TIRUPATI: Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy inaugurated five mineral water plants at fluoride affected villages in Kandukur and Kovur assembly constituencies of Nellore district on Saturday.

The five water plants were established by the Nellore MP's VPR foundation under the 'Amruthadhara' initiative. While two mineral water plants were inaugurated in the Kandukur assembly segment at the ZP high school at Lingasamudram mandal headquarters and at Karedu village at Ulavapadu mandal, three more mineral water plants were inaugurated at Munulapudi in Buchireddipalem mandal, at Kodavaluru and at Utukuru Pallipalem in Vidavaluru mandal of the Kovur assembly constituency.
Nellore MP told reporters that the VPR foundation established by him even before he ventured into politics, was actively involved in establishing drinking water plants in the fluoride affected villages across Nellore district.
'The VPR foundation has so far established 175 drinking water plants across the district and the annual maintenance costs are also met by the foundation only. We are in the process of establishing ten more drinking water plants across the Kandukur assembly constituency soon', Nellore MP added.
Kandukur TDP legislator Inturi Nageswara Rao and Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy took part.

Under Section 55 there used to be one hour rest for five hours (work) now that has been changed to six hours," said Parthasarathy recently, elaborating on the decisions made by the cabinet to amend labour Parthasarathy noted that overtime was allowed only up to 75 hours which now has been extended up to 144 hours per quarter."Because of this (amendments to labour laws), investors in factories will (come to our state). These labour rules will be favourable for labourers and they will come to invest more. Globalisation is happening in every state. These amendments were brought to implement global rules," said the minister observed that the cabinet has also relaxed night shift rules to enable more women to work in the night to the I&PR Minister, women were not allowed to work in the night shifts earlier but now they can work with safeguards such as consent, transport facility, security and said the workplace of women during night shifts should be fully illuminated."When you work extra, income will increase. By these rules women can work in the formal sector. They empower women economically and promote gender inclusion and industrial growth. Also contribute to women's empowerment," he K Ramakrishna, State Secretary of CPI, opposed the NDA alliance government's stand on labour laws amendments. He alleged that the Central and state governments are working against the interests of workers."For the past 11 years, the Modi government has repeatedly taken measures that infringe upon workers' rights in India," Ramakrishan told PTI on oppose these rules, he said trade unions have decided to protest on July 9 all over India, adding that all sections will participate in this protest he observed that the NDA governments both at the Centre and in the state are pursuing 'anti-worker policies'.

Citing CAG data, Jagan claims Andhra's fiscal performance indicates 'distress'
CM Jagan Mohan Reddy (File Photo) YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday cited the CAG's data for the month of April and claimed Andhra Pradesh's fiscal performance indicates 'distress'.The former chief minister noted that the figures released by CAG for the month of the April 2025 convey the 'real picture'."The State GST revenues for the first month of this financial year (April 2025) demonstrated contraction to the tune of 24.20 percent, when compared to the April 2024," he said in a post on 'X'. Though the TDP-led NDA government on May 1 proclaimed that net GST collection of the state government for the month of April 2025 had been the 'highest' since the introduction of GST at Rs 3,354 crore, Reddy said technically net GST will be subsequent to all adjustments. As soon as the CAG figures have become public, the government 'mischievously' issues one more press release suggesting that even in May month the GST revenues were at record high, he alleged. "In this press release they mention that, in April, 2025, the Central Government deducted Rs 796 crores on account of adjustment of advance apportionment from IGST (integrated GST), so GST revenues have come down," said to the opposition leader, advance apportionment of IGST is accounted for under minor head 110 and is part of SGST (state GST) under major head 0006 of government said this is a regular process and net GST revenues would be arrived at after accounting for all these adjustments, and added that it was the case in the previous years as well."The May 1 press release says that net GST collection is Rs 3,354 crore for April 2025. Now, they (govt) say that Rs 796 crore is adjusted. One can clearly understand that this is nothing but a cover up after truth about the GST revenue is brought to light by the CAG," said Reddy. Further, the opposition leader observed that quite contrary to what the NDA alliance government had suggested, the figures released by CAG indicate that the 'trend of economic sluggishness' is more pronounced in April with the tax revenues dropping by 12.21 percent and non-tax revenues registering a fall of 22 percent when compared to April 2024. If the state's own revenues are taken into consideration, Reddy said, the fall over the previous year is 12.76 percent, indicating a 'very gloomy picture'. Meanwhile, there was no immediate reaction from the ruling TDP.
