Warren Zaïre-Emery makes PSG return
The academy product returned to first-team training this week. Zaïre-Emery had been out of action since suffering a sprained ankle during the 4-1 win over VfB Stuttgart at the end of January. However, having made his return to first-team training earlier this week, he could make a return to the pitch as early as Wednesday night.
It had initially been thought that the France international could be a candidate to make the squad to face Lille OSC on Saturday, just four days ahead of the match against Liverpool. However, PSG have released their squad to face Stade Briochin in the Coupe de France quarter-finals and Zaïre-Emery does indeed feature. He could therefore make his return against the minnows and build up his fitness ahead of the match against Liverpool.

Wrexham open door to Liverpool wonderkid move
Liverpool are rarely short of offers for loan moves and it can be difficult to make the right choice. Of course, the player has to want to taken on the opportunity to play elsewhere for a season at a more competitive level, but the club has to make way for the player, giving them regular minutes. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! If those conditions aren't met, then the move isn't right and Liverpool will be disrupting the players' development more than enhancing it. The stars are aligning. Koumas off to Wales? According to TeamTalk, show-stopping club Wrexham - who have been promoted three seasons in a row - are interested in a move for Lewis Koumas, a young teenage winger in Liverpool's academy. In their report, it said: "It is understood that Liverpool winger Lewis Koumas remains a target, especially with Josh Windass facing an extended absence through injury, but ambitious Wrexham are now looking to stiffen their defence." Of course, the report might have considered the young talent for a permanent move, which might well prove to be difficult to complete. But Liverpool are unwilling to sell Koumas in any case. This detail was revealed in The Athletic's deal sheet on Tuesday, when James Pearce wrote: "Koumas, the 19-year-old who has also attracted some permanent interest, is wanted by Sheffield United, Hull City, Wrexham and Preston North End." As such, the Welsh interest certainly feels plausible and potentially, Koumas could join them on loan. The temporary move would solve the Windass injury absence that appears to be a concern and the Reds could trust that the Welshman would be getting substantial minutes for a team in his homeland. All of the parties would subsequently benefit from the deal and this potential agreement appears to have sufficient legs, although we'll have to see if anything actually develops over the next two weeks. Liverpool have a lot on their plate and it might be decided that Koumas could come into the first team if the recruitment team struggle to get another forward across the line before deadline day arrives. For now, uncertainty will prevail but I'd expect to see some movement on his future in due course.

Rodrygo transfer speculation grows as Xabi Alonso makes decision on player
Real Madrid winger Rodrygo found himself relegated to the substitutes' bench as the Spanish team kicked off its La Liga campaign on Tuesday, fuelling fresh doubt about his prospects in Spain. The Brazilian, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, appears to have slipped down the pecking order under new Madrid boss Xabi Alonso. Brahim Diaz got the nod in the 1-0 triumph over Osasuna, as Liverpool legend Alonso decided against playing Rodrygo. Rodrygo has emerged as a potential target for Manchester City should the Blues opt to part ways with Savinho, who has caught the eye of Tottenham. However, that particular deal has hit a stumbling block following reports that City's decision-makers have vetoed any departure for the 21-year-old, barely 12 months after his arrival in England. For Rodrygo, the coming days remain shrouded in uncertainty. City has harboured long-standing admiration for a player who has repeatedly tormented Pep Guardiola's team during Champions League encounters against Madrid, while Arsenal has also been touted as potential suitors. The 24-year-old is believed not to have pushed for an exit from Madrid, with Alonso reinforcing his commitment to retaining the Brazilian following Tuesday's victory. He said: "These are match decisions. "The way the match was going, we needed another profile. "There have been no decisions for the future. "Nothing is going on. The Club World Cup was a different context because of the competition it was. "Today it's just one game, we can leave the rest behind. "What counts is this season and of course I'm counting on Rodrygo. It's just one game, we shouldn't read too far into the future. "If he gets those minutes in three months' time, I'll be able to answer you with more certainty. "Today it was just the circumstances of the game and my decisions."

Alexander Isak ignored $101M Liverpool transfer lesson as star breaks silence
Anthony Gordon was called upon to fill the void in Newcastle's first match of the new season - a space left by the unsettled striker Alexander Isak, and he did so with complete dedication to the club. Meanwhile, Isak continues to train solo and is no closer to rejoining Newcastle's squad as he seeks to engineer a move to Liverpool. A year ago, Liverpool was pursuing Gordon - and the winger, understandably intrigued by the prospect of joining his boyhood club, became sidetracked by the saga. However, the England international never caused any trouble - he continued to train and was prepared to play for the club that pays his wages - a stark contrast to Isak. READ MORE: Alexander Isak finally breaks silence on Newcastle fallout as Liverpool transfer hangs in the balance READ MORE: Alexander Isak could use little-known FIFA rule to force Newcastle transfer exit The Swedish striker took to social media on Tuesday to publicly express his wish to leave, while also accusing the club of "broken promises." Much like with Isak, it's not the desire to move to Liverpool that irks Newcastle's fans, but rather the manner in which an exit - or the desire for one - is handled, particularly if a player goes on strike. Gordon remained loyal to Newcastle throughout last summer and is now leading the line in a position where he may not be at his best, but is giving everything for the Magpies. Speaking on The Everything is Black and White Podcast, host Andrew Musgrove believes Isak could have learned from Gordon's handling of a summer filled with speculation, which reportedly culminated in a £75 million ($101.2 million) bid being considered. "The point on Anthony Gordon is that he's the prime example that Alexander Isak should have followed when it comes to a speculative summer - you know, will he or won't he be a Newcastle United player?" said Musgrove. "That was what we had to deal with last summer. Of course, Gordon would have been interested in a move to Liverpool. "Not only can you win things, he's from the area, and reportedly a boyhood fan. "Yes, he was distracted and yes, he took a little while to get back to his best, but he never downed tools. "Who is to say the interest was as far along as it is with Alexander Isak, but the point being is he could have forced something, but he didn't, and look at him now. "He's the shining example of how to be the ultimate professional. "The bottom line is that while he's got that shirt on his heart, he's giving his all, and that's more than can be said for Alexander Isak."
