Mizoram traffic curb lifted: Over 800 vehicles released
2
Aizawl: State police personnel, regulating vehicular traffic along the worst stretches of NH-306 and 06, linking Mizoram with Assam, have released 826 goods-laden vehicles on Saturday night till 8am on Sunday with only 36 vehicles being left stranded, officials said, reports HC Vanlalruata.
The officials said those released from the Kawnpui area in Kolasib district bordering Assam towards Aizawl included 25 trucks, carrying cooking gas cylinders and 62 trucks and tankers. They said 223 trucks proceeding towards Assam were also released from Sairang and Khamrang area.
Suspension of operation by the Aizawl-based Joint Committee of the Commercial Vehicles was called off at 4pm on Saturday resulting in more vehicles being released.
Earlier, the state govt said repairs on the worst-hit stretch of the highway, between Kawnpui and Sairang, were almost completed on Thursday. This stretch, roughly 100 metres long, had been a major bottleneck. By 2.00pm Thursday, boulders had been placed in 80 per cent of the stretch, and the remaining work is expected to wrap up by evening. A team of heavy machinery, including two excavators, a vibratory roller, and a grader, was put to work to fix the damage.

Joint committee of commercial vehicles, however, has expressed doubts about the govt claims that the worst stretches along the highways have been repaired during the suspension of operation by the truckers and the sections are now fit for all the vehicles to ply along the highways.
The joint committee of commercial vehicles, comprising 14 associations of truckers, said they are still sceptical that the conditions of the worst sections have been fully repaired, expressing doubts about the quality of boulders used in some sections.
They also urged the govt to construct reliable drains along the roads to ensure durability as well as to use hard rocks, not mixed with soft boulders and mud to fill potholes.
Besides fuel scarcity, the prolonged repair period of the Aizawl-Silchar highway hit the economy of the state hard as acute scarcity of essential items, including fuel, rice and other commodities like liquid milk, caused hardships to the common people while construction activities also almost came to a standstill due to unavailability of construction materials specially cement and steel rods.

Pranav Bhojwani's Night Shift features David Lee's Ferrari Collection and takes home awards From Los Angeles To Tokyo
Night Shift is a 10-time award-winning 2024 short film starring Ferrari Collector David Lee, directed, written, and produced by 25-year-old Los Angeles-based filmmaker Pranav Bhojwani. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The story follows a security guard protecting the world's rarest Ferrari collection when his first night shift goes wrong. Bhojwani's vision was to create a blockbuster film in 10 minutes and subvert the expectations of scale in short films. While Ferraris have appeared in films before, iconic models like the 288 GTO, and LaFerrari had never been filmed for cinema. 'Night Shift' became the first motion picture to ever feature these supercars on screen. Rather than relying on CGI, the team pulled off autonomous driving sequences using real stunt work, which translated beautifully on the screen. Night Shift picked up 10 awards from international film festivals in Los Angeles, New York, and Tokyo. The film's festival run began with Bhojwani winning Best Director and Lee receiving Best Actor (Honorable Mention) at the Los Angeles Film Awards. After its early wins, the short film was awarded in categories of Directing, Cinematography, and Acting at the New York International Film Festival Awards. Bhojwani grabbed another Best Director win at the New York International Film Awards. Other accolades that followed included those from the Indie X Film Festival, the Golden State Film Festival, the 25th Beverly Hills International Film Festival, and the Hollywood International Golden Age Festival. After its screening in Tokyo, Bhojwani's short film snagged the Best Drama Excellence Award at the International Auto Film Festa, giving it global recognition. The success of Bhojwani's Night Shift and its cinematic impact have opened doors to Hollywood, with new projects already in development.

Manufacturing leap: India should shift from low-cost to innovation; Accel report outlines decade's big opportunity
AI image India's manufacturing industry has a 'rare opportunity to leapfrog global incumbents' by moving away from its low-cost production image and embracing innovation-led growth, according to Accel's Advanced Manufacturing Report 2025, released on Thursday. As per news agency PTI, the global venture capital firm identified precision engineering, aerospace, EV components, semiconductors, robotics, and advanced materials as sectors where India could take a leading role, if the right mix of policy support, funding and skilled talent is achieved. The report was launched during Accel's Advanced Manufacturing Summit in New Delhi, which brought together policymakers, business founders, and investors to discuss the country's industrial future. Prashanth Prakash, partner at Accel, called it 'India's once-in-a-generation window' to lead in advanced manufacturing. 'This is not just about scale, it's about sovereignty,' he said, stressing the need to merge policy momentum, deep-tech expertise, patient investment, and world-class skills. The findings indicate that competing purely on low-cost labour is no longer sustainable. Instead, future success will rely on producing complex, high-precision products backed by strong intellectual property. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo The report notes that global supply chain shifts, rapid technological changes, and favourable geopolitical conditions are reshaping India's manufacturing prospects. Domestic initiatives, including production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes and fresh R&D incentives, have created what Accel describes as 'the most favourable macro-environment in decades.' However, execution remains a major hurdle. 'Policy tailwinds are necessary but not sufficient,' said Prayank Swaroop, another partner at Accel. He urged Indian founders to adopt a global mindset from the start in terms of product quality, supply chain design, and technology use, adding that 'precision engineering is not a niche anymore — it's the new growth engine.' The report also emphasises the need for risk-tolerant funding to support hardware development, IP creation, and the long product cycles characteristic of advanced manufacturing. It calls for urgent upskilling in areas such as AI-driven design, robotics, additive manufacturing, and IoT-enabled automation. 'Technology adoption will be the ultimate differentiator,' it states, listing AI, automation, advanced simulation, and IoT as essential infrastructure. Prakash concluded, 'If India wants to define its place in the global industrial order, this is the decade to do it… The question is no longer if we can, but whether we will seize the opportunity with the urgency it demands.'
