Diagnosed narcissist reveals how to tell for sure that you aren't one
A diagnosed narcissist with his own social media account has revealed the 'real reason' you can tell that you aren't one.
Jacob Skidmore has shared with his 300,000 followers what it is like to live with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).
NPD is a mental health condition that gives an increased sense of self-importance, a deep need for admiration, and a lack of empathy for others.
Skidmore, who is known as The Nameless Narcissist online, says he didn't tell people about his diagnosis for years.
"Whenever I attempt to be vulnerable with my friends, it's like the shame catches the words in my throat and I psychically can't say it," he told LADBible.
In a video uploaded to his TikTok page, Jacob said: "A lot of people will be like, 'Oh, I have those thoughts too sometimes. Does that mean I'm a narcissist?' And the answer is probably no, and it's not because necessarily that, 'Oh, if somebody considers they're a narcissist, that means that they're not a narcissist'.
"I mean, obviously I've considered it, been considering it for a while, been diagnosed with it."
The 'real reason why you probably aren't a narcissist' he says is because these thoughts have to apply 'to literally everything in your life'.
"Not just 'Oh, man, I got a promotion at work, so I'm feeling a little grandiose and thinking a little narcissistically'," Jacob added.
"No, it's, 'Oh, I took in the groceries today better than anybody who's ever existed'."
Jacob said that narcissistic thoughts must be pervasive and ego-based, meaning there's no self-judgment involved.
True narcissists don't feel the need to hide their thoughts or feel guilty about them, as they believe their behaviour is justified, he says.
Jacob continued: "Like me, for example. I know that these thoughts are abnormal, but I don't have any cognitive dissonance regarding them. I'm not like, 'Oh, man, I can't believe I thought this narcissistic thought today'. No, I'm thinking, 'Everybody should think like this'."
He added: "A genuine narcissist thinks it's okay and justified to be a narcissist."

The content creator, who is better known online as The Nameless Narcissist, previously shared a clip with his hundreds of thousands of followers explaining there are three main signs which can indicate you don't have NPD.
Jacob explained that he'd never met a narcissist who didn't 'do these things', but pointed out this is just his opinion.
First, he explained that feeling 'genuine' emotions is a sign someone isn't a narcissist, as he finds himself 'faking' his, saying: "Narcissists don't have those normal emotional reactions, we have to emulate them half the time."
Next is whether or not you believe every person on the planet has equal worth - as in his eyes, it's 'inconceivable that two people can have it inherently the same amount of worth.'
Jacob said: "For me, there's always gonna be a better person and a person below."
Lastly, if you love yourself, the diagnosed narcissist reckons you definitely haven't got NPD.
"A lot of people think narcissists love themselves," Jacob said of the common perception around NPD. "No, we think we're better than everybody else.
"We might love how we look. We might love our intelligence. But my internal monologue is a constant stream of 'You're so stupid. Why did you do that? You're better than all these other people. How could you be so stupid?'
'There is no self love. There is no self compassion there. It's just grandiosity."

Golden retriever demands owners check on baby and what they find leaves them in tears
A mum has shared her dog's heartwarming reaction after she brought her baby son home - and says her household has never been the same since her little one's arrival An adorable dog has stolen hearts after stepping up into a parental role after the birth of his human baby brother. Golden retriever Winston has been taking his duties seriously - and even keeps his owners Roissy and Alexander Koeneke in check. The 29-year-old mum, from San Diego, Califonia, has taken to social media to share a clip of her one-year-old dog in action, sharing how he keeps an eye on her baby. In a clip, Winston is seen standing starring at his owner from the hallway prompting her to follow him to the baby's bedroom. He refuses to move a muscle until she stands up and makes her way over. Following this, the pooch is seen checking on the three-month-old, making sure he's happy, healthy and all of his needs have been tended to. In her TikTok caption, Riossy, who is known as @ online, wrote: "We needs a nanny when you have a golden". Alongside this, she wrote in the video: "My dog will keep staring at my husband and I until either of us checks on our baby. And he will follow to make sure we actually stop making him cry." Speaking to Newsweek, she said: "He has such good hearing so he hears the baby before us, and that's when we know sometimes that a cry is about to come. Then he gives us such a sassy side eye when we don't stand up immediately! She says Winston was "full of excitement" when his baby brother came into the world - and is always nearby in case he needs anything. Dedicated to the job, she says the pooch even wakes up for midnight feeds and nappy changes. She added: "One time, we saw he left this toy in his water bowl, and he's never done this before, but he was probably just super-tired for choosing to wake up with the baby each time. "One of the sweetest things he does is try to soothe the baby with his paw. We're always careful when it happens." Commenting on her video, one user said: "Our dog howls if the baby is crying and he comes to get me (mum) if someone else is taking too long to soothe the baby." Another user added: "My girl was like this. Now my son, 5, is confused why she doesn't listen to him like she does me. "She will literally look at me so confused when he tries to do her training. She helped me raise you! "You literally learned to crawl to get to her and now you're boss? I'd be confused too. Went by so fast." A third user said: "He is so ashamed. He has taught y'all better than this. The disappointment is adorable." One more user added: "OMG, that's so adorable. Well done Winston. That's what you call protective. Bless him."

Posting on social media, the mum-to-be gave her followers a close-up look at her new buys, which she ordered online after trying to 'look for a bit of a bargain.' Opening up on the ordeal, she said: 'I can't believe this happened to me - so I'm not gonna call the brand out because I did manage to get a refund and I'm just not one of those people, I actually don't wanna tarnish a brand, but what they [did] was wrong on so many levels. 'So picture this - here I am, innocent pregnant woman having a scroll, just trying to find some nice clothes for my holiday that don't make me look like a sack of c**p.' Georgia then modelled her new cropped blouse, which she described as the 'least offensive' of the bunch. She acknowledged: 'Now this is not the worst, but it literally feels like tracing paper or like it was made from an old Rizla packet. 'I'm not being funny, it looks nothing like that [the online listing].' Following this, Georgia tried on a blue, striped mini dress and was left crossing her legs to cover herself, as she continued: 'That is a joke. I look like something off of Peter Pan. 'If anyone wants it, feel free to send over your address - you're welcome to it.' After this, the reality star showed off the 'most expensive' and 'worst item' of her haul, as she revealed: 'I was considering wearing this for my baby shower - most expensive, most offensive by far.' American moves to the UK and learns new meaning of words 'quite good'
A woman from California who moved to London has shared some of the biggest culture shocks she experienced about life in the UK, including what people actually mean when they say certain phrases The UK is home to people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds and it also attracts expats. Moving to a new country is likely to bring some culture shocks that might take time to get used to, from the food to the social norms to the customs. Andrea Celeste is an American woman who now lives in London and uses her TikTok page to share differences she has noticed and personally experienced herself between the US and the UK. Although the US and UK are known to have a 'special relationship', there are some major ways that the two countries differ. In a recent TikTok video, Andrea shared her biggest culture shocks as someone from California living in England – including what people really mean when they say 'quite good'. So here's what she had to say... 1. 'British understatement' Andrea said one adjustment when she moved to the UK was learning to interpret what she calls 'British understatement.' She explained: 'If something is described as 'quite good' it usually means it's amazing. If someone says they're 'a bit concerned', they may actually be panicking.' In contrast, the Californian thinks people in the US are more direct and will simply just say what they mean unless they're being sarcastic. 2. Friendships are formed in different ways Andrea stated: 'One of the biggest culture shocks I experienced as a Californian living in England was the difference in how friendships are built. 'In California people are incredibly kind and open-hearted so friendships often form quickly and feel instantly warm but sometimes they end up staying a bit surface level.' However, she has noticed that people in England can keep to themselves a bit more at first so it ends up being 'a bit more of a slow burn to a deep and meaningful friendship". 3. Differences in talking about your achievements The expat shared that it isn't uncommon for Americans to be openly proud about their achievements, which is shown by the 'American dream mindset' or celebrating graduations with graduation photos and having your degree framed. On the flip side, Andrea has observed that people in England 'can be very talented but don't really promote it". What's more, being open about your accomplishments isn't as common in the UK as in the US. She remarked: 'I sometimes find it refreshing but I think there is probably a happy medium.' In the caption of her TikTok video, Andrea joked she was "learning to decode the British language (even though it's also English).' The post has amassed dozens of comments and several viewers agreed with Andrea's points. One said: 'I really appreciate how great your insight is!' Another added: 'Agree 10000% with all of this!!! As a kiwi living in the US! Exactly how I felt.' A third user simply commented: 'You nailed this.' However, there was also a bit of disagreement as a British viewer chimed in: 'I'm not sure that it's understatement, I think we're just a lot less dramatic than the average American.'
