Fans were eagerly waiting for Anushka Sharma's comeback on the big screen with Chakda 'Xpress. But after the latest reports of the film being shelved, they were left disheartened. This not only includes the fans but also the stars who worked in the film and saw the hard work Sharma put in for the role. The latest one to react is Renuka Shahane, who plays a pivotal role in the film.
Renuka Shahane on shooting Chakda 'Xpress
In an interview with NDTV, Renuka Shahane, who plays a retired sportsperson in Chakda 'Xpress, told NDTV that she was unaware of the film getting shelved and was very shocked. The actress who shot the film in 2022 called it a 'beautiful, impactful film made with a big heart'.
Renuka stated that she is totally heartbroken with this news, and the primary reason is that everyone has put in a lot of effort. She further added that even Anushka had worked on herself so much for it. 'Whatever scenes I did were so powerful and so impactful, especially for women in sports.'
Renuka Shahane on Anushka Sharma's performance as Jhulan Goswami
While talking about Jhulan Goswami, on whom Chakda 'Xpress was based, Shahane expressed that she is iconic, emphasizing the fact that she came from a poor family and still made it big despite the discrepancy between men's cricket and women's cricket and all other sports. 'Chakda 'Xpress had that core quality of sportsmanship," added the actress.
Renuka also spoke about Anushka Sharma 's performance as Jhulan Goswami and could not stop praising her. Shahane said that she has done a good job of creating that character. 'It's so difficult to do because when icons are there in front of us and you have to perform as them, it is even more challenging."
The actress concluded by saying that she wished there was some way that this beautiful film could be salvaged. Well, we are sure many fans at the moment wish for the same. We can only wait for an official announcement now.

NDTV Exclusive: Adah Sharma On The Kerala Story Bagging Two National Awards, "We Have The Blessings Of The Victims"

New Delhi: The winners of the 71st National Film Awards were announced on Friday. The Kerala Story bagged two Awards, best director for Sudipto Sen and best cinematography for Prasantanu Mohapatra. In an exclusive interview with NDTV's Hardika Gupta, the actress reacted to the big news and said that she feels "blessed." "Sudipto sir, Vipul sir and Prasanthanu sir didn't think of awards or applause while making the film. It was just to tell the stories of those who didn't have a voice. The audience then became our voice and turned this film into the highest-grossing female film of all time," she shared. Adah added, "We have the blessings of the victims, their families and the audience and now two national awards. I feel blessed. Scenes from the movie impacted people so much that even now, when I meet people at events, airports, they have tears in their eyes when discussing the scenes. As an actor, I got to be part of this historic film and play the role of a lifetime." The film, starring Adah Sharma in the lead role, was released in 2023 and sparked widespread debate across the country over its subject matter. Despite facing criticism, The Kerala Story emerged as a box office success. The film focused on the alleged ISIS recruitment of women in India and was at the centre of political discussions upon its release. Sudipto Sen said the film was often misinterpreted due to the political climate, especially around the use of the word "Muslim." He began developing the project in 2012, and his Kerala-based collaborator Ambika JK had been associated with the research since 2010. The film starred Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani and Siddhi Idnani in key roles. The Kerala Story is currently streaming on Zee5.

Bangladeshi Model Arrested In Kolkata, Fake Aadhaar, Ration Cards Recovered

Kolkata: A Bangladeshi woman was arrested this week in Kolkata for residing in India using fake documents. Shanta Paul was working as a crew member of an airline company and was also a small-time model, the police said after arresting her with fake Indian documents on Tuesday. She entered India in 2023 from Bangladesh's Barisal using a valid passport, and then rented a flat in Kolkata through a property dealer. Paul allegedly told the owner she wanted to live separately as her family wasn't happy with her marrying a Muslim man. To sign the rent agreement, she gave fake Indian documents like the Aadhaar card, PAN card, and the voter ID. According to her fake documents, accessed by NDTV, she was born in 1998. She also married Shaik Mohammad Ashraf, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, on June 5, according to her marriage certificate accessed by NDTV. Her marriage was registered in the bordering district of Nadia. "The duo rented an apartment in Park Street and later moved to Golf Green, where they began living together. Shanta reportedly kept Ashraf's passport in her possession. With the help of a local agent, she allegedly forged multiple Indian identity documents, including a ration card, an Aadhaar card, a voter ID, and a PAN card," the news agency PTI quoted a police officer as saying. Paul also allegedly used fake Indian documents to jointly rent properties in Kolkata with Ashraf, who works in the merchant navy, the officer said. She represented Bangladesh in the Indo-Bangla Beauty Pageant in 2016 and went on to become Miss Asia Global in 2019. In the last two years, she acted in Tamil and Bengali films, and even signed an Odia film, the officer said. "Following her success in modelling, she began her acting career before eventually joining a Bangladeshi airline," he added. She is currently in police custody till August 8.

Jury head Sudhir Mishra said Saif's performance displayed 'ease' and freshness. Shah Rukh joked that he "should have got it" in response to the snub during a public event. 21 years later, Shah Rukh Khan's performance in Jawan earned him the National Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Ashutosh Gowariker, the director of Swades and the jury chairman for the feature films category, presented his award. When fans noticed this fortunate coincidence, they were overjoyed and shared their happiness on social media. In an interview with NDTV, Ashutosh later said, 'It's amazing.
