Tennessee baseball pitcher listed on Orleans' 2025 roster
Left-handed pitcher Dylan Loy (4-0) completed his second season at Tennessee in 2025.
The 6-foot, 208-pound sophomore appeared in 33 games, including one start, for the Vols during the 2025 campaign. He recorded 36 strikeouts, two saves and a 3.97 ERA in 34.0 innings.
Loy is listed on Orleans' roster for the 2025 Cape Cod Baseball League season. Former Vol Kyle Serrano is also listed as an assistant coach for the Firebirds.
The Cape Cod Baseball League was founded in 1885 and is a collegiate summer league located on Cape Cod in Massachusetts.
Ten teams compete in the Cape Cod Baseball League, divided into East and West divisions. In 1985, the Cape Cod Baseball League became the first collegiate summer league to use wood bats.
The 2025 season will begin June 14 and is slated to conclude Aug. 3. Orleans' first contest will take place June 14 versus Cotuit. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EDT at Eldredge Park in Orleans, Massachusetts.

Two Tennessee wide receivers ranked top five as breakout candidates in college football
No. 18 Tennessee will kick off its 2025 football season on Aug. 30. Rankings reflect the US LBM Coaches Poll. The Vols will face Syracuse in the Aflac Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia (noon, EDT). Ahead of the season opener, Billy Tucker of ESPN released top 10 rankings for second-year breakout candidates in college football for 2025. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound wide receiver recorded seven receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns, while totaling 32 kick return yards. Matthews totaled a season-high for receiving yards (35) against Kent State. His longest reception in 2024 was 25 yards versus UTEP. Staley appeared in four games at Tennessee in 2024. The 6-foot, 190-pound wide receiver recorded three receptions for 21 yards. He played in games against Kent State, Mississippi State, UTEP and Ohio State, earning a redshirt. Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin (1), Michigan running back Jordan Marshall (2), Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson (3) and Miami wide receiver Joshisa Trader (4) are ranked ahead of Matthews and Staley. DeSean Bishop has 'grown tremendously' in pass protection ahead of 2025 season
Tennessee practiced for a tenth time during fall training camp on Tuesday. Redshirt sophomore DeSean Bishop enters his third season with the Vols in 2025. The 5-foot-10, 208-pound running back appeared in 10 contests during the 2024 campaign. Bishop totaled 455 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns on 74 attempts in 2024. He also recorded one reception for 10 yards in the Vols' season opener against Chattanooga. Following Tuesday's practice, running backs coach De'Rail Sims discussed Bishop's improvement during the offseason. 'I think he's taken a step in terms of leadership, number one,' Sims said. 'He's been a dynamic guy in the room, in terms of holding guys accountable. If somebody is not living up to the standard, he's the first one to get on them, and that's including all factors. 'I think from the pass protection standpoint, he's taken the next step too. From a physicality standpoint, an eye discipline standpoint, he's done a really good job. Running the ball is natural to him, I mean, you're talking about a guy that was highly productive in high school and rushed for a ton of yards, so that came natural. Three College Football Hall of Fame inductees vote Tennessee preseason top 10 in 2025
The 2025 preseason FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was released on Monday. 2025 marks the eighth year Vols Wire is voting in the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll. The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by the Football Writers Association of America and the National Football Foundation. Voters rank the top 16 FBS teams with results released every Sunday during the season. Pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Fame inductees who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by Sports Systems to compile rankings, and the Cody Kellner Points Index, to publish individual votes. Texas enters the 2025 football season ranked No. 1, followed by Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia and Clemson in the top five respectively. The Longhorns and Bulldogs are joined by Alabama (8), LSU (9), South Carolina (13), Ole Miss (15) and Tennessee (16) ranked in the preseason FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll from the SEC. Tennessee received 88 points ahead of Week 1. Five College Football Hall of Fame inductees voted the Vols in the top 16. Former Ohio State running back Keith Byars and former Georgia defensive back Scott Woerner voted Tennessee No. 6. Former Notre Dame defensive lineman Chris Zorich ranked the Vols ninth. Former Stanford running back Toby Gerhart voted Tennessee No. 15 and former Michigan linebacker Mark Messner has the Vols ranked No. 16 to start the 2025 campaign. Barrett Jones also voted Tennessee preseason top 10 at No. 7. He won the Outland Trophy at Alabama in 2011 and was a three-time national champion with the Crimson Tide (2009, 2011-12).
