With director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Rajinikanth-led Coolie set for release, expectations are naturally sky-high. Marking the first collaboration between one of the biggest stars in the country and one of the most successful filmmakers in contemporary Indian cinema, Coolie also features a star-studded cast, including Nagarjuna and Aamir Khan, among others.
Amid all the hype, one question that has left audiences scratching their heads is about lyricist Heisenberg, who is credited for two songs in Coolie, 'I Am The Danger' and 'Mobsta'. Interestingly, the name Heisenberg had previously appeared in the crew lists of films like Vettaiyan, Leo, Jawan and Vikram, all of which featured music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. As speculations and theories continue to do the rounds, Anirudh himself recently addressed the million-dollar question: who is Heisenberg?
'Lokesh and I will take that Heisenberg secret to the grave. Nonetheless, I must admit that he is a very talented person. All the songs that he's done for us have worked out really well, including 'Mobsta' and 'I Am The Danger.' Let's keep (Heisenberg's identity) a secret; that's only for us to know,' he said at the Coolie album launch event in Mumbai. Actors Nagarjuna and Shruti Haasan were also present.
Anirudh further revealed that the now-iconic 'Alela Polema' phrase in the track 'Mobsta' was simply gibberish he created while composing the song. They, however, decided to keep it in the final cut because Lokesh liked it so much. The composer also mentioned that it apparently meant 'we are ready to fight' in Greek. While Nagarjuna named 'Monica' as his favourite song from the album, Shruti picked 'Powerhouse'.
Wishing the movie all the best, Anirudh expressed hope for a Coolie 2. He remarked, 'Everybody knows, generally, when I really like a film that I am working on, I tweet about it with cups and fires. 10 cups and 10 fires for Coolie. I know there is a lot of expectation and hype for the movie. I don't think we have ever faced this much in our small careers. But rest assured that you guys will surely enjoy this film; it's going to be a blast.'
Opening up about his antagonistic character, Nagarjuna revealed that he's playing a 'straight-up baddie' who offers no justification for his villainy. 'I definitely don't want to tell my grandchildren about this role. He (Nagarjuna's character Simon) is too bad a person.' Expressing his elation at working with Rajinikanth, he also fondly recalled Thalaivar helping him with Tamil lines to enhance his performance. 'Though I played the most negative role, the experience (of working on the movie) was the most positive,' he added. Mentioning that he was blown away upon seeing the visuals of Nagarjuna's scenes in Coolie, Anirudh maintained that the sheer aura the Telugu legend brought to the screen was mesmerising.
Anirudh also commented that Shruti Haasan's performance in Coolie might be the finest of her career. Pointing out that the movie has a 'very strong feminine quotient,' which goes beyond her character, Shruti assured that many viewers will feel an emotional resonance with Preethi, the role she plays. She also stated that Coolie offered her a great learning experience as an actor. Coolie will hit the screens on Thursday, August 14.
