UK Royal Ballet and Opera cancels Tel Aviv ‘Tosca' after protest

The United Kingdom's Royal Ballet and Opera has cancelled its planned 2026 production of 'Tosca' at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, following internal protest over the organization's stance on Gaza, The Guardian reported on Monday. The decision follows an open letter signed by 182 staff members, including dancers and musicians, criticizing the company's ties to Israel amid the ongoing conflict. The staff demanded that the organization refrain from supporting institutions that legitimize a state engaged in 'crimes against humanity.' The letter does not mention the mass atrocities committed by Hamas against civilians in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, including the murder of 1,200 people and the kidnapping of 251 others. Nor does it reference the hostages still being held in dire conditions by terrorists in the Strip. The Israeli Opera's website no longer mentions the Royal Opera House, which is the main theatrical home of the Royal Ballet and Opera, located in the Covent Garden district of central London. The signatories accused the Jewish state of committing an ongoing genocide in Gaza—a charge that Jerusalem vehemently denies. I've worked at Costco for 20 years. Here are 8 of the best things I'm seeing on shelves right now.

I've worked at Costco for 20 years and love searching the aisles for new items each month. This month, Costco is getting a head start on fall with Halloween costumes and cute accent rugs. I'm excited to try the Bakery Street Dubai-style chocolate cakes. I've been a Costco employee for 20 years and am always looking for interesting new items to add to my cart. This August, the warehouse is stocking its shelves with fall-ready finds, yummy treats, and beauty essentials. Here are eight of the best things I'm seeing at Costco this month. Tame stubborn flyaways with the Nexxus Slick Stick. Summer is in full swing, which means frizzy hair and flyaways can be an issue. This month, Costco is carrying two-packs of the Nexxus Slick Stick — a hair wax that claims to target flyaways and frizz without stickiness or residue. The packaging says it provides 72-hour humidity protection and 48-hour frizz control, which is perfect for creating smooth and polished looks. I love that the sticks are compact, so they'd fit nicely into a purse. Get a head start on Halloween prep with Marvel costumes. It may only be August, but Costco is making it easy to get a head start on finding the perfect Halloween costume. At my store, I saw a variety of Marvel Spider-Verse options for characters like Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Spider-Gwen. Enjoy your favorite coffee at home with the Starbucks by Nespresso capsules. If you're looking to get your morning coffee fix without leaving the house, I recommend checking out the Starbucks by Nespresso capsules. Each box contains 68 pods in varieties like espresso roast, Pike Place, Café Verona, and blonde double espresso. However, it's important to note that the capsules can only be used in Nespresso Vertuo machines. The Bakery Street Dubai-style chocolate cakes look delicious. The Dubai chocolate trend isn't showing any signs of slowing down, and this month, I spotted mini cakes from Bakery Street that are inspired by the craze. Each package comes with four mini treats layered with dark chocolate cake, pistachio cream, crispy kataifi, milk chocolate ganache, and pistachio pieces. These festive accent rugs are the perfect way to prepare for fall. The Staheekum women's slip-on shoes are perfect for indoor or outdoor use. The Staheekum women's clogs are perfect for lounging around the house or attending casual gatherings. I love that these suede slip-ons have comfortable padding and a stylish buckle accent. The Apple AirPods Pro 2 bundle caught my eye. The Pure Protein snack pack makes getting your protein in more fun. The Pure Protein snack pack — which includes cheese crackers and two varieties of popped chips — caught my eye. These satisfying grab‑and‑go options include at least 10 grams of protein per serving and are each 150 calories or less.

Comedian Andrew Schulz rips Trump for IVF campaign pledge ‘flip-flop'

Comedian Andrew Schulz slammed President Donald Trump for not following through on his campaign pledge to provide universal coverage for IVF fertility treatments in a social media post on Sunday. In his Instagram stories, Schulz reposted a Washington Post report headlined, 'Trump promised to mandate IVF care. The White House says there's no plans to do so.' Alongside the headline, Schulz wrote, 'You don't break your word. Your word breaks you.' The comedian and podcaster famously interviewed Trump and voted for him in the November election, but has been increasingly critical in recent weeks over what he perceives as broken promises from the president. In his social media post, he blasted Trump for flip-flopping 'once again' and directed his followers to a charity that helps pay for IVF services. 'For anyone that is looking for financial assistance with IVF (especially now that @realdonaldtrump flip-flopped once again on a campaign promise), please look into @babyquestgrants. It's a wonderful charity that we are working with that specifically provides financial aid for fertility treatments,' Schulz's post read. Roughly one year ago, Trump pledged that he would mandate free in vitro fertilization treatment for women if he won a second term. 4 Comedian Andrew Schulz slammed Donald Trump for not following through on his campaign pledge to provide universal coverage for IVF fertility treatments in a social media post. Getty Images for Netflix 'I'm announcing today in a major statement that under the Trump administration, your government will pay for — or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for — all costs associated with IVF treatment,' Trump told supporters during a campaign rally in Michigan last August. 'Because we want more babies, to put it nicely.' In February, Trump signed an executive order expanding access to IVF and other fertility treatments through the reduction of out-of-pocket costs. The order directed the Domestic Policy Council to find ways to make IVF and other fertility treatments more affordable. 4 Roughly one year ago, Trump pledged that he would mandate free in vitro fertilization treatment for women if he won a second term. Suzi Media – The White House did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. However, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told the Washington Post in response to its report that the president's work to expand IVF access was ongoing. 'President Trump pledged to expand access to fertility treatments for Americans who are struggling to start families,' Jackson said in a statement. 'The Administration is committed like none before to using its authorities to deliver on this pledge.' This is not the first time Schulz has taken aim at Trump. On a July 10 episode of his 'Flagrant' podcast, Schulz complained about Trump, 'Everything he campaigned on, I believe he wanted to do, and now he's doing the exact opposite thing of every single f—ing thing.' 4 In his social media post, he blasted Trump for flip-flopping 'once again' and directed his followers to a charity that helps pay for IVF services. Xavier Collin/Image Press Agency / Schulz specifically called out the president over increasing the national debt, funding foreign wars, and the recent announcement that there was no Jeffrey Epstein 'client list.' 'There'll be people, they'll DM and say, 'You see what your boy's doing? You voted for this.' I'm like, 'I voted for none of this!' He's doing the exact opposite of everything I've voted for!' he said at the time.
