George St-Pierre, we had this conversation where he expressed that to me. He's like, 'When you're in it, you're always this defensive guy.' And I hadn't been that for a while, but now that I'm back in the thick of it, yeah. They probably have to have security back there with us.'

Belal Muhammad defends his welterweight title against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315 on May 10th. Kamaru Usman fight Joaquin Buckley in the main event of a June 14th Fight Night in Atlanta. What happens after that depends on who wins and who loses ... or if there's enough security around to stop something from going down outside the cage.

Seattle Mariners Firm In Weekly Power Rankings Despite Another Key Injury

It was not supposed to be this way for the Seattle Mariners. On paper, their starting rotation was one of, if not the best, in MLB. Now, just over the first quarter mark for the 2025 season, three members of that rotation have spent time on the injured list, with Bryce Miller the latest to join those ranks. So far, it has not done much to hurt the team's overall performance. They enter Saturday with a 24-19 record, leading the American League West by one game over the Houston Astros. Advertisement Despite the injuries, it has been a strong start to the year for the Mariners, and the latest weekly power rankings from ESPN have the team ninth in MLB, staying put from where they were in last week's rankings. "A Mariners team that enjoyed a remarkable run of health from its starting pitchers last year placed another one of their starters on the injured list Wednesday," writes Alden Gonzalez of ESPN, "when Bryce Miller was diagnosed with a bout of elbow inflammation, joining George Kirby and Logan Gilbert on the shelf. The news came on the heels of a recent four-game losing streak -- which followed an 8-2 stretch. It emphasized something we should have probably learned by now -- that nobody is going to run away with the American League West this season." Seattle has had to dig into their pitching depth to make things work in the rotation this year, but have gotten key contributions from Bryan Woo, who is emerging as a legitimate ace, and rookie Logan Evans. Advertisement Evans made his fourth career Major League start on Friday night, pitching six shutout innings against the San Diego Padres while striking out three and only walking one. He carries a 2.57 ERA across his first 21 innings at the top level of baseball. The season so far has been a good one for the Mariners. If their pitching can get much healthier down the stretch, the AL West will be theirs to lose.

Comedian Reginald D Hunter faces private prosecution over social media posts

Comedian Reginald D Hunter is being prosecuted over alleged antisemitic social media posts, a court heard. The 56-year-old US stand-up is accused of three counts of sending an offensive communication on three different occasions – on August 24, September 10 and September 11 last year – to Heidi Bachram on X, formerly Twitter. He was due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday but Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram issued a warrant for him to attend court on July 7 in his absence. Prosecutor Donal Lawler told the court that Hunter is a 'well-known comedian' who is being privately prosecuted by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) charity. It is alleged Hunter sent a computer-generated sexual image to Ms Bachram in August last year, with the charges claiming it was 'grossly offensive'. On September 10 he is said to have tweeted Ms Bachram saying: 'THIS is why I HATE these people and am committed to their destruction not because JEW hatred Not even because they are European Nazis pretending to be JEWS Because of all the lying. Mama HATED liars and bequeathed that hatred to ALL of her children.' The following day, it is alleged he sent another message saying: 'Hey sugar. I don't hate you for being an agent of evil. Not new Not even uncommon. You being a liar a persistent liar KNOWING the truth, is why I will see you and your kind ended, even if it costs me EVERYTHING. You are not even a JEW. Run tell that.' Hunter regularly tours the UK and has appeared on comedy panel shows Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You and 8 Out Of 10 Cats. Mr Lawler told the court on Friday that the comedian was due to begin a tour of England and Wales tomorrow. The prosecutor said Hunter was scheduled to do a gig in London on July 6, adding that his legal team may be able to serve him his court summons in person at the venue on that date. The CAA describes itself as an organisation of volunteers which works to 'expose and counter antisemitism through education and zero-tolerance enforcement of the law'. Hunter's representatives and the CAA have been approached for comment.
