Anderson confident wins will come for Lancashire
England's all-time leading Test wicket-taker captained Lancashire for the first time in the Championship game in Blackpool.

But the Red Rose could not nail down a first red-ball win of the season as Kent batted out the final day for a draw.
However, Anderson was pleased with how his players took the initiative and hopes they can maintain that against Derbyshire in the next Championship match in Chesterfield.
"The positive approach we had, if we keep that and keep playing well, we have the quality in the group to win some games," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
It has been a terrible start to the Championship for Lancashire this season in Division Two following relegation, with the Red Rose picking up no wins from eight games as they sit sixth.

Captain Keaton Jennings resigned last month before head coach Dale Benkenstein was sacked a fortnight later.
Steven Croft is the interim head coach while Australia batter Marcus Harris has been appointed as the red-ball skipper.
But with Harris back home on paternity leave, Anderson has taken over for the games with Kent and Derbyshire.
Lancashire's mammoth 639-9 dec was their highest score for 10 years, with three players - Luke Wells, Josh Bohannon and Ashton Turner - scoring centuries.
And they had Kent on the ropes at 116-7 in their second innings, only for a stand of 182 between Joey Evison and Grant Stewart to effectively save the game.

"The way we applied ourselves this week felt different to the rest of the season," said Anderson.
"We had a lot of positive energy in the field and then the way we applied ourselves with the bat - we dug in when needed and when the opportunity was there to put the pressure on the opposition, we did that."
'More pressure when decisions are yours'
The game in Blackpool was Anderson's first go at leading a side despite his vast experience of 188 Tests and more than 20 years of first-class cricket.
And he admits that certain things took him by surprise.
"Day one, the concentration levels weren't quite there when I was bowling," he said.

"I was thinking about other stuff rather than where I was bowling the ball, so it took a little while to get used to that.
"For me, it was something very different. Even when I've played and not been captain, I've always thought about the game and tried to help captains out on the field.
"But obviously when the decisions are yours, you feel under that little bit more pressure.
"But I got used to it as the game went on and thoroughly enjoyed it."

Who will win the 2025-26 Premier League title?
Yahoo Sports contributors Christian Polanco and guest host Stefano Fusaro make picks for the top finishers in 2025-26 Premier League and consider if Liverpool is set up to repeat as champions. Hear the full conversation on the 'The Cooligans' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript Top topic presented by Buchanan's Blended Scotch Whiskey and official FIFA World Cup 26 supporter Nosamos Almund with a Bucanita on hand. All right, so please give us your top four in the Premier League this season. No shock. I'm gonna go with Liverpool to win again. Look, I understand that going back to back is extremely difficult, but when they've brought in the type of players that they have, I think it's to go after multiple. Titles this season. There are some challenges. I still think they're the best side top to bottom in the Premier League, so I'm going for Liverpool to win. Even though they lost the Community Shield. I mean, that's, I mean, it's not great, let me ask you a question. It's a stupid trophy anyway, right? I mean, and now if they would have won, I would have been like, oh, it's a glorious trophy. It's a very important one, but they lost, so we can say it's a stupid trophy. That was almost. Wake-up call in my opinion. Uh, to go real quick through the other top four. So I'm going to Liverpool to win. Chelsea second, Man City third, Arsenal fourth. Those are my top four. Chelsea, I think, is going to have a fantastic season. I think they will, they will be fighting, um, for the Premier League. I think they will be fighting, uh, by the end of the season, even maybe in the Champions League as well. I, I think it's has a very deep side. That has so many options, and I feel like they're ready to make the next step. Man City, they're gonna come back and have a great season. I don't think it's gonna be as bad as they were last year. They will win something this year. Not sure what they'll win, but I do think that Pep's not gonna let this go down the drain, down the toilet again, and I think that they have had enough signings that have come in to kind of replace some of the players that have that have out that have left the club, like Jack Grealish and some others as well. Uh, and I think Arsenal. You know, I think a lot of people are picking Arsenal to win the Premier League, and I'm just asking, um, have they done enough? Is Victor D Joker is the guy who's going to finally score 25 goals in a season for Arsenal? You know, the last guy who scored 25 goals in a season for Arsenal? Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. That's how long. That it's been without a 25-goalscorer in a season. I don't know if Victor Join is going to be that guy. If he is, then I may be wrong about my prediction. But as of now, I still don't think that they've done enough to push them forward and be a better team than Liverpool or even Chelsea with how deep they are now. Close

Louis Rees-Zammit signs with Bristol Bears on return to rugby
BRISTOL, England (AP) — Wales winger Louis Rees-Zammit signed with Bristol Bears on Thursday in a resumption of his rugby career after an 18-month spell in American football. The 24-year-old Rees-Zammit announced two weeks ago that ' it's time to come home ' after spending all of last season on the practice squad of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars. 'Bristol Bears was the obvious choice for me,' he said in the team's announcement. 'The style of rugby the team play — all about entertaining the fans and growing the game — perfectly aligns to how I want to play and how I express myself on and off the field.' Rees-Zammit had left English rugby club Gloucester in early 2024 to join the NFL's international player pathway program. He spent five months working as a running back with the Kansas City Chiefs before switching to receiver with the Jaguars, but he never made an active roster. In rugby union, Rees-Zammit has scored 14 tries in 32 test appearances for Wales and was selected on the British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa in 2021. Rees-Zammit was considered one of the world's most exciting rugby players before leaving to chase an NFL dream. He plans to pick up where he left off. 'I want to get fans out of their seats, create exciting moments and help people fall in the love with the game,' he said. "I'm excited to return to rugby at a club that demands those values. I'm looking forward to working with my teammates, Pat Lam and the coaches and all the backroom team to bring success to the Bears.' ___ AP rugby:

Callum Hudson-Odoi close to agreeing new contract with Nottingham Forest
Callum Hudson-Odoi is close to agreeing a new contract with Nottingham Forest. His original contract with the club was a three-year deal and is set to expire next summer. Hudson-Odoi, 24, came through Chelsea's academy and made 126 senior appearances before leaving for Forest in 2023, the summer after a year-long loan at Bayer Leverkusen. Advertisement The winger has made 70 appearances, registering 13 goals and six assists, over two seasons at the Midlands club. Last season he played 36 matches in all competitions despite picking up a couple of injuries. Forest have experienced multiple changes to their attacking players this summer. They lost wingers Antony Elanga and Ramon Sosa to Newcastle United and Palmeiras respectively. This has been partially balanced by the signing of Dan Ndoye from Bologna for £35million ($47.5m). The Athletic reported on Thursday that Forest are in the process of agreeing a deal with Ipswich Town for Omari Hutchinson, who also came through Chelsea's academy. A deal has been agreed, however, for Manchester City's James McAtee, per The Athletic. Hudson-Odoi appeared at multiple age-group levels of England's national set-up before making his senior debut in 2019. He has been capped three times but the last of which was in November 2019.
