Gabriel calls for killer instinct as Richards Bay brace for Chiefs test
Richards Bay coach Ronnie Gabriel has urged his side to sharpen up in front of goal as they prepare for a daunting Betway Premiership clash against in-form Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium next Tuesday.
The Natal Rich Boyz have endured a stuttering start to the campaign, losing their opening two fixtures against Marumo Gallants and Golden Arrows. While performances have shown promise, Gabriel is concerned by his team's inability to turn dominance into points.
Speaking after their narrow defeat to Abafana Bes'thende, the co-coach lamented wasted opportunities.
'We have to be more ruthless in attack when we have our opponents against the wall, because just look at how the match ended,' Gabriel said.
'In terms of the synergy in the team, we feel the telepathy between some of the players, and we can see that we are playing a good brand of football, we just need to start punishing the opposition.'

Analyst sends a warning to Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs supporters are smiling again. Two wins from two, first a 2-0 win over Stellenbosch, then a 1-0 grind past Polokwane City. The results duly awakened the Amakhosi swagger back to Naturena. But while the vibe is good, former Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United skipper Bongani Khumalo has sent out a reality check. Speaking on SuperSportTV's ExtraTime , Khumalo admitted Kaizer Chiefs are showing signs of a team that can compete, but warned that the foundations are still fragile. Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Second striker and new winger 'It is very good (Kaizer Chiefs' recent form), but it is important for the players to keep their feet on the ground,' Khumalo said. So as much as there is joy and there is ease in how they have started, there is still a lot of work to be done. The performance against Stellenbosch was not a great performance, but it was a wonderful result. Confirmed: Kaizer Chiefs will sign another striker 'This time [against Polokwane City], the first half was not great, the second half was a lot better. 'So there are signs that something is brewing, so it is important that they remain calm and most importantly, stick together and see it through,' the former Bafana star added. Next is Richards Bay's visit to the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night. The Natal Rich Boyz are still looking for their first point after losing 2-1 and 1-0 to Marumo Gallants and Golden Arrows, respectively. Hunt vs Mngqithi: Durban rivalry ignites as Arrows host flying Durban City
Gavin Hunt's experience will be key as Durban City look to establish themselves in the Premiership. Photo: Backpagepix The Betway Premiership spotlight turns to Chatsworth this Tuesday as Golden Arrows host newly promoted Durban City in a clash that promises intensity, drama, and tactical intrigue. Central to the storyline is the renewed rivalry between two of South Africa's most respected coaches: Gavin Hunt and Manqoba Mngqithi. Hunt, in his first season with Durban City, has hit the ground running. The veteran tactician has guided the newcomers to back-to-back wins to open their campaign, signaling that the club is no longer content with merely surviving in the top flight. Hunt's structured approach and tactical acumen have been instrumental in giving Durban City an immediate competitive edge. Across the pitch, Mngqithi's Golden Arrows have experienced mixed fortunes. After a disappointing loss to Siwelele FC, Arrows bounced back with a tough win over fellow KZN side Richards Bay last Tuesday.

COMMENT: The Ghost of Riveiro,Ouaddou's toughest opponent at Orlando Pirates
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has had a tough start to his tenure as Bucs coach. Photo: Itumeleng English Independent Media Orlando Pirates have stumbled out of the gates under new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, losing their first two Betway Premiership fixtures before holding champions Mamelodi Sundowns to a draw in Saturday's MTN8 semi-final first leg. It is hardly the dream start many Buccaneers fans had hoped for. But the real opponent confronting the Moroccan tactician isn't Sundowns' dominance, nor the unpredictable rhythms of a Soweto rivalry. It is the shadow of José Riveiro, the Spaniard whose success still looms large at Orlando Stadium. In two and a half years, Riveiro brought a sense of stability, two MTN8 titles, back-to-back Nedbank Cups and, crucially, restored belief that Pirates could win again. More than trophies, he gave them an identity, with a possession-based style and sharp attacking transitions that reignited the 'Happy People.' That is the standard Ouaddou must now match — and quickly. Every result so far has already been filtered through the prism of Riveiro. Back-to-back league defeats triggered the familiar murmur: 'This wouldn't have happened under José.'
