Pensacola man arrested on 5 counts of trafficking fentanyl
Christopher Alonse Cobb, Jr., 20, was arrested April 16 following an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Drug Enforcement Agency High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Drug Task Force, and with funding from Florida's State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication (S.A.F.E.) grant.
The investigation began in October 2024 after agents identified Cobb as a fentanyl distributer within a drug trafficking organization. Between October 2024 and April 2025, FDLE and HIDTA task force members witnessed Cobb selling fentanyl during five controlled drug purchases. Cobb sold nearly a quarter of a pound of fentanyl during the controlled purchases operations, according to FDLE.
FDLE and task force agents conducted two search warrants the day of his arrest and seized a stolen 9mm Glock 23 pistol, a 50-round pistol drum, ammunition and multiple cellphones.
Cobb was booked into the Escambia County Jail and is being held without bond pending first appearance. The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, First Judicial Circuit.
FDLE Pensacola and the DEA HIDTA Drug Task Force are investigating the case. The Florida Highway Patrol assisted in the arrest. The investigation remains active.
The S.A.F.E. grant program designed to combat illegal fentanyl activity through grant-funded reimbursements for pre-approved fentanyl-related investigative operations. It was established by the Florida Legislature in 2023 and has resulted in more than 1,400 arrests and law enforcement seizing more than 400 pounds of fentanyl, more than 480 pounds of cocaine, more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana and more than 470 firearms.

Cape Coral man arrested for possession of child pornography
A Cape Coral man has been arrested after detectives say they found child pornography on his devices. Eduardo Antonio Arango Ruiz, 69, was arrested on Monday, August 17, after an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement led to him. Authorities investigating officer involved shooting in Crestview
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Officers with the Crestview Police Department discovered a suspicious vehicle at a closed business near the 1600 Block of South Ferdon Boulevard on Saturday. According to a news release, just before 2 a.m., officers made contact with the subject, who was determined to be armed with a firearm and making suicidal statements. For nearly 3 hours, officers spoke with the subject, who pointed a fire at an officer. Officials said this led to an officer-involved shooting incident resulting in the subject's death. No officers were injured during the incident, officials confirmed. FDLE opens investigation into officer-involved shooting in Port St. Joe, suspect stable As a departmental procedure, the Crestview Police Department requested the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to conduct an independent investigation of the officer-involved shooting. As this investigation has been referred to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Crestview Police Department will refer any future injuries to them. Ferdon Boulevard (State Road 85) is currently closed in the area of Duggan Avenue and Goodwin Avenue as the scene is being processed. What we know On Friday, Uthmeier announced the arrest of Alexandria Mary Beatrice Tatem. The arrest follows a joint investigation led by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's (FDLE) Office of Executive Investigations and the Elections Crime Unit. TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX LOCAL APP According to the investigation, Tatem, a registered Paid Petition Circulator (PPC), submitted a petition in support of a constitutional amendment initiative titled Adult Personal Use of Marijuana (Amendment 25-01), sponsored by Smart & Safe Florida. Uthmeier said the petition falsely claimed to have been signed by Amy Akins, a Florida voter who passed away on Jan. 10, 2024 — more than a year before the date the petition was allegedly signed. The petition was submitted to the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections. Per state law, PPCs must swear under penalty of perjury that each petition they submit was signed in their presence by the named voter. Tatem allegedly signed the affidavit on the petition affirming it was completed in her presence. During a sworn interview conducted by the FDLE on July 1, Tatem confirmed she signed the affidavit and submitted the petition, even after being shown that the voter listed had died more than a year prior. Detectives said the investigation revealed Tatem had been registered as a PPC with the Florida Department of State's Division of Elections since 2019. She collected and submitted petitions in the Tampa Bay and Sarasota regions. Election officials identified the alleged forged petition due to the voter's death before the date of the alleged signature. What's next The Office of Statewide Prosecution is charging Tatem with one count of perjury by false written declaration, a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.
