NEIL WARNOCK has hinted at a shock return to management.
Warnock, 76, has been out of the dugout since an interim spell in charge of Aberdeen last year.

He currently holds a position as a football advisor with Torquay United - but has now suggested he would be interest in taking the vacant role at crisis club Sheffield Wednesday.
Owls boss Danny Rohl left my mutual consent on Tuesday, leaving the already stricken club managerless just 11 days before the start of the new season.
Now Warnock - who managed the Owls' bitter rivals Sheffield United between 1999 and 2007 - has left the door open to taking the reins at Hillsborough.
Asked on talkSPORT if he would take the job, Warnock said: "Well, you've got to say yes.

"At my age? Deary me, but you never say never in anything.
"It is a good club, and it does need managing, really. I think they've not had the sustained success…
"I mean, the crowds are unbelievable and they've maintained that, whatever division they've gone down to."
He added: "It's sad to see some of the players leaving now because of their contractual situations, but it will bounce back, all good clubs bounce back."

Should Warnock take charge, he may be on the end of a frosty reception from the away supporters on November 23 when the Blades travel to Hillsborough in the first Steel City Derby of the season.
The Owls have been in disarray since the end of last season, with wages going unpaid and players ripping their contract up as a result.

Wednesday suffered yet another blow on Tuesday when - just hours after Rohl's departure - the club announced Hillsborough's North Stand had been closed by Sheffield City Council owing to safety concerns.
The closure of the North Stand - which bears the name of much-maligned owner Chansiri - will leave up to 9,000 supporters in disarray.
Despite Warnock's interest, however, he looks set to miss out on the role to a man who is already in the building at Sheffield Wednesday.

Henrik Pedersen is set to be chosen as the Owls' new boss, according to reports from the Sheffield Star.
The Dane had already taken the lead in several Wednesday training sessions throughout the summer as uncertainty surrounded Rohl, and he is now set to formally be appointed boss.

But when you look at their numbers calculated per 90 minutes, Simons matched or bettered Palmer's output. Away from the more obvious stats like goals and assists, there are others which show how Simons might not only provide Palmer-like qualities but also offer something new. Amazingly, he had nearly 15 more touches per 90 minutes than Palmer and was also fouled more often. Over the course of their careers in the big five European leagues, Palmer (two full seasons in the Prem) comes out ahead of Simons (two full seasons in the Bundesliga and a smattering of Ligue 1 experience at PSG) in a number of areas. But you can argue that Simons' breakout year for PSV Eindhoven in 2022-23 — Holland's Eredivisie is not one of the Big Five — should also be taken into account. He scored 19 times and provided eight assists in 34 league appearances, bouncing back from his difficult spell at PSG. There are always worries about whether players who are outstanding in other big leagues can reproduce that form in England. Rogers, Eze and Garnacho, to one extent or other, have proved themselves in the Premier League. But the fact remains that Simons outperforms them in pretty much every area except dribbling. And Chelsea have already signed out-and-out wingers Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian to boost them in that area. Simons is also versatile. He started on the left most of the time for Leipzig last season but not as a full blown winger, as he tended to come inside to impose himself on the game. 8 Palmer needs rest and Chelsea need a player who has equal ability to step in for him every now and then Credit: Getty 8 Simon plays with a similar intensity as Palmer And he has also played on the right, as an attacking midfielder, No 10 and even a false nine. He would give Blues boss Maresca a variety of options and fits the Chelsea policy of buying gifted young players. If the Londoners do complete a deal for Simons, doubts will be raised about how Maresca fits all that attacking talent into one team. Could Palmer and Simons play together, without treading on each other's toes? If one failed to deliver, then the other might. But if they both click, Chelsea's opponents at home and abroad would be in for a torrid time.

Ruben Amorim makes thoughts clear after Bournemouth win – 'He belongs in Manchester'
Patrick Dorgu caught the eye in Manchester United's 4-1 win over Bournemouth in Chicago, with head coach Ruben Amorim lavishing praise on the promising wing-back Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim hailed Patrick Dorgu following his standout display in the 4-1 thrashing of Bournemouth in Chicago. Dorgu set up Rasmus Hojlund for United's first goal eight minutes into the game and then bagged one himself just under 20 minutes later. The young Dane capitalised on a quick free-kick from Mason Mount, shrugged off his marker, burst forward and coolly finished past Bournemouth keeper Djordje Petrovic, marking his first goal since his February move from Lecce. While Dorgu could be set for a long future at United, Amorim has hinted Hojlund could be heading for the exit door. The Dane has seen striker Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo arrive this summer, while interest has been lodged in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. Amorim is pleased with Hojlund's pre-season work but could not offer the 22-year-old any reassurance over his future. He said: 'I'm really happy with Rasmus, but I don't know what is going to happen until the end of the market. 'The important thing is that Rasmus is scoring goals. He's connecting really well with the team. He's improving. 'Again, I don't know what is going to happen until the market is closed. We suffered a lot because of the lack of goals last season.' Cunha did not play against Bournemouth due to fatigue, while Mbeumo is scheduled to make his first appearance against Everton in Atlanta on Sunday. Harry Maguire was replaced by Matthijs de Ligt, who scored an 88th-minute own goal, at half-time.
