Oasis beaten by another British band to be crowned 'biggest entertainers on the planet'

Daily Mail5 hours ago

They're arguably the hottest topic in the country at the moment with their long-awaited reunion tour going ahead in just a couple of weeks.
But Oasis are actually not the most-popular entertainers in Britain, never mind the world, according to new figures compiled by Pollstar.
The music analysts gathered stats concerning gig revenue from November 14 2024 to May 2025 in order to find out exactly who the most in-demand artist or group on the planet is.
One band in particular ran away with the lead, beating superstars such as Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and Shakira to top spot.
They grossed a whopping £100.9million from their stadium tour this year, but can you guess who the band is?
The biggest entertainers on the planet are none other than Coldplay, fronted by Chris Martin, 48, who have spent the last three years touring the globe on the Music of the Spheres Tour.
And they're in no danger of being pipped at the top, with second place Shakira 15 per cent off their earnings at £85million and Kendrick Lamar and SZA (£73.9million) 30 per cent off in third place.
Also featured in the top 10 are The Eagles (£68.82million), Tyler, The Creator (49.5million) and Korean artist j-hope (44.04million).
While their tour hasn't started yet, Liam and Noel Gallagher are expected to narrowly lose out to Coldplay at the top of the list.
The Oasis Live '25 tour is likely to see the two Manchester-born brothers take home £50million each once they've completed each of the 41 dates in various continents.
After months of anticipation, the Gallaghers at last began rehearsals together a few weeks ago in preparation for their official reunion at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on July 4.
Having split more than 15 years ago following a huge row before a Paris show, the brothers were pictured on their way to a West London studio a matter of weeks ago.
In typical Liam style, the singer made a chaotic entrance to rehearsals, arriving in a van laden with Lockets and cough syrup, suggesting his vocal cords were in need of some TLC.
While Don't Look Back in Anger singer Noel was seen waiting for a District Line tube at Paddington station earlier in the day, but while it is no doubt a momentous occasion for fans, the 58-year-old struggled to muster up a smile.
Following rehearsals, Liam took to X to hail the Oasis practice sessions as 'spiritual' while also admitting that the band wasted 'precious time' apart from each other.
A user on X (formerly Twitter) asked the singer: 'How does it feel singing songs with ur brother again? Like old times?'
To which, Liam replied: 'You know what it's spiritual but I can't help think about all those wasted years, what a waste of PRECIOUS time.'
It came as a new book titled Live Forever by John Robb gave die-hard Oasis fans an insight into exactly how the band's split came about.
One witness said: 'Liam was goading Noel constantly and then the two snapped.'
Another witness remembered: 'There were proper punches and Liam smashed up one of Noel's guitars. Liam was like a man possessed.
They continued: 'He was swearing constantly and really angry. Medical staff were called along with security. Noel got out as quickly as he could. This was a truly vicious fight - quite horrible.'
In his statement confirming he had quit the band at the time, Noel wrote: 'The level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable.'
But thankfully, the duo have now made up and it is believed that Liam made the first move to patch things up with his brother.
On X, formerly Twitter, Liam replied to a fan last year, saying: 'I called him but don't tell anyone as I don't want folk thinking I'm a soft lad and stuffs keep it between me n you cheers x.'
Book author John, who is a close friend of Noel, has reportedly written the programme notes for the upcoming tour.
Discussing the reunion in his new book Live Forever, John said: 'The reformation rumours never did end.
'Every now and then there would be rumblings…Every year they would go from a whisper to a scream. And then silence. Venues would be booked and unbooked. Fans hopes and despaired.
'On August 27 the band announced they had reformed and everything went crazy. A tour was announced where the band were playing bigger stadiums than they had ever played before.
'Somehow by splitting up and reforming 15 years later they had become the biggest band in the world again.'

"Get ready for a delicious, slightly burnt and completely fabulous ride – that golden frying pan is waiting.' Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment and Daytime Commissioning ITV, added: "We are delighted to bring 'Cooking With The Stars' back for another series. Glen Powell in action in Glasgow as city is transformed for shooting of new J.J. Abrams film

You could be forgiven for thinking you were seeing double. But the uncanny resemblance was a much-needed feature as Hollywood hunk Glen Powell was joined by his stunt double as they filmed a new sci-fi fantasy on the streets of Glasgow. The 36-year-old American was seen warming up for the scenes for Ghostwriter, a fantasy adventure currently being filmed in Scotland that also stars Samuel L Jackson. He was seen doing intense exercises in front of bemused cast and crew before his stunt double was spotted hanging off a bus as he pursued a girl. Powell was on set with director J.J. Abrams, who is behind films like Cloverfield and the more recent Star Wars films, with the city thought to be doubling up as a futuristic New York. Filming started in Glasgow on Saturday after other scenes were shot in London on April 26. Streets have been transformed to create the fictitious setting, including unusual signage, faux brick walls and a makeshift subway entrance all being spotted. As well as Powell and Jackson, the movie is due star Jenna Ortega - best known for playing Wednesday Adams in the Netflix TV show named after the character. Produced by Warner Bros, the film marks Abrams' first project since Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker in 2019. Powell will be familiar with the city, having filmed scenes in Glashgow for Edgar Wright's reboot of 1987 action flick The Running Man. Like the current filming, a number of sites in the city were used to emulate the streets of New York, with scenes shot across the city centre, the West End and the SEC Armadillo.

Iconic British Olympian in talks to join Strictly Come Dancing as BBC bid to clean up scandal-hit show

OLYMPICS running legend Sir Mo Farah is in talks to appear on this year's Strictly Come Dancing. BBC chiefs are courting his team in a bid to restore the scandal-hit show's family-friendly image, it is understood. 3 Its reputation was dented when actress Amanda Abbington accused her professional partner Giovanni Pernice of bullying in 2023. Team GB hero Sir Mo, 42, however, is seen by BBC bosses as a 'genuine national treasure' whose squeaky-clean image and profile would be popular with viewers and rebuild trust. A source said: 'His personality would provide the perfect tonic to the toxicity that's overshadowed Strictly. "Bosses would love to sign him up but the talks are at a very early stage.' Sir Mo won 5,000 and 10,000m golds at the London and Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2012 and 2016. He came fifth in I'm A Celebrity . . . in 2020 when it filmed in Wales because of Covid. Asked if he would consider Strictly, Somalia-born Sir Mo replied: 'Hopefully, when the time is right,' before joking he had 'two left feet'. He would not say if he had had an approach. A BBC spokeswoman declined to comment.
