GOOD NEWS: Orlando Pirates secure left-back's future!
Orlando Pirates have reportedly tied down Paseko Mako to an extended two year deal amid a lack of depth in the left-back position.
'For now, he [Mako] is the only left back who can be there next season as the future of captain Innocent Maela hangs in the balance. So that is why they have decided to keep him for a further two seasons.' a source revealed.
One of the Buccaneers current longest-servants, Mako joined in 2018, amassing 170 appearances for the Soweto giants thus far.
Bafana coach Hugo Broos believes this will be Relebohile Mofokeng's last season with Orlando Pirates, saying, 'Talking about Mofokeng, I just hope that he makes the right decisions. And that he is not going to a team where he won't play.
'I see all the things around, Barcelona and Rangers and… (sighs) I'm a little bit afraid. I just hope that the people around make the choice of the best sportive solution and not the best financial solution.
'Okay, I think his parents want the best for him, that's for sure. But there is another guy who wants to win a lot of money also, but that's the problem. But ok, let's hope, maybe I talked too soon about that.
'We'll see. I think in June, Rele will not be a player of Orlando Pirates anymore, but a good choice is very important.'

The Proteas clinched their first major global cricket title on Saturday by defeating Australia in the World Test Championship final at Lord's. In a match that saw a series of momentum shifts, it was South African who found their steele on the home straight thanks to strong batting partnership by opener Aiden Markram and injured captain Temba Bavuma. The pair contributed 143 runs to the cause, leaving the Proteas needing just 69 runs with eight wickets in hand. Long time coming? DStv considering sports-only packages
While millions of South Africans continue to ditch their DStv subscriptions, Multichoice has finally acknowledged a call for it to introduce tailor-made packages, particularly sports-only ones, featuring the SuperSport group of channels. The pay-TV company has recorded a monumental revenue loss over recent years. According to social media users, this follows the company's tone-deaf approach to affordability, diversity, and demands. Following shocking news that DStv had lost 3 million subscribers in 2 years, its parent company, Multichoice, conceded that it would consider consumer demands. For many South Africans, this means picking your own packages, tailor-made to your interests. Sports-only packages featured high up on the list. MultiChoice has reported a decline in its subscriber base for the financial year ending 31 March 2025, losing nearly 1.2 million subscribers. Currently, the SuperSport group of channels is offered on DStv's Premium package – it's most expensive – which currently costs R949. In multiple financial reports, Multichoice has acknowledged that the rising cost of living meant that 'households are struggling to make ends meet and many had no choice but to give up their DStv subscription for the time being.'
