‘Predator: Badlands' Trailer Teams Elle Fanning With an Alien Hunter
'Predator: Badlands,' arriving in theaters on Nov. 7, has been shrouded in mystery. Until now.
The trailer for the new film from 'Prey' director Dan Trachtenberg has just arrived from the recesses of deep space and you can watch it below.
If 'Prey' was a grounded prequel telling the story of one of the first times the alien hunter landed on earth, then 'Predator: Badlands' buries the needle in the opposite direction, full of giant monsters, killer vines and an unlikely alliance between a young Predator named Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) and Thia (Elle Fanning), who based on this trailer looks to be playing an android. (Could the 'Alien' and 'Predator' worlds be more formally merging in this installment?)
'Prey' was such a refreshing rejuvenation of the franchise that began with John McTiernan's 'Predator' back in 1987 and continued with Stephen Hopkins' underrated 'Predator 2' in 1990, Nimrod Antal's 'Predators' in 2010 and Shane Black's 'The Predator' in 2018. There were also two 'Alien vs. Predator' movies in 2004 and 2007, but the less said about those the better.
What's wild is that 'Predator: Badlands' is the second 'Predator' movie that Trachtenberg has coming out this year. On June 6, 'Predator: Killer of Killers,' an R-rated animated feature, will debut on Hulu. It's an anthology film comprised of three stories taking place in different eras where a Predator has been encountered — with stories about a Viking raider, a ninja in Feudal Japan and a World War II pilot investigating otherworldly visitations.
In other words – everything is coming up 'Predator!'

‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' Season 2 Reunion Announced
God (Hulu) has answered my prayers (angry demands). We're getting a Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 2 reunion. And the first look photos are already causing drama. Hulu announced the reunion on Thursday, June 5, less than a month after season 2 premiered. 'After a shocking end to season 2, host Nick Viall reunites all of #MomTok and #DadTok to uncover secrets and scandals, never-before-seen footage, and a surprise announcement in the first-ever reunion special for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,' reads the press release. But who is 'all of #MomTok'? Based on the first look photos teasing the reunion, it looks like Taylor Frankie Paul, Jen Affleck, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Taylor, Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Matthews, Whitney Leavitt, and Miranda McWhorter will all be in attendance. As for their group nemesis Demi Engemann, she's nowhere in sight. Could this mean she's done with the show for good? Demi's absence shouldn't come as a huge shock. She stormed out of a #MomTok meeting in the season 2 finale after failing to kick Taylor out of the group, saying she needed a break. But is Demi really done with #MomTok, or could she return? Before you read too much into her absence, it's important to note that Whitney, who last we saw was newly voted back into #MomTok, is taking part in the reunion, as is Miranda, who has yet to be voted on at all. So it looks like despite her #MomTok status, Demi made a conscious choice to skip the event. Read into that what you will... Meanwhile, most of the #MomTok husbands and/or partners will also be participating. A sneak peek at the reunion shows six of the #DadTok members sitting in chairs behind the main cast, including Taylor's ex Dakota Mortensen, Mayci's husband Jacob Neely, Mikayla's husband Jace Terry, Jen's husband Zac Affleck, Whitney's husband Conner Leavitt, and Jessi's husband Jordan Ngatikaura. (That's one way to put those Jessi cheating rumors to bed!) Finally, the show will be hosted by Bachelor alum Nick Viall, who has had most of the cast on his podcast, The Viall Files. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 2 reunion will air July 1 on Hulu. I will be seated.

Watch: 'Man in My Basement' teaser shows Willem Dafoe move in

The thriller film is based on the novel by Walter Mosley, who co-wrote the screenplay with director Nadia Latif. The trailer released Thursday begins with a loud knock at the door that awakens Charles Blakey (Hawkins). Anniston Bennet (Dafoe) stands on the doorstep of the home, located in 1994 Sag Harbor, New York. "I have it in mind to rent your basement for a couple months," Bennet says, emphasizing that he is "only interested in renting." "I'll pay you $1,000 a day for 65 days," he proposes. The money would enable Blakey to keep his home, which had been in his family a long time and was facing foreclosure. Bennet's arrival, however, brings "in a force much darker than" Blakey anticipated. "We're exploring mental health, trauma, exploitation, and yes, the nature of evil, but we're also dealing with legacy, lineage, home and love," Hawkins told Entertainment Weekly. "A script centered on blackness in middle-class Sag Harbor in the '90s is loaded with cultural significance." An official release date has not yet been shared.

The first 'Alien: Earth' trailer just landed — and it was more than worth the wait
Calling 'Alien: Earth' my most anticipated show of 2025 feels like an understatement. As a superfan of all things 'Alien' — it's not just my favorite film franchise but my favorite IP in all of media, period — I thought my hype levels for the upcoming FX show could not be higher, but the first "Alien: Earth" trailer has just made the wait until its premiere on August 12 almost painful. After months of teasing and a few short spots that showed very little beyond unsatisfying glimpses of the full beast to come, FX just dropped a full two and a half minute trailer, and it's truly glorious. The 'Alien' superfan in me was literally leaping out of my office chair with excitement several times. You can watch the trailer for yourself down below: Opening with a countdown interspersed with quick cuts from the trailer to come, the densely-packed first look does the one thing I was hoping it would: It focuses on the show's cast of characters rather than the Xenomorph. We learn of a young girl who is going to be 'the first person to transition from a human body to a synthetic." When has megacorporation playing God ever gone wrong in the 'Alien' universe? Next, we're introduced to the show's lead character, Wendy (Sydney Chandler), who appears to be said young girl now fully implanted into a synthetic body. Wendy volunteers to lead a group of soldiers to recover something hidden deep within a crashed spaceship, and no prizes for guessing what they're going to find on this vessel. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The use of the series's now iconic musical cue, first introduced in 2012's 'Prometheus,' just adds to the overwhelming sense of dread. However, what has impressed me most about the trailer is the stunning production design. I did have a fear that in the transition from the big screen to the smaller one, some of the franchise's unique visual identity would be lost, but that appears to be an unnecessary concern. There's no denying that, based on this trailer, 'Alien: Earth' looks like ... well, 'Alien.' Smartly, the trailer is also extremely light on glimpses of the Xenomorph itself. The "Alien" series is always at its best when the headline monster is used sparingly, and I really hope this cards-to-the-chest approach is mirrored in the full series. Often, the threat that a tooth-tongued xeno is lurking in a dark corner is more impactful than a close-up encounter. If you've missed all the hype already surrounding 'Alien: Earth,' it's the first TV show set in the legendary sci-fi horror franchise, and comes from Noah Hawley, the creator of fellow FX series 'Fargo' and 'Legion.' Alongside Chandler, it'll feature Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav and Kit Young. As noted, 'Alien: Earth' is set to premiere August 12 on FX and Hulu (or Disney Plus in the U.K.). Somebody get me a cryosleep pod, I can't wait that long. OK, so I've gone full fanboy above, but to add a cautious counterpoint, there is one aspect of the trailer that has me concerned. The hints of additional 'predatory' creatures beyond Xenomorph contained within the crashed spaceship have flared up my fears that this show will be a stealth setup for a new 'Alien vs. Predator' crossover. The inclusion of a Weyland-Yutani synthetic in the most recent trailer for the upcoming 'Predator: Badlands' adds more fuel to the fire. It's pretty hard to deny that all signs point to the 'Alien' and 'Predator' universes being smushed together once again. I don't hate the 'AVP' series — well, I don't hate the first 'AVP' movie; the sequel was hot garbage — it was my entry point into the 'Alien' franchise as a youth. A youth who was far too young to be watching such an R-rated flick. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that 'Alien' and 'Predator' are both better standalone, and I'd much rather the two weren't spliced together. Especially after the fantastic 'Alien: Romulus' (which I've now watched more than 10 times) got the series back on track in style, I'm just not convinced now is the time to try to make 'AVP' a thing again. However, like it or not, it certainly appears that is what's going to happen, in at least some form or another. Nevertheless, even my concerns about this potential crossover aren't enough to blunt my anticipation, and come August, I look forward to thoroughly annoying my friends (and a few colleagues) by literally never shutting up about 'Alien: Earth.' Here's hoping the final product thrills me as much as this trailer. Now I'm off to rewatch it frame-by-frame to find more clues.
