MasterChef Australia contestant eliminated after 'daunting' challenge went wrong - as the cooking competition nears final weeks

Daily Mail06-07-2025
MasterChef Australia is getting to the pointy end with just eight contestants left in the competition.
On Sunday night, the latest chef from the Back To Win season to leave the kitchen was Audra Morrice.
Audra, who first appeared on MasterChef Australia in 2012, saw her Spanish seafood paella deemed 'inconsistent' by the judges, and she was sent home.
'I actually feel really good. I came in to show the simplicity of cultural cuisine. And that food doesn't always have to be complicated' the chef said upon getting the bad news that she was out of the competition.
'This kitchen is addictive. I won't deny it was a bit daunting. It really put me out of my comfort zone, which I love' she added.

Speaking to website Draw Your Box, Audra said that she has relished reliving the challenge.
'I just kind of went into this and just cooked what came to mind and what I felt in the flow of the moment' she said.
'Sometimes it was an epic success, sometimes it was a disastrous fail, but all I wanted to do was cook wholeheartedly and put delicious food on the table.'
Last week, an emotional Poh Ling Yeow struggled to hold back tears on as she bid farewell to contestant Andre Ursini.
Andre appeared alongside Poh on the inaugural MasterChef season back in 2009.
However, his second chance at success was foiled after he lost a Pressure Test that tasked Andre and fellow contestants Alanah Lowes and Snezana Calic with recreating an ornate dessert by renowned pastry chef Philip Khoury.
When it came time for Andre to make his exit, judge Poh became emotional when reflecting on the journey that she and Andre had started together.
'Andre, we started this journey together – whoa – 16 years ago,' Poh said, with tears welling in her eyes.
'For the past 16 years, I've watched you not only become a really brilliant cook and an amazing entrepreneur, but an amazing husband and dad.'
An emotional Poh added that having the chance to see Andre in the MasterChef kitchen again was a pleasure.
'It's been so nice and fun to be back in the kitchen with you,' she said.
'I love that you've always marched to the beat of your own drum.'
Poh then lightened the mood, joking: 'And I hope that that never changes, even though sometimes I do – no I don't, I really don't.'
Obviously touched by Poh's heartwarming tribute, Andre wasn't shy about returning the compliments.
'I was pretty inspired that first time I walked in – seeing my mate in the bright shining light where she belongs,' he said.
Andre continued to heap praise on the MasterChef judge saying: 'Poh is a jewel in the crown of the Australian culinary scene.'
'She's one of the most genuine and unique individuals that we've all been around.
'She's basically going to start levitating any year now,' he joked.
Speaking to camera after making his emotional exit, Andre was philosophical about his elimination, despite being 'devastated'.
'Being eliminated, I'm devastated, but I've come so far in the competition,' he said.
'It's taken me 16 years to re-emerge – I came in here with no expectations and got to top ten.
'I'm feeling pretty invigorated. I've rediscovered my passion for cooking after all these years and, from now on until the time I die, I'm going to keep cooking.'

Rosie O'Donnell is marveling at the slimmed down figure she has achieved with the help of weight loss drug Mounjaro. The former talk show host, 63, has been taking the drug since late 2022, yet remains in disbelief over how far she has come. In her latest Instagram post, Rosie revealed she is now a size 12 - and praised the drug as a 'life saver'. Rosie showed off her dramatic results as she went shopping for a new travel outfit, her slimmed down body on display in a fitted black track suit. 'ok so went shopping to but a comfy lounge wear outfit for my 22 hour flight to australia- was undecided as i cant see myself in this new smaller body- cam n robin took this photo of me in the dressing room - i am shocked im a 12 - #mounjaro is a life saver,' she gushed in the caption. Fans were equally impressed in the comments, with one merely stating 'WOW' (along with a few emojis) in response to the picture. Kristin Chenoweth also chimed in, writing: 'You look amazing!' Another wrote: 'It is a life changing med! Not only does it help you lose weight but decreases the inflammation in your body so you feel so much better. Rosie - you look great and hope you feel great too!!' One complimented her: ''I've been needing this for years but my insurance won't cover it. You look awesome-although your Beautiful soul shines through in ANY body.' Mounjaro 'is an injectable prescription medicine that is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose) in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus,' per the official website. Back in March of this year, O'Donnell talked about her 'shocking' new size after taking the medication. In a TikTok video uploaded at the time, she explained to her followers: 'I am on Mounjaro for my diabetes and one of the side effects is you lose weight. 'But [the weight loss] is also because I had a chef for over two years in Los Angeles and I don't have a chef now. It's me cooking for [my child] Clay and me.' The TV personality then recalled how she went to a clothing store in Dublin and revealed she was a size large after previously wearing sizes XL or XXL. 'I find it shocking. I really do. I find it completely shocking,' the mom-of-five expressed. Being on Mounjaro has not only aided her in losing weight, but has made her feel 'healthier' and she is also 'sleeping better.' Back in January 2023, Rosie revealed she had been prescribed the medication and credited it with helping her drop 10 pounds during the holiday season. While taking her child to school, the star explained on TikTok: 'I need to let you know I've lost 10lbs since Christmas.' She added that she had been taking Mounjaro after a fan commented, 'You can't drop a bomb like that and not tell us HOW???' Rosie stated, 'Okay, so like two months ago, my doctor put me on... not Ozempic, Mounjaro? Something like that, and Repath.' She added, 'One I do every other week, and one I do once a week. And that and on Christmas, I stopped drinking anything except water. 'Now I have had champagne one night, that was a toast, and some wine one night, so it hasn't been 100% but I really stopped drinking like five or six Diet Coke's a day.' Rosie now only sticks to drinking water and has reduced her sugar intake while also sharing, 'And my appetite has decreased significantly. 'It's probably the meds, and I'm trying to move more, so all of those things combined, that's what it is.' In a recent weight loss update, she continued to marvel at her results with a photo of her doing stand-up. In the caption of the picture, the star penned to her followers: 'i cant believe this is me now #mounjaro #weightloss #bodydismorphia.'

Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery reveals why he QUIT Hollywood after finding fame

Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery has revealed why he stepped out of the spotlight after finding success in Hollywood. The 30-year-old Perth-born actor recently spoke with The Australian, discussing his retreat from stardom. 'I think things have changed,' he explained. 'Traditional Hollywood stars existed because there was mystery... Social media has done away with that. That's a large part of why I dropped off the map for the last five years.' He added, 'I'm not trying to compete with anyone else, I'm living my truth — and hopefully being able to pay the rent while I'm doing it.' The star first appeared on the Netflix sci-fi hit — alongside Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, and more — as Billy Hargrove in 2017's season two. 'I've given a piece of myself to every role I've played and that's largely why I've taken time off,' Dacre noted. 'Lately, there's been a lot of personal reflection about what I want in my career. I'm trying to gain a bit more control over where and what I'm working on.' Dacre will not appear in the upcoming fifth and final season of the series, as his character was killed off in season three. Fans can next see him onscreen in the psychological thriller Went Up The Hill, which will be released on August 15. He is also readying to star in his directorial debut, The Engagement Party, which was announced in September 2024. In May, the lifelong performer said in a statement shared by Deadline, 'I could not be more honoured to be directing The Engagement Party, a film with an extremely important and timely message. 'I'm equally thrilled to have such a wonderful team of collaborators to help bring this story to life.' And the star said to The Australian: 'Not to be too sadomasochistic about it, but I really believe failure and rejection are the best form of learning. 'Joel Edgerton is a great example of an Australian actor who has become a director. 'His brother Nash, a great friend and mentor, is producing this film and he's generously offered to come over and do what he does with Joel when they work together.' Dacre — whose parents also work in the film industry — told The Daily Telegraph last year that he did not plan to appear in his directorial debut, although that has since changed. He said at the time: 'I'm not looking for this to be an engine for my acting career at all. 'I want to direct, and I'm serious about directing, so I'm taking it seriously and not trying to use it as something else.' The film is an intimate and intense drama.

Everything you need to know about fat jabs Weight loss jabs are all the rage as studies and patient stories reveal they help people shed flab at almost unbelievable rates, as well as appearing to reduce the risk of serious diseases. Wegovy – a modified version of type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic – and Mounjaro are the leading weight loss injections used in both the US and the UK. How do they work? The jabs work by suppressing your appetite, making you eat less so your body burns fat for energy instead and you lose weight. They do this my mimicking a hormone called GLP-1, which signals to the brain when the stomach is full, so the drugs are officially called GLP-1 receptor agonists. They slow down digestion and increase insulin production, lowering blood sugar, which is why they were first developed to treat type 2 diabetes in which patients' sugar levels are too high. Are there any risks? Yes – side effects are common but most are relatively mild. Around half of people taking the drug experience gut issues, including sickness, bloating, acid reflux, constipation and diarrhoea. Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and clinical consultant at said: 'One of the more uncommon side effects is severe acute pancreatitis, which is extremely painful and happens to one in 500 people.' Other uncommon side effects include altered taste, kidney problems, allergic reactions, gallbladder problems and hypoglycemia. Evidence has so far been inconclusive about whether the injections are damaging to patients' mental health. Figures obtained by The Sun show that, up to January 2025, 85 patient deaths in the UK were suspected to be linked to the medicines Rosie revealed she was using mounjaro back in January 2023. She revealed that she was starting her weight loss transformation in a TikTok video. Rosie then shared an update this March, revealing how she had "lost more weight". After moving to Ireland, she said, "I've lost more weight. "I am on Mounjaro for my diabetes and one of the side effects is you lose weight. "But it's also because I had a chef for over two years in Los Angeles and I don't have a chef now. It's me cooking for Clay and me." 5
