Maisie Smith and The Crown's Ed McVey to star in The Talented Mr Ripley UK tour
McVey, 25, who portrayed a young Prince William in Netflix drama The Crown, will play the mysterious protagonist Tom Ripley, who is offered an opportunity to travel to Italy.
Former EastEnders actress Smith, 24, will star as Marge Sherwood, the girlfriend of Dickie Greenleaf, who draws Tom into a world of glittering privilege.
Highsmith, whose novel is celebrating its 70th anniversary, went on to write Ripley Under Ground, Ripley's Game, The Boy Who Followed Ripley, and lastly in 1991 Ripley Under Water.
The book series has spawned several adaptions including 2005's Ripley Under Ground, starring Barry Pepper, Alan Cumming and Willem Dafoe.
More recently the psychological thriller was turned into a mini-series starring Irish actor Andrew Scott in the role of con artist Tom.
The stage adaptation will open on September 4 at Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre and will have an official opening night on September 10.
After its initial dates in Cheltenham, the show will travel to Edinburgh, Birmingham, Woking, Oxford, Brighton, Bristol, Richmond and Salford.
Smith and McVey will be in the starring roles until the end of 2025. Touring dates for 2026 are yet to be announced.

When the Times asked whether she preferred a novel or Netflix, she confessed that it all hinges on the season. She elaborated: "I have the biggest pile of books I'm taking on holiday, and I'm even more excited about reading them than I am about seeing long-lost friends. Tyson Fury names two fighters he will never face after announcing comeback
Fury has announced his stunning return to boxing earlier this month - but ahead of his return fight next year - he has already ruled out two names Tyson Fury has ruled out a showdown with Agit Kabayel and Joseph Parker as he gears up for his return to boxing. The 36-year-old heavyweight, who had previously hung up his gloves in January after two losses to Oleksandr Usyk, has been teasing fans about a comeback. Earlier this month, Fury confirmed that he's lacing up the gloves once more, aiming for a ring return next year. Despite the Morecambe fighter's eagerness to get back into action, he has made it clear that he won't be fighting this year. Speaking at BoxFest on Saturday, before Usyk's clash with Daniel Dubois, Fury shared: "For sure. I am open to offers at the moment. I am not going to do any comebacks this year. That is a fact. I have been busy. As you can see, I have got Netflix here. I am filming 'At Home With The Furys! Season 2." He added: "And next year, the big 'G K' is going to make a f****** comeback. The takeover! I am going to be 37 in about three weeks so I am going to be the oldest swinger in town. With all these young boys coming up, it is going to be difficult, but I believe I can put on some very good nights still." Despite being open to challenges, Fury has explicitly stated he will NOT step into the ring with either Kabayel or Parker, reports All Out Fighting. The two-time heavyweight champion, who has previously trained with both Agit Kabayel and Joseph Parker, holds them in high regard. "They are my two brothers," Fury said. "They are both lovely guys and they are both future world heavyweight champions. Agit Kabayel and Joseph Parker... he has been a champion before so he knows what it is about. I wish them all the very best in the world and I won't fight either man for any amount of money because some things ain't worth fighting for." Fury has identified Usyk and Anthony Joshua as two potential opponents. The 'Gypsy King; retired after suffering back-to-back defeats to the Ukrainian and has been tipped to fight Joshua for quite some time, but a fight has never materialised. On wanting the two aforementioned names, the 36-year-old replied: "Listen, I want a few fights. All of these guys that you talk about can all have it. "The 'AJ' fight has been simmering for about forty five f****** years and it still has not happened. The Usyk fight. I have already fought that f***** twice and last time, I easily thought I won it. Did not get it. Did not cry about it. Who gives a s***? It is what it is. We are still here. We are still talking b*******. That is a fight I would definitely like to do here at Wembley and I hope I get what I want this time. The Joshua fight is there and even Dubois if he loses to Usyk." The British heavyweight has firmly ruled out a clash with Parker, but the New Zealander might just throw a spanner in Fury's works. The WBO could force Usyk to defend his titles against the Kiwi sensation next, potentially derailing plans for a Fury-Usyk showdown. At the post-fight press conference on Saturday night, boxing promoter Frank Warren was quizzed about his preferred next opponent for Usyk and he disclosed: "His [Usyk's] first defence of his title is the WBO belt and that will be against Joe Parker. So that again would be a great fight. "I mean I would like to see the Joe Parker fight. Joe deserves it. He's on a run himself, same as Daniel was on, and that's the fight that's been ordered. So one way or another it will happen, or Joe will fight for the vacant title. Tyson has made it very clear to me; he'd love that [Usyk] fight, he would love to do that fight and it'd be a big fight." When is Tyson Fury's next fight? Following the announcement of his return to the ring, British boxing sensation Fury revealed that his third bout with Usyk is set for 18 April 2026 at Wembley Stadium. EastEnders legend makes a shock return just days after quitting Walford – and he's not alone
AN EASTENDERS legend made a shock return to the soap today - just days after quitting Walford. Nigel Bates - who is played by actor Paul Bradley in the BBC soap - said an emotional farewell to Albert Square last week after being reunited with estranged wife Julie. 2 2 Viewers know Nigel is suffering from dementia and left Julie rather than let her see his decline. He returned to Walford at Christmas and has been cared for by old pal Phil Mitchell in the months since. Last week Jay Brown discovered Julie had been desperately searching for Nigel and had reported him missing. He got in contact and summoned her to Walford where she discovered the truth about Nigel's condition. Determined to care for him as his wife, Julie convinced Nigel to return to Scotland to their life and promised to look after him. However just days into their reunion, Nigel went missing again - not able to remember who Julie was nor why he was with her. In tonight's double bill of the soap, Julie made a shock return to Walford searching for Nigel once more. He'd done a runner in the train station as they travelled back up to Edinburgh. Julie ran to Walford and found Phil to see if Nigel had returned there. And it wasn't long until he did with Callum finding him at the tube station. Nigel later told Phil that he wanted to stay, and in a heartbreaking moment couldn't remember who Julie was - leading Phil to make a shock offer. He asked Julie to stay too - and invited her to move in so they could both stay with Nigel and help him. Is it ageing or dementia? Dementia - the most common form of which is Alzheimer's - comes on slowly over time. As the disease progresses, symptoms can become more severe. But at the beginning, the symptoms can be subtle or mistaken for normal memory issues related to ageing. The US National Institute on Aging gives some examples of what is considered normal forgetfulness in old age, and dementia disease. You can refer to these above. For example, it is normal for an ageing person to forget which word to use from time-to-time, but difficulties having conversation would be more indicative of dementia. Katie Puckering, Head of Alzheimer's Research UK's Information Services team, previously told The Sun: 'We quite commonly as humans put our car keys somewhere out of the ordinary and it takes longer for us to find them. 'As you get older, it takes longer for you to recall, or you really have to think; What was I doing? Where was I? What distracted me? Was it that I had to let the dog out? And then you find the keys by the back door. 'That process of retrieving the information is just a bit slower in people as they age. 'In dementia, someone may not be able to recall that information and what they did when they came into the house. 'What may also happen is they might put it somewhere it really doesn't belong. For example, rather than putting the milk back in the fridge, they put the kettle in the fridge.'
