Oklahoma Sooners trending for former Florida State DL commit
Steve Wiltfong of Rivals issued a futurecast favoring the Oklahoma Sooners for ESPN four-star defensive lineman James Carrington. On Thursday morning, Carrington decommitted from Florida State. Carrington originally committed to the Seminoles back in June. Now, it looks like the Sooners have become the favorite for the defensive lineman out of California.
Carrington has 25 Power Four offers, including nine SEC offers from schools like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma.
The Sooners currently have the No. 21 class in the 2026 recruiting cycle after earning a commitment from Kreul. The Sooners have built a defensive line depth chart that can stand up to SEC play under Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis and the Sooners look like they're about to add another defensive line prospect.

New England Patriots' Drake Maye and Minnesota Vikings' Sam Howell, two of the best QBs ever at UNC, will meet for a joint practice and preseason game this weekend. Two of the best to ever play the position at North Carolina are meeting up in joint practices this weekend ahead of a showdown between their two teams in Week 2 of the NFL preseason. Drake Maye of the New England Patriots and Sam Howell of the Minnesota Vikings are together again, like they were at UNC for a short time. The two quarterbacks started back-to-back careers at North Carolina all their way to the NFL. Howell came first and played at North Carolina from 2019-2021. He played in 37 games, totaling 1,117 yards and 92 touchdowns with 23 interceptions. His best year topped 3,500 yards through the air and 38 touchdowns. Following Howell in 2021, Drake Maye took over. Maye was the starter from 2022-2023, where he won the 2022 ACC Offensive Player of the Year and the overall Player of the Year as well. In total, Maye threw for 8,018 yards in those two seasons, totaling 63 touchdowns and just 16 interceptions. In his best season, he threw for 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns. The Washington Commanders drafted Howell in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was the No. 144 overall pick. After being traded from the Commanders to the Seattle Seahawks, he has since signed with the Vikings as the backup to J.J. McCarthy. Maye, on the other hand, was the No. 3 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Patriots. According to an article written by Shelby Swanson of the Star Tribune, Howell had some mighty things to say about Maye at training camp last week. 'He's my best friend. He means a lot to me. We're going through a lot of the same things, and he's just a great friend. We challenge each other to make each other better in the offseason. ... He's like a brother.' The two will face off as the Patriots take on the Vikings at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 16th. Golden State Warriors' 2025-2026 regular season schedule features more holiday games, some late tip-offs
Holiday matchups and some extra late tipoffs are among the games included in the Golden State Warriors' 2025-2026 regular season schedule, which the team released on Thursday. The Warriors will be one of four teams kicking off the NBA regular season on October 21. Opening night will have Golden State facing the Los Angeles Lakers at Arena, following the first game of the regular season, which will have the Houston Rockets at the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder. The opening night games will be televised on NBC as the network returns to broadcasting NBA games for the first time since the 2002 NBA Finals. The Warriors will be featured on a franchise-record 34 national TV appearances, including its home opener on October 23 against the Denver Nuggets. For the 15th time in the last 16 years, Golden State will also again be part of the slate of Christmas Day matchups, facing former Warrior Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The Warriors will play on MLK Day for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons on January 19 at home against the Miami Heat. While most of the weekday home games during the regular season tip off at 7 p.m., there will be three 8 p.m. start times: October 28 vs. Los Angeles Clippers, December 2 vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder, and January 13 vs. the Portland Trail Blazers. The 8 p.m. tipoffs will be the latest start time for a Warriors home game since 1999, the team said. This season, Golden State will play in Emirates NBA Cup Group West C with the Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs, with knockout rounds scheduled for December 9, 10, 13, 16. Golden State will also be featured in several streaming-only broadcasts, on NBC's Peacock service, and on Amazon Prime Video, as the service makes its NBA broadcast debut this season. Spartans bringing a better O-Line to the table this year per comment from position coach
Spartans assistant coach Jim Michalczik provided an optimistic report on his offensive line on Thursday One of the areas that could make or break the Spartans this year is the offensive line, and it sounds like things are looking pretty good there as we progress through fall preseason camp. The Spartans have a number of weapons at the skilled positions this year, but if you're offensive line isn't any good then it doesn't mean much. Good thing for Michigan State is that offensive line coach Jim Michalczik is confident in that bunch after the first few weeks of fall camp. He met with the local media on Thursday and expressed some strong confidence in his offensive line compared to the unit from a year ago, while noting there is still room for improvement as they approach the season. "We have a bunch of dudes that can play," Michalczik said during his media availability. "The fun thing with this camp is that every day the bar just got higher. Every day we have improved, (but) I still think we have a lot of improvement to go... We are so much further advanced in understanding the offense, understanding football. We are talking about things we never talked about last year. We have so much more of the offense in now so (I'm) optimistic, yeah, but still have a lot more work to do." Michalczik added that a number of starting spots are still up for grabs, and that they should get some decisions made out of Saturday's second fall camp scrimmage. This goes in line with a comment from head coach Jonathan Smith earlier this week where he stated there's roughly 10 guys in the mix for a starting spot after the first two weeks of fall camp. Michigan State has a few more weeks of fall camp remaining before they open the 2025 season on August 29 against Western Michigan.
