Aaron Judge slumps at worst time as Yankees get swept by rival Red Sox in embarrassing finish

The New York Yankees entered Boston riding high, having just completed a dominant sweep of the Royals. But by the time they trudged out of Fenway Park on Sunday, they had endured a weekend to forget.
The Boston Red Sox not only handed them a 2-0 loss on Father's Day but completed a sweep that left the Yankees without a single lead in the entire series.
Red Sox blank Yankees to complete sweep, exposing cracks in Aaron Judge's unstoppable run
Facing their rivals in back-to-back weekends, the Yankees dropped five of six matchups. The sudden momentum shift injected life into a Red Sox team that had been hovering just above .500. 'It sucks losing to the Red Sox. We never like that,' manager Aaron Boone admitted postgame.
'But it's why teams don't win 120 games. We're really good. I think that's going to continue to show itself.'
Boone's optimism couldn't mask what had been a glaring issue over the weekend—an offense that simply didn't show up. After lighting up the scoreboard at home, the Yankees mustered just four runs across three games at Fenway. It marked the team's first sweep of the season in 23 series played.

'Just couldn't really get anything going,' said Aaron Judge, who went 1-for-12 in the series. 'Here, we just couldn't string those couple at-bats together and drive some runs across.'
Judge's lone hit, a ninth-inning homer on Friday, was also the Yankees' only run against Boston starters across 21⅓ innings pitched. His struggles culminated in an 0-for-4 outing on Sunday that included a momentum-killing double play in the eighth.
And then there were the baserunning blunders—Ben Rice was caught stealing in the third inning on Sunday in a critical spot, echoing the previous night's mistake when Jasson Domínguez was caught unaware between second and third.
'Especially when you're playing the Red Sox, you always want to put your best foot forward,' Boone said. 'They took us down this weekend, back-to-back weekends.'
Even Max Fried, typically the Yankees' go-to stopper, couldn't prevent the sweep. His solid seven-inning, two-run effort was wasted by an offense that remained silent. The Yankees now return to New York, thankful that another Red Sox series won't arrive until August.
'Long season,' Boone said. 'We get home [Monday] and start anew and hopefully get the bats going and have a big home stand.'

Is Chet Holmgren alright? Oklahoma City Thunder forward breaks silence on injury scare ahead of Game 5 against Indiana Pacers
Chet Holmgren. Image via: Jason Miller/ Getty Images Chet Holmgren is silencing all concerns just days before Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers. After suffering a noticeable ankle twist in Game 4, Thunder fans feared the worst. But Holmgren, who's played a critical role in OKC's Finals run, seems determined to push through the pain. With the series locked at 2-2, his health has become a storyline almost as important as the basketball itself. Chet Holmgren addresses ankle injury after Game 4 scare as Thunder brace for crucial Game 5 vs the Indiana Pacers Chet Holmgren plays through pain as the OKC Thunder prepare to regain control at home. In Game 4, Holmgren's grit was tested early. A hard drive to the rim saw the 7-foot-1 forward collapse, clutching his left ankle and wincing in pain. His reaction was concerning, but what followed spoke volumes about his resolve. As he lay on the hardwood, he looked up to see Shai Gilgeous-Alexander towering over him. The Thunder's MVP asked, 'You OK?' and then gave a direct charge: 'C'mon man. We need you. Get up.' Holmgren got up and stayed in the fight. Despite rolling the ankle multiple times, he powered through 37 minutes of action, contributing 14 points and 15 rebounds. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? Tyrese Haliburton, in particular, found himself settling for tough shots rather than beating Holmgren to the rim. After the game, Holmgren didn't lean into excuses. Instead, he explained his mindset, saying, 'I was just kind of thinking about how to make individual plays that could put us in a better situation. Not try to get a home run or make it all happen at once.' That measured approach helped OKC rally from behind, closing Game 4 with a 31-17 final quarter and winning 111-104. Even after tweaking the ankle again later in the game, Holmgren showed no signs of slowing down. His rebounding dominance has been a constant, leading both teams in that category this series. According to The Oklahoman, Holmgren told reporters at Sunday's practice that 'it's fine,' while moving without restriction in front of media during open sessions. With Monday's Game 5 at the Paycom Center, the Thunder once again hold home-court advantage. But certainly, they'll need Holmgren to be close to full strength to make that a reality.
