The 3 Best Hotels in Dublin of 2025

Hospitality trends come and go, but the best hotels in the Irish capital are long-standing favorites among Travel + Leisure readers, who have voted for the same trio of classic Dublin hotels for four years and counting!
But which icon cinched the coveted No. 1 spot in our 2025 list? Keep reading to find out. Every year for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe—to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Nearly 180,000 T+L readers completed the 2025 survey. A total of more than 657,000 votes were cast across over 8,700 properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.). Hotels were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, inn, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically rated on the criteria below: Rooms/facilities Location Service Food Value For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses.
While all three of our leading hotels have timeless style and warm Irish hospitality, they also share a central address in the heart of the Irish capital, just steps from beautiful parks like St. Stephen's Green and Iveagh Gardens, as well as landmarks such as Trinity College Dublin. 'This is our preferred place to stay while in Dublin,' one reader said about the Merrion Hotel (No. 2), which was last year's winner. 'I always feel welcome here when visiting the city.'
Just a short stroll away is The Shelbourne Dublin (No. 3), which has hosted illustrious guests for more than two centuries, ranging from Peter O'Toole and Jackie Kennedy to Grace Kelly. Its storied history is a big draw, but the 265-room hotel constantly strives to improve itself with new seasonal menus, extravagant lobby displays (from oversized flower arrangements to edible Easter décor), and sumptuous spa treatments.
And as a matter of fact, this combination of old-meets-new is a key feature of this year's winner.
The Westbury The Wilde restaurant at The Westbury.
The flagship of the family-owned boutique hospitality brand The Doyle Collection, The Westbury treats its guests like longtime friends. 'This is a home away from home,' said one reader. Readers were equally as impressed by the elegant interiors and museum-quality artwork legends such as Sir John Lavery and Louis le Brocquy as by the 'small' details such as 'beds that you melt into,' and the 'stunning cocktails' at the 1930s-style Sidecar bar, where inventive concoctions are shaken with homegrown botanicals and spirits. 'Everything about The Westbury is simply outstanding,' a reader wrote. 'I give it five stars.'

Building Humanity Into Hospitality Management with Valor's Global CEO

Compelling discussions with travel industry leaders and creatives who are helping to shape the future of travel. In this episode of the Skift Travel Podcast, Skift CEO Rafat Ali talks with Euan McGlashan, Global Co-Founder, CEO, and Owner of Valor Hospitality Partners, about what's broken – and what's still worth rebuilding – in U.S. hospitality. Ali opens with a provocation – that U.S. hospitality has, in many ways, lost the plot. McGlashan doesn't disagree, but brings a global lens to the conversation, arguing that much of what's broken can be traced back to culture, misaligned incentives, and outdated management models. McGlashan shares how Valor has grown by focusing on culture, purpose, and performance – not just scale. He breaks down what's behind the industry's worsening labor shortages and how emotional intelligence training has become core to Valor's model. With a blunt take on the limits of brand-led loyalty and the traditional third-party operator model, McGlashan offers a vision for a more human, more effective version of hotel leadership. The discussion also covers Valor's global growth strategy, how it balances working with big brands while protecting team identity, and why 'doing the simple things brilliantly' is still the fastest way to win guest loyalty. Safestay enters franchise agreement with Sycomore Entwicklungen

Safestay has signed its first franchise agreement as part of its growth strategy, focusing on capital-light expansion. The franchise agreement was signed with hostel owner Sycomore Entwicklungen to operate under the Safestay brand and systems. The agreement encompasses two hostels in the Austrian alpine resort of Kitzbühel. With effect from 1 September 2025, the agreement will initially last for five years, with an option to extend for an additional five years. The two properties, currently known as Roomie Alps Design Hostel Kitzbühel and Guesthouse Johanna hotel, will be rebranded as Safestay Kitzbühel Centre and Safestay Kitzbühel Alpine, respectively. Together, these two properties will offer 70 beds in Kitzbühel and are located near ski lifts and other local amenities. Based on the terms and conditions, Safestay will receive guaranteed fixed annual payments and performance-based fees, including commissions for direct bookings via its own platform. The rebranding process will adhere to Safestay's brand standards and to be executed by Sycomore. The franchise model allows Safestay to expand with reduced capital requirements, leveraging its international brand and marketing reach. Both the Safestay Kitzbühel Centre and Safestay Kitzbühel Alpine will be incorporated into Safestay's sales and marketing platform, allowing them to leverage the company's operational expertise and IT infrastructure. Sycomore will be able to access support services such as HR, recruitment, and yield management via Safestay's commercial hub in Warsaw, Poland. This integration aims to increase direct bookings and reduce reliance on online travel agents. Safestay chairman Larry Lipman commented: "Our first franchise agreement is an exciting opportunity for Safestay as we continue to execute against our ambitions to double the size of our portfolio over the medium term. 'Whilst we continue to see significant white space for Safestay in a great number of European city centres, we are excited to take Safestay to a much sought-after alpine resort and introduce the brand to different travellers and new customers. 'These two sites have great potential and will benefit from our leading brand and well-invested infrastructure. We look forward to demonstrating the attractiveness of the franchise model and exploring further similar opportunities for growth.' Sycomore Entwicklungen managing director Nikolaus Kramhaller added: 'Our properties are in excellent locations and will benefit from Safestay's brand and operational expertise as we elevate our offering at Safestay Kitzbühel Centre and Safestay Kitzbühel Alpine. 'This opportunity will allow us to utilise Safestay's established infrastructure and proven systems, while also providing Safestay with an excellent opportunity to expand. It is a strategic win-win that will enhance our guest experience while strengthening Safestay's presence in one of Europe's most desirable mountain destinations." Safestay's collection includes 20 hostels and one hotel, providing travellers with a choice of private and shared accommodations in key destination cities across the UK, Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Slovakia.
