NEW DELHI: In Alwar's Kherli town, a nine-year-old boy witnessed his father's murder, allegedly orchestrated by his mother's lover along with four others, according to police reports on Wednesday.
The child was present during the incident and told the police that his mother remained silent throughout the ordeal.
The event occurred on June 7 night, when Veeru Jatav, a tent business owner, was allegedly killed by Kashiram Prajapat, a street vendor who was involved with Veeru's wife Anita. The murder was carried out with the help of hired accomplices.
"In his statement, the child said that he woke up to the sound of the cot shaking.
He saw Kashiram pressing his father's face with a pillow while his mother Anita stood nearby watching. When the boy tried to intervene, Kashiram picked him up and threatened him to keep quiet," stated Kherli SHO Dhirendra Singh.
The boy related that his father returned home late and requested him to charge his mobile phone before retiring, whilst his mother told him to sleep early. The child later heard sounds and allegedly observed his mother allowing Kashiram and four others into their house.

"I saw pappa being attacked. Mummy didn't say anything. I tried to go to pappa, but Kashiram uncle picked me up and scolded me. Then pappa stopped moving. Mummy is very bad. She got pappa killed," the child told reporters.
Both divorcees, Anita and Veeru had married for love. Anita operated a general store where she became acquainted with Kashiram, who sold snacks nearby. Their relationship developed over time, leading them to allegedly scheme Veeru's murder.
"The plan was executed in a premeditated manner. Kashiram paid Rs 2 lakh to hire four men. Anita opened the door for them on the night of the murder. She remained a silent spectator as her husband was smothered to death," DSP Kailash Chand stated.
Subsequently, Anita contacted her sister-in-law, claiming Veeru had suddenly fallen ill. However, Veeru's elder brother, Gabbar, doubted the 'silent attack' explanation.
A post-mortem examination later confirmed death by strangulation.
"CCTV footage was scanned during the investigation, and the child's detailed statement confirmed the sequence of events," added SHO Singh. Authorities have arrested Anita and placed her in police custody. Three suspects - Vishnu, Naveen, and Chetan - remain at large, with ongoing efforts to apprehend them.

Forest dept dismantles Jenu Kuruba tents in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve
Mysuru: Weeks after more than four dozen Jenu Kuruba families entered Nagarahole Tiger Reserve and set up temporary tents, claiming land rights, the state forest department on Wednesday dismantled six temporary tents erected at Attur Kolli Haadi inside Nagarahole forest. The operation was carried out under tight security after the indigenous dwellers' claims over the forest area were rejected by the sub-division level forest rights committee (SDLC) in Madikeri on May 22. The claimants were given an opportunity to appeal the SDLC decision at the district-level committee within 60 days. Meanwhile, the Jenu Kuruba families alleged the operation was inhumane. "These six sheds were constructed only after taking permission at the gram sabha on May 20. The gram sabha was organised under the Forest Rights Act. Now, the forest department has violated the provisions of the act," they charged. According to the forest department, the Jenu Kuruba families had illegally entered and occupied an area of the Attur-Kolli forest within the Nagarahole Wildlife Range on May 5 and had been residing there since then. Six sheds were illegally constructed on June 17 by clearing the vegetation and chopping off around 42 small-sized trees, officials said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo A notice was issued to the tribal community heads the same day to clear out the six new tents, and they were given another opportunity on Wednesday to voluntarily remove the structures. Two sitting Rajasthan MLAs sentenced to 1-year jail in 2014 road blocking case
Two Congress legislators from Rajasthan are among nine who were sentenced to a year in jail Wednesday for blocking a major road during a protest in 2014. All nine, including Shahpura MLA Manish Yadav and Ladnun MLA Mukesh Bhakar, were found guilty under sections 147 (punishment for rioting) and 283 (causing danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation). The court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Jaipur also imposed a fine of Rs 3,200 on the convicts, which includes Congress leader Abhishek Chaudhary, who unsuccessfully contested the 2023 Rajasthan assembly polls from Jhotwara. Although they have been convicted, Yadav and Bhakar will not face disqualification from the Rajasthan assembly since the jail terms are under the two years mandated under The Representation of the People Act, 1951. The convicts were part of an August 2014 protest at Rajasthan University. According to court documents, the protesters from the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) blocked the Jawaharlal Nehru Marg outside the main gate of Rajasthan University for 20 minutes, prompting the police to book them. Police filed a chargesheet in the case on August 11, 2016. Yadav was then part of the ABVP but he eventually joined the Congress and won the 2023 assembly polls. The others convicted in the case have been identified as Rajesh Meena, Ravi Kirad, Wasim Khan, Dron Yadav, Bhanu Pratap Singh and Vidyadhar Meel. Since the offence is bailable, all convicts have been released on bail immediately after the sentencing.
