Debina Bonnerjee also clarified that Gurmeet Choudhary has nothing to do with her being away from the screen. In fact, he is the one who always pushes her to get back to work.
Debina Bonnerjee is all set to make her television comeback and will reunite with her husband, actor Gurmeet Choudhary, after a decade. The two, who tied the knot in 2011 and are parents to two daughters, will soon be seen in Pati Patni Aur Panga. Ahead of the show's premiere, in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Debina opened up about her comeback and expressed excitement.
'It would be fun. After a very long time, we would both be doing something together. It's always fun to be with your partner, do something with your partner. So after a long time, we got the scope to do something together, and we thought, 'yeah, it should be fun. Let's do it'," she told us.
The actress admitted that she decided to sign this show also because she thought that it might leave her some room to spend time with her daughters too. 'Whenever I was getting offers, I thought, 'Oh my God, it's like a commitment forever'. TV is like a commitment forever. You never know for how long you might be occupied. It is like being away from home, from kids for hours, not able to meet them. This is why I was also delaying (comeback)," she said.
Debina revealed that she rejected a lot of projects earlier because the sets were too far or the number of hours makers wanted her to shoot would have impacted her daughters' parenting. 'The moment I heard where the sets are or about other requirements from me, I took a back step. Because by the time I would have returned home, my kids would have been asleep. Children cannot grow up on sets. It is not healthy," she shared.
The 42-year-old actress, who rose to fame after playing the role of Sita in the television show Ramayan, explained that it is not easy to be a working mother.
'It is not equal. First of all, your body acts differently after you become a mother. You have to work doubly hard mentally. You do not get enough sleep. You constantly feel like you cannot leave your child; you have to take time for yourself also. Acting is not a 9-5 job. I have worked for 24 hours. I have seen Gurmeet also doing it. Last year, he was shooting for two shows. He was hardly at home. He could do it because I was at home. I am not sure if I can do what he was doing, where I do not know when I will return home," she said.
However, Debina also clarified that Gurmeet has nothing to do with her being away from the screen. In fact, he is the one who always pushes her to get back to work.
'I somehow feel that Gurmeet comes across as a very supportive partner. He never asked me to stay at home. I did not leave home to shoot, but I have been shooting continuously from home. I think I have evolved into a content creator now. Time changes everything. I am very comfortable in this space also. Gurmeet has also been very supportive throughout. He is doing this show (Pati Patni Aur Panga) for me. He wants me to come back. He is the most supportive partner anybody would say," she said.

She mentioned that participating in the show was their way of giving their relationship a 'last chance.' In an exclusive interview with The Times of India, Rubina shared, 'The kind of challenges we faced together in the show has made our relationship stronger. In the outside world, you have choices and you can escape, but when you are locked up in a house, you have no choice except to either fight or take flight. Ronit Roy Reveals Why Playing Mihir In Kyunki Reboot 'Didn't Work' For Him: 'Unfortunately…'

Last Updated: Ekta Kapoor's TV saga Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi returns with a limited reboot. Ronit Roy, who played Mihir Virani, is happy for the show but said he won't return. Ekta Kapoor's iconic television saga Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which originally premiered in 2000, has officially returned with a limited reboot series. The much-awaited first episode of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 dropped on July 29, 2025. Ronit Roy, who portrayed Mihir Virani from 2000 to 2008, stepping into the role after Amar Upadhyay, recently expressed his joy over the show's comeback after 25 years, and revealed why the show couldn't work out for him. Talking about Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi reboot, Ronit Roy told ETimes, 'I am happy that they decided to bring back Kyunki. Unfortunately, it did not work out for me, but, of course, Kyunki is a show that has been very close to my heart. I did Kyunki for eight years of my life. And I wish the cast and crew of Kyunki, and the makers, the very best. Looking forward to watching it." Ronit Roy also shared his thoughts on returning to a long-running television show. He said, 'So I'm not averse to doing a long show or being on television for a long time. However, as I mentioned, there is still much to be desired on television. 25 years since I began. The world has changed. Some things need to be fixed regarding television. So once that happens, I will likely be back. Till such time, I'm happy where I am." Ronit Roy also reflected on how television has evolved over the years. He admitted he wasn't entirely sure about the current landscape, calling his recent return a brief stint. Comparing it to his earlier days in the industry, he noted that while he began doing mainstream television in 2000 and it's now 2025, there's still a lot of progress to be made, adding that 'there is much to be desired." News18 Showsha in its review for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Reboot, wrote, 'Interestingly, Ekta Kapoor chose to keep the opening scene of her new show exactly the same as the iconic introductions she's known for in her earlier serials. Right from a Ganpathi idol to the dramatic camera angles and even the visual styling — nothing has changed. It's almost as if time stood still as Ekta decided to bring Tulsi back. The daily soap queen, who's often credited with shaping Indian television drama, didn't try to reinvent the wheel here. Instead, she leaned into the familiarity, perhaps intentionally, to evoke a strong sense of nostalgia among viewers." view comments First Published: July 31, 2025, 15:13 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Vikrant Massey To Win National Award For 12th Fail, Rani Mukerji 'Strong Contender' For Best Actress?

As per reports, Rani Mukerji is being considered for her role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. Amid buzz that the National Awards will be announced soon, new reports claim that Vikrant Massey will win the Best Actor award, and that Rani Mukerji is a strong contender in the Best Actress category. While Vikrant will reportedly win for 12th Fail, Rani is being considered for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. Senior Journalist Subhash K Jha quoted a source as saying, 'Vikrant Massey's performance in 12th Fail is getting him the National Award. It is final." The source also mentioned, 'For the National award for Best Actress, Rani Mukerji is a very strong contender for her role in the film, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, and there are also two actresses from the South also in the reckoning." While these are only unconfirmed speculations, Vikrant Massey's fans are waiting with bated breath to witness their favourite actor's dream come true. Earlier this year, Vikrant Massey exclusively told News18 Showsha that he has prayed for a National Award since he was a child wanting to be an actor. Reacting to the buzz around 12th Fail's speculated National Award win, Vikrant told us, 'I hope it does. And I'm sorry, without cost of sounding pompous, and with utmost humility. I hope it does. I hope the film wins an award. I hope Vidhu Vinod Chopra wins an award. I hope I win an award. I've always aspired for one." 'I've prayed for one when I was that young kid wanting to become an actor, I always wanted a National Award because that's the greatest achievement an actor in India can have, to be presented with an award by the President of the country. And I hope it happens. So, fingers crossed," the actor added. Meanwhile, on the work front, after Aankhon Ki Gustaakiyan with Shanaya Kapoor, Vikrant Massey is all set for his next film titled White, where he plays the titular role of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. As for Rani Mukerji, Mardaani 3 has been officially announced and is in production. The actress has also reportedly been roped in for Shah Rukh Khan's King. However, this is yet to be confirmed.
