Midjourney video generation is here — but there's a problem holding it back

Midjourney, one of the oldest and best-known AI image generators, is taking a new direction. Following in the footsteps of its competitors, Midjourney is now also offering AI video generation.
Known as V1 Video, this new model allows users to upload an image or use an image generated by Midjourney's V7 image generator, creating a set of short videos from it.
Announced in a post on X and a blog post, David Holz, Midjourney CEO, stated, 'Introducing our V1 Video Model. It's fun, easy, and beautiful. Available at $10/month, it's the first video model for *everyone* and it's available now.'
Unlike some of the other competitors in the AI video world, Midjourney can't make a video from a prompt alone. While this will likely change in the future, it does put Midjourney a few steps behind the likes of Sora and Kling 2.

Launching the product, the Midjourney CEO went on to explain, 'Today's Video workflow will be called 'Image-to-Video'. This means that you still make images in Midjourney, as normal, but now you can press 'Animate' to make them move.'
There is an automatic animation setting that will create a random motion prompt for you. For those wanting more control, there is also the option to manually choose an animation move for the video.
When generating a video, you can choose if it is low or high motion (how much movement happens in the video). Once the video is created, you can extend it, adding four seconds at a time. You can do this up to four times.

While you can add images from outside of Midjourney to animate, Holz added, 'We ask that you please use these technologies responsibly. Properly utilized, it's not just fun, it can also be really useful, or even profound - to make old and new worlds suddenly alive.'
This lines up with Midjourney's recent legal battle with Disney, raising concerns over the use of external copyright in the training model.
As mentioned above, you can currently use Midjourney V1 on the $10 per month plan. However, that could well change pretty soon.
'The actual costs to produce these models and the prices we charge for them are challenging to predict,' Holz added in the announcement post.
'We're going to do our best to give you access right now, and then over the next month, as we watch everyone use the technology (or possibly entirely run out of servers) we'll adjust everything to ensure that we're operating a sustainable business.'
The problem is that the starting cost is already much higher than an image. Midjourney will be charging 8x more for a video creation than for an image. While that is still less than the average competitor, that amount is likely to change.
While you can make videos on the cheapest plan, they will quickly eat up your credits. There will also be a slower but less expensive version of video generation available on the Pro model.

Marvel Studios Stacks 2028 with Four Theatrical Releases, So What Happened To Their Scaling Back Plan? — GeekTyrant

Marvel is apparently going big again in 2028, adding a fourth film to its release calendar for that year for December 15. The other dates set for that year include February 18, May 5, and November 10. This new slot has fans speculating about what films will fill these dates. Is it finally time for the X-Men to officially enter the spotlight? Could Blade rise from development hell? Or is Marvel keeping a bigger surprise under wraps? Variety broke the news of the additional release, but didn't reveal the film's title because Marvel hasn't either. What we do know is that several projects are officially in development, but currently date-less: Shang-Chi 2 , Black Panther 3 , Armor Wars , and of course, the highly-anticipated X-Men movie. Other movies that are rumored include Avengers: Secret Wars Part 2 , Eternals 2 , and even a potential Scarlet Witch solo movie as possibilities. The thing about releasing four Marvel films in one year is that it goes against the plan they've talked about in regards to scaling back. Disney CEO Bob Iger has publicly said the company is scaling back, saying: "We're slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four, and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two or at the maximum three, and we're working hard on what that path is, we've got a couple of good films in '25 and then we're heading to more Avengers, which we're extremely excited about." So… what gives? Is this four-movie year a temporary exception, a reshuffling, or a sign that plans are still very much in flux behind the scenes? Whatever the answer is, 2028 just became a key year for the MCU, and it will be interesting to see what four movies fill it up.

Midjourney launches an AI video generator

Midjourney has released the first version of its video generation model to the public. For now, the tool can generate short videos based on images uploaded or created on the platform, but Midjourney plans on rolling out more capabilities in the future. After creating an image using Midjourney, the service will show a new 'animate' button that users can press to create a 5-second clip based on a text prompt. It will also show the option to add an image you uploaded to the platform as a 'starting frame' for a video. The tool will generate a generic prompt that 'just makes things move' by default, but a 'manual' button lets users describe how they want the motion to look. Introducing our V1 Video Model. It's fun, easy, and beautiful. Available at 10$/month, it's the first video model for *everyone* and it's available now. — Midjourney (@midjourney) June 18, 2025 Users can extend an animation by four seconds up to four times, making for a 21-second-long video in total. There are also high and low motion settings that control whether both the subject and camera move, or just the subject. Midjourney's AI video generator is currently only available on the web and through the startup's Discord server. It requires a subscription to the service, which starts at $10 / month for 3.3 hours of 'fast' GPU time (around 200 image generations). The startup says it will charge 'about 8x more for a video job than an image job,' adding up to around ''one image worth of cost' per second of video.' Midjourney is currently the subject of a lawsuit from Disney and Universal, which cited the prospect of it launching a video generator as a special point of concern. It contends Midjourney offers a 'virtual vending machine, generating endless unauthorized copies of Disney's and Universal's copyrighted work.' The in-progress video generation model was first announced in January, and Disney and Universal argued that its training process meant 'Midjourney is very likely already infringing Plaintiffs' copyrighted works.' In a post announcing the generator, Midjourney founder David Holz says this first version is just 'a stepping stone' as the startup works toward creating 'models capable of real-time open-world simulations.' Google, OpenAI, and Meta have also launched AI video generators, all of which can generate videos with text prompts.

Is ‘The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder' returning for season 3? Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on June 19, 2025, 20:15 IST Last updated June 19, 2025, 20:02 IST The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder has captured hearts with its vibrant revival of the beloved Disney Channel series. Fans are buzzing with excitement, wondering if Penny Proud and her family will return for a third season. Below, we dive into everything we know about The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 3, including its renewal status, potential release date and more. Is The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 3 Confirmed? Yes, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 3 is officially happening! Disney+ announced the renewal on June 13, 2023, during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. This news thrilled fans, as the revival has already surpassed the original series in seasons, marking a significant milestone for the show. Production reportedly began recently, signaling that the series is moving forward steadily. When Will The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 3 Release? While Disney has not confirmed an exact release date, speculation points to a potential premiere in late 2025 or early 2026. The first season debuted in February 2022, followed by the second in February 2023, suggesting a pattern of annual releases. However, a now-deleted Instagram post by co-creator Bruce W. Smith in March 2024 hinted that Season 3 could arrive 'real soon,' though no specific timeline was provided. Some sources estimate a February 2024 release, but this seems unlikely given the recent start of production. A late 2025 release aligns better with typical animation production schedules. What Will the Plot of Season 3 Be About? Details about Season 3's storyline are scarce, but a preview at the 2024 Annecy Festival revealed that the season will kick off with a two-part premiere set in Paris. Penny and her best friend Dijonay Jones join Oscar and Trudy on a vacation, only for the parents to be abducted by a secret agent. This leads to a Mission: Impossible -style rescue mission, promising high-stakes adventure and humor. The season will likely continue exploring Penny's teenage challenges, family dynamics, and cultural themes like self-worth and identity, as seen in previous seasons. The show's setting in Emilyville (formerly Smithville, renamed after Season 2's 'Juneteenth' episode) will provide fresh backdrops for the Prouds' antics.
