‘How Does This Happen?:' Nissan Customer Backs Into a Parked Car During Test Drive. Then the Salesman Pulls the Security Footage
Test driving cars is an essential (and potentially the most fun) part of the car-buying experience. During the process, you'll gain an understanding of what feels right and wrong, what new technology is useful, and what additions you can go without. In a viral video, the general manager of O'Neil Nissan, Drew Pearlman (@drewdoesdeals1), reveals how a customer's test drive turned south after the car ended up backing into another vehicle parked in the dealership lot. The TikTok has more than 21,000 views as of this writing. Test Drive Gone Wrong In his post, Pearlman shows how one of his cars ended up crashing into a customer's car in his dealership lot. 'It's been one of those days. Now I gotta figure out who was driving this,' Pearlman remarks. To find out exactly how this happened, Pearlman went to the security footage. In the footage, the test car appeared to be parked until it started slowly rolling backward. The slow roll gradually turned into smashing into another car in the lot. 'I'm guessing the customer never put the car in park,' Pearlman theorizes. The unattended car brought up many questions for viewers. How Does This Happen? Before departing the vehicle, the customer never pushed the gear shifter all the way up to park and left it in reverse, says Pearlman. People who watched Perlman's TikTok were left questioning: How on Earth is this possible? 'How did they not hear the loud chime it's making to let them know it's not in park?' one asked. 'How do people get out of a car not in park? Doesn't the car keep rolling?' a second questioned. Both Questions Bring Up Valid Points Typically, cars will alert drivers with a ding noise before exiting when the car is not placed in park. A loud sound will trigger if the car is left in drive, neutral, or reverse once any door opens. This sound will often grab the driver's attention to inform them that the car has not been properly set in park. Additionally, a car that is accidentally left in drive will typically continue rolling, according to an expert on Quora . The expert also notes, 'Unless there is a mechanical problem with linkage from the shifter to the ignition tumbler, you shouldn't be able to turn the key back far enough to remove the key from the ignition tumbler unless the transmission is in Park. This may not be applicable, however, in some older models or models with console shifting instead of a column shifter.' What Happens When You Crash During a Test Drive at the Dealership? According to Progressive , if you're buying from a dealer, its insurance will usually cover damage and injuries if you have an accident during a test drive. Dealerships are legally required to have fleet insurance on the inventory on their lots. Test drivers are usually considered covered drivers in the event of an accident. Additionally, your own personal car insurance coverage will transfer to any vehicle you are test-driving. Cellino Law reports that who covers the accident will depend on the situation. Some dealerships may require test drivers to sign a liability form that removes the dealership from any liability in the event of an accident. If a test driver ends up signing this liability waiver, the responsibility for the collision or damage is theirs. Now, if a minor accident happens like the one in the viral post, the dealership will typically absorb the costs of property damage or losses through its fleet insurance. This move is done so the dealership doesn't lose a customer over something minor when coverage is available. Lastly, if the accident is clearly the driver's fault, the dealership may go after the test driver and have their insurance cover the damage. Each dealership will handle each accident differently, and the choices it makes will depend on the damage to the vehicle, where the accident took place, and whether any injuries were incurred. 2026 Nissan Armada Nismo: New Looks, Better Handling, and More Power
Nissan is giving in to enthusiasts' deepest desires. For the first time in America, the company is bringing a Nismo version of its full-size Armada SUV to market for 2026. The Nissan Armada Nismo gets striking tuner-inspired looks, a retuned suspension, and more power from its twin-turbocharged V-6 engine. The Nissan Armada Nismo will be easy to spot in a crowd. There are unique front and rear bumpers, as well as special side skirts and a new tailgate, all covered in red accents, typical of any modern Nismo product. There's also an exclusive two-tone Stealth Grey color scheme, fender flares, a diffuser, a rear spoiler, and a set of massive 22-inch wheels. Photo by: Nissan Inside is more of the same, with specific quilted two-tone black and red leather for the seats and center armrest. The seats have adjustable bolsters to help hold you in during high-g cornering. There are also red accents along the dashboard and the steering wheel to further set the cabin apart. Under the hood, you'll find the Armada's twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6, retuned to 460 horsepower—an increase of 35 horses over the standard model. The extra power is thanks to a revised engine programming, a new exhaust system, and "careful fine-tuning of valve clearances," according to Nissan. As with all other Armadas, power is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission and a full-time all-wheel drive system. To complete the package, Nissan gives the Armada Nismo a retuned electric power steering rack and a revised adaptive air suspension system to improve handling and response. Those forged alloy wheels wear a higher-performance all-season tire for more overall grip. The best news is, despite all of these changes, the Armada Nismo carries the same 8,500-pound towing capacity as all other trims, meaning it can be the perfect companion to your Z track car. Photo by: Nissan Nissan has yet to reveal pricing for the 2026 Armada Nismo, though considering all of the equipment changes, we expect it to be priced similarly to the off-road-focused Pro-4X trim, which starts at $75,750 including destination. The company should release pricing once the SUV goes on sale this fall. Inside The Top Secret World Of Luxury Concierges
Ali Salmi and Goran Svilar, founders of S2 Lifestyle Management. Luxury isn't just about helipads and thread counts. True luxury is defined by relationships and expert knowledge. And these are the principles that guide London-based luxury concierge consultants Ali Salmi and Goran Svilar, the founders of S2 Lifestyle Management. How did you get the idea for S2 Lifestyle Management? And what is the story and message behind the name? Ali Salmi: The idea actually came very organically. We were in businesses where a luxury lifestyle played a major role. We were involved with a drinks brand, and we got to know almost every cool (and non-cool ) restaurant, bar, hotel in London. We also got to know the managers and people working behind the scenes. Goran Svilar: The story behind a name is fairly simple. Both Ali's and my surnames start with S. The interesting part is that once you mirror two S's and connect them, it creates a number eight, which has always been my lucky number. This is how we locked in on. the name S2. The world of concierge services is an already saturated market—what in your mind does S2 Lifestyle Management offer that wasn't already available? GS: We have been doing our job for almost 20 years and have never got bored of it, but we are always cautious of the changes that happen over time. We are also lucky that we are always able to attract clients with style and grace. AS: We work with a relatively small number of clients because we want to make sure we can provide them with 360 degrees service and be helpful in absolutely any situation— which is why our morning might start with a grocery delivery request leading through to a specialist doctor's appointment, all the way through to bespoke travel arrangements. Ultimately, we are not necessarily providing what is not available already, but we find the fastest ways to resolve any issue for our clients and obtaining what is not in their reach. How has technology and social media changed what you do? AS: Technology has, in a way, helped us to differentiate ourselves even more. Technology has provided app-based companies, like Velocity Black, opportunities to work fast but not necessarily to provide those clients with excellent customer service. We live in the era where time is so precious. I'm not saying that technology is not helpful, not at all, our team uses all available technological advancements to work better, faster and be more informed. Technology has provided us with an infinite well of information, but at the end of the day, it is us who will have to place our trust in the information we find online. Social media is great in many ways and an incredible source of information, but it's only ever partial and personal. Ali Salmi and Goran Svilar. What are some of the most challenging and ambitious projects you've taken on, or items you've sourced? AS: If we are looking at finding the unfindable, I'd probably say sourcing a Cartier Crash watch for a client. Tracking down the watch is a challenge by itself, but sourcing it with a specific year and number, that gets really tricky. GS: I think to date, my biggest anxiety is restaurants bookings. We are very blessed with a fantastic team, so I personally don't need to do this, but there are times when even they get stuck and Ali or I need to jump in. It is not restaurant booking itself, but, as is always the way, it is about who you catch on the other side of the phone line, and then who you know who can help you make things happen. We had to book a table at Central in Lima, Peru (named the best restaurant in Central America for three consecutive years) with just a couple of weeks notice. This is a restaurant that has a six-month waiting list (if not more), and it really is a truly spectacular experience. Everything from the setup, the venue, the tables, the place settings… and then the food … is simply exceptional. In these situations, the client doesn't really ask you whether you can or cannot, we just get told the date to make the booking. And these are the moments when our team asks us to jump in. Rest assured … the client did sit down for the dinner on the requested date and time … and the chef, Virgilio Martínez Véliz came to say hi and present the desert himself. AS: I know we might not be saving lives, but it gives us a great pleasure and a great relief when we succeed and the client is satisfied. That feeling, even all these years later, never gets old.
