Dubai Police recovers jewelry bag worth AED 1.1M mistakenly taken to Bangladesh
The bag belonged to a Dubai-based jeweler who had traveled to a neighboring Gulf country to attend a jewelry exhibition. He was carrying four bags filled with precious items, but upon arrival, discovered that one of them was not his.
He immediately returned to the UAE and filed a report with the General Department of Airport Security. Investigators later found that a Bangladeshi passenger had unintentionally taken the jeweler's bag during airport security screening, mistaking it for his own due to their identical appearance. By then, the passenger had already returned to Bangladesh.
Dubai Police then coordinated with the UAE Embassy in Dhaka to track down the bag and initiate the necessary legal procedures. Through the joint efforts of authorities in both countries, the bag was located and returned safely to its rightful owner.
Dubai Police extended its appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and His Excellency Abdulla Ali Abdulla Al Hamoudi, UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh, and his team for facilitating the recovery and ensuring a smooth handover process.
'I truly don't know how to find the words to express my appreciation. Your remarkable attention to detail and sincere commitment to making people happy are beyond commendable,' the jeweler said, lauding the authorities for their swift response.

Dubai Police celebrated the graduation of 922 male and female students from its annual summer courses programme, themed "Our Summer: Security and Happiness… Innovation and Leadership.' The graduation ceremony was held at Dubai World Trade Centre and attended by Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of Dubai's Community Development Authority; and Engineer Marwan Bin Ghalita, Director-General of Dubai Municipality. Other attendees included senior officers, directors of police departments and parents. Organised in cooperation with the Emirates School Establishment, Knowledge and Human Development Authority, and Dubai Sports Council, the programme was hosted by the International Hemaya Centre and offered a variety of specialised courses aimed at fostering personal development and skills among students. Al Marri praised the students' commitment, highlighting the importance of such programmes in supporting youth during the summer break. He stressed that Dubai Police are committed to nurturing disciplined, aware and responsible generations capable of contributing to society. He also thanked parents for encouraging their children to benefit from educational and development opportunities. Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid commended the success of this year's edition, which saw participation from students of 28 nationalities, noting the role of such initiatives in cultivating diverse skills. Brigadier Khalid Bin Muwaiza, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, emphasised the role of summer programmes in building character, promoting values of courage and responsibility, and encouraging respect for laws. This year's programme included 13 activities such as the Young Investigator Course, Diving, Swimming, Military and Fitness Training, Future Officer Programme, K9 Police Dogs Course, Horse Care Course, 901 Call Centre Training, and a series of awareness lectures and field visits. A total of 1,332 students from 28 nationalities took part in the summer programme across 16 training centres, including government schools and Dubai Police facilities such as the General Department of Criminal Investigation, Mounted Police Station, 901 Call Centre and K9 Security Inspection Department. Al Mamari also highlighted the centre's achievements over the past three years, during which 375,741 students from 175 nationalities benefited from 505 awareness and summer programmes. Sharing 2024 statistics, he said last year's courses attracted 1,136 students from 31 nationalities, with 816 Emirati and 320 expatriate participants trained at 21 centres. He expressed gratitude to all strategic partners involved, including 40 government and semi-government entities, and praised their contributions to the sustainability and success of the seasonal initiatives. The graduation ceremony featured military drills by students and a documentary showcasing their training journey. Israeli forces kill nearly 60 Palestinians waiting for aid trucks in north Gaza
Israeli forces killed nearly 60 Palestinian aid seekers on Wednesday after shelling a crowd waiting for food trucks in the northern Gaza Strip. The Gaza-based Government Media Office condemned the attack, which also left more than 570 people injured, as a "bloody massacre". Hundreds of starving Palestinians had assembled in the Sudaniya area, near the Zikim crossing, where dozens of aid trucks were expected to enter the besieged enclave. Israeli forces then opened fire indiscriminately on the crowd, according to local reports. "This bloody massacre, and previous similar crimes, once again confirm that the occupation is using hunger as a weapon of war, cold-bloodedly targeting civilians seeking a livelihood, in flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian laws," the media office said in a statement. Critical levels of starvation In addition to the killing of Palestinians seeking aid, Israel's blockade and starvation policy in Gaza has led to a rising number of deaths from malnutrition in recent days, according to health officials. At least two children died from malnutrition in the past 24 hours, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported on Wednesday, bringing the total number of starvation-related deaths to 159, including 90 children. The Government Media Office said that 112 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies entered the Gaza Strip on Wednesday. However, most were looted and stolen, which the office attributed to a "security chaos" orchestrated by Israel. "We remind you that the Gaza Strip needs at least 600 trucks of relief and fuel daily to meet the minimum basic needs of its most vital sectors," the office said. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously admitted his country is arming gangs in Gaza, which have been accused by aid groups of stealing humanitarian aid.
