Which of the Indianapolis Colts players is considered their top contract extension candidate?
Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports recently made his extension candidate for each NFL team. When it came to the Colts, he selected left tackle Bernhard Raimann.
"Raimann has started all 29 of his games played over the last two seasons and has done so at a high level," wrote Sullivan. "Last year, Raimann ranked as the eighth-highest graded offensive tackle in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus' metrics. So long as he continues that play in 2025, there's no questioning that Raimann will land a sizable deal."
Raimann is entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2025 and will be a free agent in 2026. He is eligible to receive an extension at any time between now and when free agency opens next March.
For some context around what the current tackle market looks like, Tristan Wirfs will enter the 2025 season earning $28.12 million per year--the highest mark for anyone at this position. Lane Johnson is fifth, earning $25 million per year. Dan Moore is 10th at $20.5 million per season, and Mike Onwenu is 17th at $19 million per season, according to Sportrac.
Following a breakout year in 2023, Raimann built upon that performance in 2024. Out of 83 eligible tackles last season, Raimann ranked 24th in pass-blocking efficiency.
In the run game, along with ranking 12th in PFF's run-blocking grade, running back Jonathan Taylor averaged nearly 5.0 yards per rush when running between Raimann and left guard Quenton Nelson.
'The progress that Berny has made from year one to now, it's been pretty incredible,' GM Chris Ballard said at the NFL Combine.
This feels like one of those situations that the longer the Colts wait, the larger Raimann's next contract will be as he continues to get better and better.

Saquon Barkley's retirement admission will concern Eagles fans

The post Saquon Barkley's retirement admission will concern Eagles fans appeared first on ClutchPoints. All NFL players think about retirement. It comes whenever the players feel like they can't give their all anymore to the game. Retirement also comes up due to injury, and we saw that Derek Carr called it quits most recently due to an injured shoulder. Advertisement You have players like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning who always had that question hovering over them as their careers waned, or you have Larry Fitzgerald, who backed out quietly. Still, the most notable shock retirement was Barry Sanders, who decided on a whim that he was done playing football. Sanders' retirement came up once again after star Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley said that he admired how he did it and would like to emulate that when he decides to retire. Appearing on the podcast, Green Light with Chris Long, Barkley said, 'My favorite player of all time is Barry Sanders. Probably something similar to that. I'll be balling and be like, 'Yeah,' and call it quits.' This is a bit concerning for fans because Barkley is currently the best running back in the NFL and was in the MVP conversation for most of last season. He ended the 2024 campaign with 2,005 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns on 345 carries. Barkley had a career season in his first season with his new team. Barkley was drafted second overall in the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Giants and was instantly an electric playmaker in the NFL. He carried the Giants when needed, but because he had such a high workload, he dealt with many injuries near the end of his tenure in New York. Advertisement The Eagles have much more on offense for every team to account for on defense, with Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown being one of the best quarterback-to-wide receiver duos in the NFL. That allows Barkley to have much less pressure on him, and it led to his best season he's ever had, and it led to a Super Bowl ring. If his 2024 is any indication, Barkley still has plenty left in the tank in his NFL career. However, his comments on wanting to retire are concerning because it might happen out of the blue for fans. Still, with his career rejuvenated, Eagles fans should enjoy him while they have him. Jason Kelce gives inside look at Tush Push owners meeting debate

The post Jason Kelce gives inside look at Tush Push owners meeting debate appeared first on ClutchPoints. After months of questions, debate, and anticipation, the Philadelphia Eagles' signature play, the Tush Push, has officially remains legal for the 2025 NFL season. Advertisement Surely this is a massive win for fans in the Delaware Valley and will strike fear in the hearts of the reigning and defending Super Bowl Champions' 2025 opponents, but how did the decision come down? Well, on his New Heights podcast, Jason Kelce broke it down, as he was part of the Eagles' presentation to keep the play legal. 'The reality is this was a rule for a long time in the NFL that you can't assist the runner. Both the competition committee and Dr. Allan Sills suggested that the proposal pass and the play be banned. One for health reasons and another for competitive fairness reasons,' Jason Kelce explained. 'I took away from this meeting that all the owners have good intentions, and not just from this proposal, but all the proposals. You know, there was multiple things discussed throughout the meeting, and it was really cool to witness how this process takes place. The owners back and forth over the proposals, things that passed, things that got tabled, things that didn't pass. At the end of the day, it was just awesome to witness and to see how serious each one of these owners take each one of these decisions.' Asked by his brother, Travis Kelce, about what happened behind closed doors, Jason wasn't willing to spill the Tush Push beans, noting instead that it was a very good experience. Advertisement 'I don't really want to touch too much on it because again, I don't know what's privy to share and like, listen, Mom told us not to kiss and tell, right?' Kelce noted. 'So you know there's some things that in the Eagles locker room, and as a player you find out what's good to share, and in this world, I don't know. I just wanted to go there and offer my perspective on the play and dispel some of the rumors that have been said.' Will the NFL try to ban the Tush Push once more? Yes, it most likely will, but now that Kelce has experience with their thought process, he and the Eagles will come correct in keeping their signature play legal into the future.
