Group of Surrey men hike 11 mountains in a day for charity
A group of Surrey men are set to hike up 11 mountains in a day to raise money for charity. The 22 dads from the Epsom area will take on the "Carneddau to Coast" challenge across the rugged mountains of Wales. The Epsom Trailblazers will walk the 30km route with a 1,700m ascent to raise money for the Queen Elizabeth's Foundation for Disabled People and the Brain Tumour Charity."Doubtlessly it's going to be a challenge," said David Lyle, detailing how the route in Snowdonia was "very remote" and could get "a bit dangerous".
"But we have been doing a lot of training," he continued. "I am sure we'll pull together and get through it - some how."
Mr Lyle said the "good group of friends" were planning to finish the feat all together in around 12 hours, after starting at 5:00 BST. They would be taking beers in a cool box for when they finish and already had a curry house booked for the evening, he added. "Hopefully, we'll finish by then," Mr Lyle told BBC Radio Surrey.
Established in 2016, the Trailblazers' charity hikes have raised over £55,000 in recent years through walking challenges. Their fifth charity challenge has raised nearly £8,000 so far. "Their determination, camaraderie and generosity are truly inspiring," said Firzana Khan, community fundraiser for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Celebrities embark on 555-mile cycle for MND research and deliver Lions match ball
A team of celebrities and rugby players are preparing for a 555-mile cycle challenge around the island of Ireland to raise funds for research into motor neurone disease (MND) in memory of the late Doddie Weir. Weir died of MND aged 52 in November 2022, after years of campaigning to raise awareness of the condition and funds into research. Scottish rugby legend Kenny Logan and his television presenter wife Gabby are among those preparing to take part in Doddie'5 Lions Challenge, cycling around 100 miles a day for six days, departing from Belfast on Sunday. The team will cycle through counties including Galway, Limerick and Cork, to arrive in Dublin on June 20 and deliver the match ball to the Aviva Stadium for the British and Irish Lions' 1888 Cup clash with Argentina. Some participants have had to pull out due to injury, including Weir's son Hamish, who will instead drive a support vehicle, while Scotland rugby stars Bryan Redpath and Hugo Southwell, and ex-Lions and Ireland international Rob Henderson, will also no longer be able to take part. Football legend Ally McCoist, actor Jamie Bamber, former Harlequins player Mel Deane, and cancer campaigner Iain Ward will all take part alongside the Logans. The challenge has raised more than £300,000 for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association so far, with hopes of reaching £500,000 before Sunday. Kenny Logan will lead the team, and he has been doing intensive hill sessions on an exercise bike twice a week ahead of his second endurance fundraiser for MND research. He joined the Edinburgh to Paris cycle in 2023 which raised almost £1 million. He said: 'We've lost a few to injury, and it just shows how demanding this is going to be. I've had my own aches and pains. No major injuries thankfully but I've definitely been reminded why I probably shouldn't be moving this much at my age. 'I'm most nervous about the hills. I convinced myself Ireland was flat – it's definitely not. But nerves are good. I've always had them before a big challenge. 'The support's been incredible. We've still got time to push, and every penny counts. 'Since Doddie died, awareness has grown massively – but we still need to fund research. The foundation has committed nearly £20 million already, which is phenomenal, but it's only the beginning. 'Doddie would be proud – but he'd be telling us to go further and faster. That's why we're doing this.' He joked that McCoist needed some help with bike maintenance. Logan said: 'Ally's been out and about, but his bike broke down the other day. I told him not to trust himself to check the batteries on his fancy gears – someone else needs to do that for him.' Weir set up the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation in 2017, the year after he was diagnosed with MND. All funds raised form the cycle will support the foundation to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure for MND.

Louis Tomlinson and Sam Thompson hold Soccer Aid ‘peace' dinner to put any awkwardness over Zara McDermott behind them
LOVE rivals Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson had dinner together during a Soccer Aid team bonding session to ease any tension between them before today's big match. I'm told the ex- One Direction star and I'm A Celeb winner are determined to put any awkwardness over Zara McDermott behind them. 13 13 They are both part of the England team taking on a World XI for UNICEF. Louis is romancing TV presenter Zara, who split with Sam late last year. The dinner took place with the lads and some teammates at Champneys spa in Tring, Herts, where they have been training for the match at Old Trafford. A source said: 'There is no beef between the pair and they're both going to ensure their love lives don't distract from such a big charity spectacle. They are fully aware that their every move is being scrutinised and they've broken bread with their teammates, so it'll be smooth sailing on the day.' Zara has already ruled herself out of attending. Sam also presented a video of his charity work in Guatemala to both sets of players. He said: 'I did a small talk in front of everyone, which was terrifying, and I maintain I think it's the most important thing I've done in my 32 years of life. 'I really do believe that. Getting to go to Guatemala to see what UNICEF do on the ground is just life-changing.' Unfortunately, Sam has been ruled out of playing in the game. He suffered injuries during his 260-mile running and cycling trek between London and Manchester, in aid of UNICEF, ahead of the match. Sam Thompson breaks silence on injury that forced him out of Soccer Aid and says he had to be 'carried' to physio room Sam explained: 'I'm now part of the coaching team, so I'm going to be on the sidelines along with Vicky McLure and also Tyson Fury, and I'm going to be putting my two pence in. "But I will still get to be part of it all.' HARRY: TYSON IS BOSS HARRY REDKNAPP will let England assistant boss Tyson Fury do whatever the boxer wants as he makes his coaching debut at Soccer Aid. They are part of a four-way management team that also includes Wayne Rooney and Vicky McLure. 13 13 Ex-Portsmouth and Spurs manager Harry said: 'It'll be a joint affair, but if Tyson says it's happening, we're not going to argue.' He added: 'He's very similar to my old number two Joe Jordan. He was very quiet and would just look at an opposing manager and go 'shut it' and they would not say another word.' GORKA GLOVES PADDY DANCER Gorka Marquez has turned into a Strictly scout looking for potential Soccer Aid talent to be in the next series. He reckons newly single TV and radio host Paddy McGuinness in training as goalie, would be a top signing. 13 Gorka revealed: 'Paddy has talent and he's funny. He would be great.' Gorka insisted he had no plans to retire from the hit BBC One programme. He said: 'Why would I want to leave the biggest show on TV? I want to be like Anton Du Beke, still competing at the age he was.' BEY BROOD'S STAGE 'NO' BEYONCE is giving her kids great music experience by featuring them in her Cowboy Carter tour. But the youngsters, who have also been on Bey's records, are not certain to follow in their mum's footsteps, according to grandma Tina Knowles. She said: 'Beyonce's kids go on tour with her every single time since they were newborns. And it's wonderful for them.' Tina added: 'I don't know if they're going to go into that business or not. I hope that they don't.' Speaking of Bey and Jay-Z's eldest daughter Blue Ivy, who at 13 is a talented dancer, Tina told Sirius FM: 'Blue is super-talented, but Blue also rides horses well, plays the piano. She is multi-talented. So we don't know what she is going to do. And she's a spitfire.' Just like mum . . . Rita fourer RITA ORA has always been a fashionista with evolving style – but four outfits in one day is quite a stretch even for her. The singer showed off her gym-honed physique as she promoted new single Heat around London, including at two radio stations. 13 13 As the day progressed, she went from a couple of sporty looks – and a bralette and eye-catching pink feathery sandals – to jeans and a blouse. Rita still managed to look fantastic in all of them. DANNY'S PERFECT END TO ED ROW ED SHEERAN and Danny Dyer had a bizarre falling out over fish and chips – but have buried the hatchet thanks to football. It started earlier this year when the Perfect singer bashed London chippies, saying: 'You should always be able to see the sea when you have fish and chips, so anywhere that does traditional fish and chips in London. It's like getting sushi in Alabama.' To which proud Cockney geezer Danny fired back: 'That would only be a man who is not from London who would say that. 'I think he's from Ipswich, which I think sums him up.' Ouch. But Ed whisked actor Danny off to see his beloved West Ham play Ipswich Town last month. In a pre-recorded podcast chat with Louis Theroux, which has just dropped, Ed said: 'I was asked about fish and chips and I said you have to see the seaside to eat them, and I wouldn't necessarily want to eat them in London. He took a big offence to that. 'It was a jokey offence, he had a pop at me and I got in contact with him and just said, 'Come to Ipswich'.' He added: 'I love Danny Dyer, we used to have Danny Dyer nights on tour. We watched every single Danny Dyer film.' West Ham won 3 -1, so Danny had the last laugh. YUNG'S GAL PALS YUNGBLUD has set the record straight on some of the famous women in his life, from Anais Gallagher to Florence Pugh. The singer revealed he connected with Florence, who appears in the video for new single Zombie, by messaging her on Instagram. 13 13 He said: 'She's a f*****g legend. I just slipped into her DMs and we became really good mates. We are going for dinner next week to celebrate the album coming out. 'I asked her to be in the video and I really wanted to make a piece of art with a true great British actress and artist.' Yungblud is single after splitting from US musician and actor Jesse Jo Stark, who he reveals is the 'love of my life'. He also opened up about his close friendship with Anais, who is the daughter of Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher. Yungblud insists he is mates with her fella, actor Callum Scott Howells. He said: 'Of course I'm mates with Callum. Everyone is naughty. Anais is one of my best mates. 'Everyone is speculating, but I love Callum. He's a geezer. 'Anais makes me laugh. She is hilarious. I think she is a legend.' Yungblud will hold his very own one-day music festival, Bludfest, at Milton Keynes Bowl on Saturday. He said: 'It feels like all my plans are coming together. This is the fun part. It's now time for me to enjoy it.' KADY NOSE BEST THE already gorgeous Love Islander Kady McDermott has had a non-surgical nose job. She visited skin treatment expert Dr Motox, who performed the same filler tweakment on Ekin-Su Culculoglu. 13 Kady is no stranger to cosmetic procedures, and has had a breast enlargement. She said previously: 'Plastic surgery is such a personal thing and if someone wants to do it, they should. I'm doing a lot of bikini modelling and I'll feel more confident with them done.'
