Toddler dies two days later from car-MPV collision on NSE

MUAR: A two-year-old girl died while her seven-month-old baby brother cheated death after a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) rammed into the family's car on the North-South Expressway.
Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the accident took place at KM144.9 northbound of the expressway near here last Monday (May 26).
'The white MPV was travelling behind the family before it hit the back of their car.
'The impact caused the family's car to lose control and skidded into a divider on the left side of the expressway.
'The two-year-old girl in the car suffered from head injuries as a result of the crash. She was later pronounced dead at Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah two days later on Wednesday morning,' he said in a statement on Sunday (June 1).
He added that the toddler's 33-year-old father, who drove the car, sustained injuries to his arms while her 27-year-old mother broke her leg.
'There was a fourth passenger in the car, a seven-month-old baby boy, who escaped unhurt in the accident, while the MPV's 33-year-old driver was also unhurt,' he added.
ACP Raiz Mukhliz said an alcohol breath and blood test was conducted after the incident and found the MPV driver free of alcohol and substance abuse.
He added that a video clip from the car's rear windshield, showing the MPV ramming into it, has also been making rounds on social media.
The accident is investigated under Section Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which is punishable with imprisonment of up to 10 years and a maximum fine of RM50,000 upon conviction, he added.

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police arrested a man within just three hours after he allegedly attempted to rob two Chinese nationals at their home in Gelang Patah here. Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said police received a report from a 14-year-old victim at around 1.34pm on Sunday (June 1) regarding the attempted robbery. 'The victim, together with her grandmother, who is in her 70s, was at home when the suspect entered the house at around 11.30am and tried to rob them,' he said on Monday (June 2). Based on public information, police arrested a 33-year-old local man on the same day at around 2.30pm. Following the arrest, police also recovered clothing believed to have been worn during the incident, including a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. ACP Kumarasan said initial checks revealed that the suspect has two prior criminal records, but he tested negative for drugs. He added that the suspect is currently being held under a seven-day remand until this Sunday (June 8) to assist with investigations under Section 394 of the Penal Code. ACP Kumarasan also praised the public for their cooperation, which was instrumental in the swift arrest. 'We deeply appreciate the prompt information provided by the public, as their assistance enabled us to capture the suspect within just three hours. We remain committed to curbing all forms of crime in the district,' he said. Woman, family get threatened via TikTok livestream
SUBANG JAYA: A woman and her family were allegedly threatened following a defamatory livestream on TikTok. Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the incident took place on Saturday (May 31), when the victim came across the livestream on TikTok. 'The video, uploaded by an individual known to them, contained unverified claims and specifically targeted the victim's brother and sister,' he said in a statement on Monday. 'During the livestream, the suspect displayed photos of the siblings while making the accusations. After the livestream ended, the victim received a call from an unknown number threatening physical harm against her and her family.' He added that the woman behind the video had previously contacted the victim's sister, demanding repayment of a supposed RM10,000 loan, which the sister denies ever borrowing. Police have since identified two female suspects, both in their 40s. 'We are actively tracking them down, and arrests are expected soon,' said Wan Azlan.

Cops seeking two women over extortion, TikTok defamation
SUBANG JAYA: Police have identified two women in their early 40s in connection with an extortion case and false information spread via a TikTok live broadcast. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said efforts are underway to locate and arrest the suspects, who are believed to have threatened and defamed a woman's family through the platform. He said the case came to light after a housewife, 46, lodged a report, claiming that her family was targeted in a TikTok live session on May 31, while she was at home in Taman Puchong Perdana, Puchong. "In the live stream, the suspect, a woman known to the complainant, used threatening language, particularly against the complainant's younger brother and sister. "She also displayed photos of them while making accusations. "She later received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number threatening to harm her and her family." Wan Azlan said investigations showed that the same woman had previously contacted the complainant's sister to demand repayment of a RM10,000 debt. However, the sister denied the claim, insisting she had never borrowed money from the suspect. "The harassment is believed to have started in April through the suspect's TikTok account. "The wide reach of the broadcast caused distress to the complainant's family, who also received threatening messages from unknown numbers suspected to be linked to the broadcast." Wan Azlan said the case is being investigated for extortion and improper use of network facilities.
