Nkota spotted speaking Afrikaans to his new teammate in Saudi Arabia?

Mohau Nkota has taken the lead and joined Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia after shining for Orlando Pirates last season.
The 20-year-old winger is already among some famous company.
Former Newcastle, PSG and Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is one of his esteemed new teammates.
'Nkota is already a better player'
Pirates sign Mokoena to a three-year deal
It hasn't taken Mohau Nkota long to brush shoulders with a Champions League winner and share a few laughs in the process. Gini Wijnaldum, now 34, became a cult favourite at Liverpool for his knack of scoring goals in big games. The Dutchman won the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup with the Reds, and he's also vastly experienced on the international stage with 96 caps and 28 goals for the Netherlands. There's also former PSG, Fulham, Lyon and Atlético Madrid attacker Moussa Dembélé. A South African 'X' user likes to think that Nkota and Wijnaldum were chatting in Afrikaans. Could have been!
Details: Saleng returns to Orbit College
Meanwhile, Thabiso Monyane sounds positive about his new Soweto chapter with Kaizer Chiefs. Only time will tell whether he's made the right move in terms of trophy success, but he'll certainly get more game time after becoming a fringe player behind Deano van Rooyen and Thabiso Lebitso at Pirates.

Orlando Pirates coach finally talks about Mofokeng's potential exit

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has responded to rumours linking Relebohile Mofokeng with a move overseas. The tricky winger has been one of the best PSL players in recent years and was always poised for a move overseas. In preparation for his move, the club signed former Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis in his place. So far, Mofokeng has played all four matches for the Sea Robbers but has yet to find a goal this season. The Bafana Bafana has been linked to several teams in Europe and the Middle East in the past few months According to various reports, Major Soccer League (MSL) outfit Minnesota United are looking to offer Pirates R35 million for Mofokeng, but Ouaddou has refused to entertain the rumours. 'I'm sorry about that question [of Mofokeng], [on Wednesday] I was only focused on the game of Stellenbosch, I didn't have time to look or read in the media. What I know is, Rele is with us, he did well, it means he is with us, and I hope he [remains] with us,' the former Morocco international told the media. 'I cannot say that I see him in the future in that position [10], as a coach, you have to analyse the profile of the players that you have, analyse the connection between them, what can work, what cannot work. 'I thought he had a good connection with [Oswin] Appollis and Sebelebele, maybe we can see him again in that role, but he can still play wide; but he's a profile of a player that we need to give freedom. 'Very technically intelligent, clever, you cannot limit him. He needs freedom,' Ouaddou concluded. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Moto3 star Ruché Moodley hopes to make up for lost time

Teenager has had to fight back bravely after suffering injuries twice this season. South Africa's Moto3 sensation Ruché Moodley hopes to make up for lost time in the rest of his rookie season after recently returning from his second injury layoff. After a great start to the season, the teenager missed two races early in the season after fracturing his right arm at Jerez. Two races later his right shoulder was hurt badly in a crash at Mugello which forced him to sit out for another four races. The Denssi Motorsport KTM rider, a product of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, made a solid comeback at the Austria Grand Prix last weekend. He finished 17th to just miss out on the points. And he is confident of being in the mix again this weekend at the Hungary MotoGP. Ruché Moodley fit again 'The recovery was longer than a month as they couldn't operate on it because it was quite an awkward injury. Now I'm physically a 100%, but I've lost a lot of time on the bike. It takes a bit of time to get the confidence back,' he told The Citizen Motoring during a video call arranged by Red Bull this week. Moodley earned a point in his first race and went on to score points in three of his first four races. To put this in context, MotoGP star Brad Binder took eight races to score his first points in Moto3 and Moto2 rider Darryn Binder took 25. 'We see each other every race weekend and we always catch up when we do. Brad is very busy with all his MotoGP commitments and I see Darryn more,' said the 18-year-old Moodley. They also have experience at the tracks that are new for me. Whenever we are at a new track, they always give me some advice.' He's not heavy, he's my father The biggest influence on Moodley's career in ever-present in his own garage – his father Arushen. A former South African superbike champion, the proud dad has travelled the world over this year to be with his son. At times, he was also accompanied by Ruché's Gqeberha-based mother and sister. 'He understands how tough things can be when it is not going well. To have someone by your side that can encourage you is a good thing,' added the teenager. And he plans to take the banter a tad further when the Kiwi turns 19 this weekend. 'I have already warned him to expect a Springbok jersey for his birthday,' he chuckles. On a more serious note, Moodley will keep one eye on the future for the rest of the season as his original contract is only for this year. 'The best for me to go about it is just take it race for race and try get experience and build on my confidence,' he concluded. Ruché Moodley in action during the Moto3 season. Picture: Denssi Motorsport/BOE Binders brother on points hunt The Binder brothers will also continue their points hunt in Hungary this weekend. Brad enjoyed a solid points haul in Austria to move up to 11th in the premier class championship. What would have pleased him is that the gap between the KTMs and title race leader Marc Marquez's Ducati was a lot smaller than earlier in the season. Darryn finished in the points for the second straight race at the Red Bull Ring. It was his second 15th place finish in three races. The Balaton Park lights go out at 3pm on Saturday for the MotoGP sprint race. Sunday's racing action starts at 11am (Moto3), followed by Moto2 (12.15pm) and MotoGP (2pm). Pollard starts on Saturday — victory is guaranteed

This was a column I wrote for my blog on October 29 2023: 'Handré Pollard proved that form is temporary, but that class is permanent. Appreciate this guy, South Africa. Love him, respect him and thank him. Just hold him. 'The Springboks are world champions today and for the next four years because Handré Pollard did not miss a kick at the 2023 Rugby World Cup. 'Pollard kicked four from four, just like he did against Tonga in the final Pool match. He never missed, just like he did in the quarterfinal, semifinal and final. 'Pieter-Steph du Toit made 28 tackles in the final, Deon Fourie played for 77 minutes as a hooker. This is a guy who is 37 years-old and has played most of his career as a flanker. 'Pick them, the Bok heroes of Saturday night. You won't be wrong. 'The Boks won 12-11 against a team that played 60 minutes with 14 players and against a team in which there was never approval for the captain and coach. Somehow the Boks won, but they won because Pollard never missed and between them Richie Mo'unga and Jordie Barrett, the Kiwi kicking duo, missed with a conversion and a penalty. 'The margins in the greatest contests are always as fine as 'you hit and I miss.' Our guy hit. New Zealand's duo missed. 'The Boks have played in four finals and won four. The All Blacks have played in five and won three. The two they lost were against the Boks, in 1995 and in 2023. 'It took 28 years for these two nations to meet in a World Cup final and it was no less dramatic. The Boks could not score a try, but with Pollard there they did not have to. 'One three pointer has separated cheers and jeers with the Boks against the All Blacks since 2018. Pollard is that three pointer.' The Boks will win on Saturday in an arm wrestle and I believe they will win at Eden Park in Auckland for the first time since 1937 on September 6. Pollard starts in Cape Town on Saturday. A few months ago, so many in South African rugby were ready to put the back-to-back World Cup winner out to pasture because he was perceived as not being able to play Tony Brown's new attacking game that looks so easy on the eye for 30 minutes but has never been measured against World Cup titles. Manie, Sacha FM and even that oke who plays for the Griffons. Anybody but Pollard, said so many on social media. No, no-one but Pollard, with Sacha FM to provide the punch off the bench. The Boks will win against Australia on Saturday in an arm wrestle and I believe they will win at Eden Park in Auckland for the first time since 1937 on September 6. Why? Pollard is the greatest Springbok flyhalf and without the two-time World Cup winner, documentaries like Chasing the Sun would not exist. The greats are defined by how they perform in the biggest moments on the biggest stage. Pollard, for the Springboks at World Cups, has done it more than any other No 10 in the history of the Springboks. If the World Cup is the Holy Grail in the professional age, then Pollard's performances in the 2019 World Cup playoffs and 2023 World Cup playoffs makes him South Africa's greatest No 10. It is why his presence on Saturday must give you confidence that the Boks will win at home against Australia. It is also why the lesson is to love and say thanks to the likes of Pollard, who has done it so often, and not dismiss him for the romance of those who have never done it. In Pollard I trust.
