Energy Vault Secures Final FIRB Approval and Completes Acquisition of 125 MW/1,000 MWh Stoney Creek BESS in Australia
Energy Vault has formalized its investment position in the Stoney Creek BESS following receipt of Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) approval, enabling full acquisition and control of the project's development and operations. The project was initially announced for acquisition from Enervest Group in March 2025.
This strategic acquisition underscores Energy Vault's commitment to accelerating Australia's transition to a more resilient, low-carbon energy grid. The Stoney Creek BESS represents a flagship deployment within the company's Asset Vault portfolio, leveraging Energy Vault's vertically integrated approach to energy storage development. With full control of the project's lifecycle—from design through long-term operation—Energy Vault is positioned to optimize both performance and profitability while delivering essential grid services.
The project's award of a 14-year LTESA contract provides a strong foundation of contracted revenue, enabling long-term value creation for stakeholders and reinforcing investor confidence. Coupled with Energy Vault's proprietary VaultOS™ platform and advanced B-VAULT™ storage technology, the Stoney Creek BESS will offer critical dispatchable capacity to support peak demand, enhance grid stability, and enable deeper integration of renewable energy sources across New South Wales.
The 125 MW/1,000 MWh BESS was awarded a 14-year Long-Term Energy Service Agreement (LTESA) under Roadmap Tender Round 5 for Long Duration Storage, administered by AEMO Services as the Consumer Trustee under the New South Wales Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap. The LTESA provides up to 14 years of predictable, contracted revenue, helping to de-risk the project and accelerate investment in critical storage infrastructure.
The Stoney Creek BESS has been designed to deliver eight hours of dispatchable energy, and once operational, will support grid reliability and flexibility in a strategic location within NSW's transitioning energy landscape. Energy Vault is developing and integrating the project, utilizing its VaultOS™ energy management platform and B-VAULT™ system to optimize performance, market participation, and long-term asset management.
'The formal acquisition of Stoney Creek represents a first and very significant milestone in Energy Vault's long-term investment strategy for Australia,' said Robert Piconi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Energy Vault. 'As the first non-US project developed under our global 'Own & Operate' asset strategy, Stoney Creek underscores our focus on attractive, high growth markets for energy storage solutions supported by favorable regulatory policies as is the case with Australia. We have multiple storage projects in various stages of construction across eastern Australia, and we look forward now to focusing on moving the Stoney Creek BESS rapidly to RTB construction and eventual operation in order to maximize the benefits for the local communities while supporting the NSW regional decarbonization goals.'
Stoney Creek represents one of several large-scale 'Own & Operate' assets Energy Vault is advancing across Australia, underpinning a growing pipeline of energy storage deployments designed to enable both merchant and contracted revenue streams through the company's Energy VaultOS™ and Vault-Bidder™ platforms.

Where Will Ford Be in 3 Years?
Key Points Ford is launching a new EV platform for upcoming electrified models. A new $30,000 EV pickup truck is slated for 2027. The company will still have to manage tariffs and a shift in the U.S. federal government's approach to EVs over the next few years. 10 stocks we like better than Ford Motor Company › Switch Auto Insurance and Save Today! Great Rates and Award-Winning Service The Insurance Savings You Expect Affordable Auto Insurance, Customized for You There's a lot of transition in the auto industry right now, but no other legacy car manufacturer may be undergoing bigger shifts than Ford (NYSE: F). The company recently announced that it will use a new production process to build and launch an entirely new electric vehicle (EV) lineup, beginning with a pickup truck that costs around $30,000. It's an ambitious plan, and Ford hasn't laid out all the details yet, but it's clear that this is the company's roadmap over the next few years. For that reason, it's worth diving into what Ford has said about its plans, as well as some of the biggest challenges it'll face. 1. It'll have an entirely new EV platform by 2027 Ford said it assembled a stealth skunkworks team to completely rethink the assembly line for a new era. The result will be the Ford Universal EV Platform that future vehicles will be built on. Specifically, the assembly line will reduce parts by 20% compared to a typical vehicle and have 40% fewer workstations, and vehicles will be 15% faster to assemble. The goal is to get a new EV pickup truck to customers by 2027, with a price tag of around $30,000. That's an enormously ambitious plan. To get there, Ford will spend $2 billion converting a Kentucky factory for the new vehicle lineup, which will eventually make more than just the pickup truck. It'll also spend an additional $3 billion previously announced for a battery factory in Michigan. 2. Ford will shift toward improved profitability Of course, any new venture a company makes has the goal of making money. But it's worth mentioning that Ford appears laser-focused on making this successful and realizes that the next few years are a do-or-die EV scenario for the company. Ford CEO Jim Farley said in a press release: "We have all lived through far too many 'good college tries' by Detroit automakers to make affordable vehicles that ends up with idled plants, layoffs and uncertainty. So, this had to be a strong, sustainable and profitable business. From Day 1, we knew there was no incremental path to success." There's a sense of urgency from Ford here. Frankly, that's good to see. Ford understands that competition from China is fierce and that if those rivals were ever to sell their products in the U.S., legacy automakers would not be able to compete. And with the average transaction cost of an electric vehicle in the U.S. being about $57,000, Ford is positioning itself both to be profitable with its new EV line, and to appeal to the budgets of the masses. While there's no guarantee of success, Ford's aim over the next several years to have a new, profitable EV lineup that's efficiently produced and affordable is a step in the right direction. 3. There will still be some headwinds from tariffs While Ford is clearly working to reduce its exposure to automotive tariffs, it's important to note that it's not out of the woods. Ford said tariffs have cost the company about $800 million already. Management recently increased the projected hit to its pre-tax adjusted profit to $3 billion -- $500 million higher than previously estimated. In addition to tariffs, the company will have to contend with a less hospitable EV environment as the federal EV credits disappear at the end of September. Ford's new lower-cost EV model is accounting for this and could spur its own demand simply by being an affordable EV. But it's noteworthy that the federal government is backing away from trying to spur the electric vehicle market. It means that Ford and other automakers will be left to convince buyers that electric vehicles are worth buying on their own merits. Where does all this leave Ford in three years? Even with Ford's ambitious EV plans, there are still a lot of unknowns with the company over the next few years. For one, will customers want its new EVs? I wouldn't mind a $30,000 pickup truck option, and others probably wouldn't either. But that leads to another question: Can it actually deliver on that price tag? Plenty of automakers have promised an affordable EV in the U.S., and it usually ends up being more of a unicorn than reality. Ford has a lot to prove over the next three years. The company's stock will likely rise or fall based on how well it delivers on its latest EV plan. Do the experts think Ford Motor Company is a buy right now? 3 Tech Stocks That Could Go Parabolic
Key Points IonQ has the opportunity to be the big winner in quantum computing. SoundHound AI is looking to be a leader in voice and agentic AI. AppLovin has a huge opportunity to expand its AI adtech to areas other than gaming apps. 10 stocks we like better than IonQ › When it comes to investing, there are times when you're going to want to swing big. Not all these investments will pan out, but if one hits, your portfolio will greatly benefit. Just remember that these types of riskier picks should only account for part of an overall diversified portfolio. Let's look at three growth stocks that have the potential to go parabolic. 1. IonQ IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) is moving quantum computing from theory into the real world. The company is already delivering systems to commercial, government, and academic customers while working toward fault-tolerant machines that can run at scale. That's the breakthrough the industry needs to achieve mainstream success. IonQ is working from a position of strength. Following a recent equity offering, the company now has $1.6 billion in cash (as of July 9, 2025), making it one of the best-capitalized players in the field. In addition, the company is spending its money wisely by making key acquisitions to both expand its talent base and add new capabilities, such as space-based quantum networks. Its partnership with AstraZeneca, Amazon, and Nvidia, is working to demonstrate a quantum-accelerated computational chemistry workflow. This collaboration involves integrating IonQ's quantum processing unit with Nvidia's CUDA-Q platform, powered by Amazon's AWS infrastructure. It's showing early signs of success, with AstraZeneca seeing a 20-fold speed-up in drug development workflows. It has also recently formed a quantum networking division, making a move to become a leader in this space, as well. If quantum computing fulfills its promise, the market could be enormous. IonQ's combination of financial strength, key partnerships, and technology leadership puts it in a prime position to be one of the biggest winners in the space. 2. SoundHound AI SoundHound AI (NASDAQ: SOUN) is looking to carve out a leadership position in conversational and agentic artificial intelligence (AI). Its acquisition of Amelia last year gave it access to the company's advanced conversational intelligence, which it then combined with its "speech-to-meaning" and "deep meaning understanding" tech. The result is Amelia 7.0, a voice-first agentic AI platform that allows customers to create AI agents with little to no coding. These agents can complete tasks independently, which greatly expands the valuation proposition of SoundHound's platform. It's also added real-time AI visual recognition to its tech stack, making its platform even more powerful. SoundHound has long had a strong foothold in the automotive and restaurant sectors, where it continues to see strong success. Meanwhile, the Amelia acquisition gave it a solid foundation in other industry verticals, including financial services and healthcare, which are now major priorities. The strength of the combination was on full display in Q2, as SoundHound's revenue soared 217% year over year to $42.7 million, far outpacing expectations. It also raised its full-year guidance due to accelerating demand, and expects to reach adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) profitability by the end of 2025. This is still an early-stage, high-risk investment, but the market potential for voice-powered and multimodal agentic AI is huge. If SoundHound can become a leader in this space, the stock has tremendous upside from here. 3. AppLovin AppLovin (NASDAQ: APP) has been one of the market's most explosive growth stories, with its shares up more than 400% over the past year. However, its outperformance could be far from done. Following the sale of its legacy gaming app portfolio, AppLovin is now a pure-play adtech platform. Its secret sauce is its AI engine, Axon 2.0, which optimizes ad targeting, bidding, and placement, driving strong results for its gaming app clients. It sees the gaming app market alone growing at a 20% to 30% annual pace for the foreseeable future. However, it has more growth drivers ahead. It's currently testing its platform with e-commerce and web-based ads, expanding beyond just gaming apps. It also plans to open its platform to advertisers outside the U.S. and launch a self-serve ads manager next year. Management believes this will be the foundation for its next leg of growth, expanding its customer base and use cases well beyond gaming. While short-sellers have taken shots at the company, AppLovin has continued to deliver strong revenue, earnings, and free cash flow growth quarter after quarter. If Axon 2.0 proves as effective outside gaming apps as it has within them, the stock could continue its vertical ascent. Should you invest $1,000 in IonQ right now? Is There Now An Opportunity In TransDigm Group Incorporated (NYSE:TDG)?
Today we're going to take a look at the well-established TransDigm Group Incorporated (NYSE:TDG). The company's stock received a lot of attention from a substantial price movement on the NYSE over the last few months, increasing to US$1,621 at one point, and dropping to the lows of US$1,373. Some share price movements can give investors a better opportunity to enter into the stock, and potentially buy at a lower price. A question to answer is whether TransDigm Group's current trading price of US$1,388 reflective of the actual value of the large-cap? Or is it currently undervalued, providing us with the opportunity to buy? Let's take a look at TransDigm Group's outlook and value based on the most recent financial data to see if there are any catalysts for a price change. Trump has pledged to "unleash" American oil and gas and these 15 US stocks have developments that are poised to benefit. Is TransDigm Group Still Cheap? According to our valuation model, TransDigm Group seems to be fairly priced at around 0.57% above our intrinsic value, which means if you buy TransDigm Group today, you'd be paying a relatively fair price for it. And if you believe the company's true value is $1380.06, then there isn't really any room for the share price grow beyond what it's currently trading. Although, there may be an opportunity to buy in the future. This is because TransDigm Group's beta (a measure of share price volatility) is high, meaning its price movements will be exaggerated relative to the rest of the market. If the market is bearish, the company's shares will likely fall by more than the rest of the market, providing a prime buying opportunity. See our latest analysis for TransDigm Group What kind of growth will TransDigm Group generate? Investors looking for growth in their portfolio may want to consider the prospects of a company before buying its shares. Buying a great company with a robust outlook at a cheap price is always a good investment, so let's also take a look at the company's future expectations. TransDigm Group's earnings over the next few years are expected to increase by 47%, indicating a highly optimistic future ahead. This should lead to more robust cash flows, feeding into a higher share value. What This Means For You Are you a shareholder? It seems like the market has already priced in TDG's positive outlook, with shares trading around its fair value. However, there are also other important factors which we haven't considered today, such as the track record of its management team. Have these factors changed since the last time you looked at the stock? Will you have enough conviction to buy should the price fluctuates below the true value? Are you a potential investor? If you've been keeping an eye on TDG, now may not be the most advantageous time to buy, given it is trading around its fair value. However, the optimistic prospect is encouraging for the company, which means it's worth diving deeper into other factors such as the strength of its balance sheet, in order to take advantage of the next price drop. Keep in mind, when it comes to analysing a stock it's worth noting the risks involved. Be aware that TransDigm Group is showing 3 warning signs in our investment analysis and 2 of those can't be ignored...
