Romano wrote on X: "Carlos Forbs is set to join Club Brugge from Ajax, here we go! Deal done for €8.5m fee.
"The player is traveling to Belgium tonight ahead of his medical tomorrow.
"Forbs opted for the Brugge project over offers from England, Italy and Scotland."
Now, he has sealed his move from the Netherlands to Belgium for a fee of around £7.4m.
Of the two Glasgow teams, it was likely Celtic who were keen on the former Wolves man.
The Hoops were previously linked with Forbs back in the summer of 2023, during Brendan Rodgers' first few months back in Glasgow.

Rangers transfer guru in a blind panic over next Celtic signing as Hotline warned a superstar is on his way

Graeme Young answers your calls as the latest move from the champions is causing alarm across the Clyde. You only know if you've made a right call over a signing until they don their new club's colours and strut their stuff on the pitch. ‌ But if Celtic were looking for reassurances over a long-term target then it came in the form of a Rangers fanatic on the other side of the pond who obsesses over transfer and has more tips than a horse racing expert on the week of Cheltenham. ‌ And this familiar Stateside voice returned to the phone-in where big opinions are welcomed. He previously pleaded with Rangers to make high-rising Wilfried Nancy their new boss but he returns with bad news for his pals in Light Blue. ‌ Tom Starr, Cleveland, Ohio, said: "I spend my time glued to watching players I think would be good fits for my Rangers and Michel Ange-Balikwisha came on my radar when Celtic were linked in the last two windows. I made a series of notes on him and the name I kept scribbling down was Scott Sinclair. "Annoyingly this looks like another sharp bit of business by them and it's causing me double the worry because this guy will be cutting in and Kieran Tierney will be bombing past Tav. Rangers need some proper signings and quick. I have a list if Kevin Thelwell would like a peek." Stephen Mulheron, Dumbarton, is desperate for a deal to be struck. He said: "I don't understand why Celtic are still haggling over a fee for Michel Ange Balkwisha after spending serious money on Idah and Engels last season. Why are we holding back this season? "A game changer is needed up front to progress in Europe Balkwisha ticks all the boxes and I'll be hugely disappointed if Celtic don't get this deal over the line." And Celtic's transfer business even had another Rangers fan wondering if those who follow the Premiership champions will ever be happy? Kenny Cosh, Old Kilpatrick, said: "Celtic fans moan when they spend big and complain when they find bargains, they slag Rangers when they look in England for bargains and hit out when we try something different. There is no pleasing a fanbase who claim they aren't bored of winning. Something is making them grumpy but only 10 months until the biggest street party in history when Russell leads the biggest team in Scotland back to their rightful summit. ‌ Regulars are sick and tired of the snash being directed the way of Celtic from a team he reckons have little to shout about. Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, said: "How bad it must be for Hotline callers of a light blue persuasion? All they go on about is Celtic's record in Europe, their team held the record for worst team in Europe. And are miles behind there biggest rivals." ‌ Peter Lyons, Blantyre, added: "Just to remind Mr Flett and Gowers that their club are MINNOWS in Europe as they continually play in the second division of Europe. Can I remind him how his team played in the big bhoys league?. Yup, worst team ever in the Champions League." Sean McGarvey said: "Are Rangers blowhards like Allan Flett and Donald Dundas aware of the analogy of crabs in a bucket? The two of them couldn't spell Champions League yet try to lump the world's most successful club, their country's champions into the same boat as them. "Crabs in a bucket try to drag the successful crab that's escaped down to the rest of the crabs level. Ring any bells?" Hearts are the shortest price they've been in years to win the title at 16/1 and belief is palpable down Gorgie Way that something special is brewing. Ellis Wilson, Morningside, said: "I genuinely think we are going to split the gruesome twosome from Glasgow this season. Claudio Braga is a proper talent and you can tell Derek McInnes is itching to prove everyone wrong. I think we'll start fast and if Tony Bloom can conjure up some more transfer magic in January then I see no reason why the Jambos won't be in the mix until the very end."

Celtic players 25/26: Brendan Rodgers' £105m squad value revealed as £13.7m star named key man

Celtic fans have their sights set on being crowned champions for the fifth successive Scottish Premiership season, with head coach Brendan Rodgers just one title away from securing a record 56th title win in the club's history ahead of the new season started on August 3. With six new signings already in the door at Celtic Park, Rodgers' promise to re-fresh his squad this summer has been fulfilled and Celtic's starting XI may look a little different when they kick-off the campaign with a home game against St Mirren. There have been outgoing too, with Nicolas Kuhn and Greg Taylor the two big name departures, though there are almost certain to be more incomings and outgoings as the summer progresses. But have the new faces that have been value to Celtic's squad? And how much is the current squad worth? With a reported squad value of £105million, The Scotsman look at how much each Hoops player is valued, from the lowest to the highest, according to the transfer values set by popular football statistics site FotMob. 1 . Spiky Viktor Gyokeres comment made as Arsenal transfer update causes upset

Viktor Gyokeres' transfer to Arsenal has yet to be confirmed with the proposed move continuing to drag on, and there's now been an update on the Swede's likely replacement at Sporting CP Arsenal's efforts to clinch the signing of Viktor Gyokeres could be dealt a potential blow following the latest update on the Sporting CP striker's possible replacement. The Swede has long been closing in on a move to the Gunners with Mikel Arteta 's side locked in negotiations to sign the 27-year-old. ‌ The north London side were thought to have been nearing an agreement worth £54.8million plus a further £8.6m in add-ons. But the delay of the transfer has been attributed to issues over the structure of the bonuses included in the deal. ‌ However, there was renewed optimism about the saga finally coming to an end after it emerged that the Portuguese champions had earmarked a replacement for the goal-hungry Gyokeres. ‌ Almeria striker Luis Javier Suarez – who previously played for Watford – is said to be the man Sporting have their eye on. While that news may have been a positive update for Arsenal fans, a statement from the Spanish side's sporting director, Joao Goncalves, suggested that Gyokeres' transfer could continue to drag on. Speaking to CNN Portugal, Goncalves said: "Luis has had his best season, he's in the best moment of his career – 31 goals is a number any forward wants to achieve. We haven't had any official contact with Sporting to date. "We haven't received any formal or informal contact, but we have with other clubs, and we're moving forward with negotiations with other clubs. We're managing our timing. He has a €40million (£34.6m) release clause. "To paraphrase Frederico Varandas [Sporting CP president] – we're not asking for the value of the clause, but we're going to defend our interests." ‌ While Gyokeres has opted against joining Sporting for their pre-season tour, the club were back in the swing of things on Monday as they beat Sunderland 1-0 in Portugal. Following the game, Sporting right-back, Ivan Fresneda, offered up an icy response to the media when asked how his team-mates are coping with the saga of their top scorer. ‌ The Spaniard – hinting at the upset it has caused in the camp – coolly told O Jogo: "You won't like the answer, but it's not my responsibility." Outside of the Gunners' chase for Gyokeres, they've enjoyed a fruitful summer, signing Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Noni Madueke. Despite their activity in the transfer market, Arteta revealed he's not yet satisfied with his squad size, admitting the club are still hoping to make more signings. He said: "There's still a long time in the window and we are seeking still. "In terms of numbers, we are short and we have to improve the depth and quality of the squad. We are constantly looking in the market. Until that happens, [we] focus on the players we have – and I'm very pleased with what I have seen in the last 10-15 days."
