Del Taco expands to Louisville with new franchise agreement
Mexican quick-service restaurant chain Del Taco has unveiled plans for a significant expansion into the Louisville, Kentucky area through a five-store development agreement with new franchisee and local restaurant operator Karan Pandher.
This move is Del Taco's first entry into the Louisville market.
Pandher will lead the development and management of the five upcoming Del Taco outlets.
Pandher stated: 'Bringing Del Taco to Louisville has been an incredibly exciting journey for me. The journey with Del Taco so far has been great and smooth.'
'As someone deeply invested in this city, I'm proud to introduce a concept that doesn't just serve great food but also creates jobs, builds connections and adds something new to Louisville's vibrant food scene.'
The restaurants will showcase the chain's latest Fresh Flex design, intended to enhance customer experience with dual drive-through lanes and convenient pick-up lockers. These features cater to mobile app orders and third-party delivery services, streamlining the process for both customers and delivery personnel.
Del Taco's dishes are made with premium ingredients such as freshly grilled meats, house-grated cheddar and hand-chopped pico de gallo.
The menu features fan favourites such as crinkle-cut fries and Epic Burritos, all freshly prepared on-site.
While the specific locations of the new Louisville restaurants are still under consideration, Del Taco anticipates the first opening in 2026 and 2027.
Del Taco director of franchise development Dustin Thompson stated: 'Our team is excited to welcome Karan to the Del Taco family.'
'He possesses the entrepreneurial spirit, operational expertise and passion for our brand that we look for in franchisees. This agreement represents a significant step in our strategic expansion plans across the Midwest. This announcement builds upon our recent development agreement for ten stores in the neighbouring DMA [Designated Market Area] of Indianapolis.'
The announcement follows a February 2025 agreement to launch 10 new locations in the state of Indiana.

Arizona Hit by Series of Mexican Restaurants Closing
Arizona has been hit by a series of Mexican restaurants closing from different chains. Most recently, in June, eight of Filiberto's Mexican Restaurants closed their doors at one time, surprising customers. According to the Phoenix New Times, the eight locations "closed with no explanation," but it might be due to a medical issue. Customers vented on Reddit about the loss. "Why are a bunch of locations closed with just a sign on the door that says closed. No explanation or nothing. Just a hand written sign," a person wrote. Then there's Buqui Bichi Brewing, which opened its first U.S. location in Chandler, AZ, and its second in Phoenix, "offering imported beer and a Mexican-fusion food menu," according to the Phoenix New Times . However, as of May 1, neither is open, with the Phoenix taproom shutting its doors, the New Times reported. In February, On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina closed all of its Arizona locations; it had three in the Valley, according to AZCentral. The company lists no Arizona locations on its website. In April, a Taco Bell restaurant that was one of the first in the country shut its doors after 60 years in Scottsdale, AZ, according to Fox 10 Phoenix. That restaurant was considered an icon as it was the 31st Taco Bell restaurant in the country, the New York Post reported. In 2024, AZ Family reported that Serrano's Mexican Restaurants had closed two locations in the state, in Chandler and Tempe. In 2020, a Mexican restaurant called El Indio Restaurant shut down in Tucson, Hit by Series of Mexican Restaurants Closing first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 13, 2025

GM's $4 Billion Spending Push Shows Why Reshoring Is So Hard
To get Industrial Strength delivered directly to your inbox, sign up here. General Motors Co.'s announcement this week that it will spend $4 billion to increase car production in the US is one of the biggest victories yet for those who argue President Donald Trump's tariff tornado will unleash a domestic manufacturing resurgence. At the same time, GM's investment underscores why it's so hard to orchestrate a broader reshoring of factory work to the US. As part of this push, GM plans to shift some assembly of several top-selling and highly profitable models, including the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks and the Chevrolet Equinox SUV, from Mexico to the US. The higher profit margins on those vehicles give GM more room to absorb the elevated labor, infrastructure and regulatory costs that come with manufacturing in the US, whereas it will continue to take advantage of lower-cost plants in Mexico for its cheaper vehicles — and for reduced volumes of the models that are moving. Mexican Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard separately said GM told him it doesn't expect layoffs or plant closures in that country.

Zacks.com featured highlights include Flex, CVS Health, Urban Outfitters and Exelixis
Chicago, IL – June 13, 2025 – Stocks in this week's article are Flex Ltd. FLEX, CVS Health CVS, Urban Outfitters URBN and Exelixis EXEL. In the equity market, investments always need to be prudently hedged to overcome uncertainties and limit losses related to external shocks. A question that often arises is whether one should resort to a value strategy that seeks discounted stocks or opt for growth investing in times of extreme market instability. The investing track of the Oracle of Omaha over the past few decades and his gradual shift from being a pure-play value investor to a GARP (growth at a reasonable price) investor might give us all the answers. Several stocks that have surged significantly in the recent past show an overwhelming success of this hybrid investing strategy over pure-play value and growth investments. Here, we will discuss the success of four such stocks. These are Flex Ltd., CVS Health, Urban Outfitters and Exelixis. The GARP theory enables strategic mingling of growth and value-investing principles, which gives us a hybrid strategy by utilizing the best features of both. What GARPers look for is whether or not the stocks are somewhat undervalued and have solid, sustainable growth potential (Investopedia). GARP investing gives priority to one of the popular value metrics — the price/earnings growth (PEG) ratio. Although it is categorized under value investing, this strategy follows the principles of both growth and value investing. The PEG ratio is defined as (Price/ Earnings)/Earnings Growth Rate It relates stocks' P/E ratio with their future earnings growth rates. While P/E alone gives an idea of stocks that are trading at a discount, PEG, while adding the growth element to it, helps identify stocks with solid future potential. A lower PEG ratio, preferably less than 1, is always better for GARP investors. Say, for example, if a stock's P/E ratio is 10 and the expected long-term growth rate is 15%, the company's PEG will come down to 0.66, a ratio indicating both undervaluation and future growth potential. Unfortunately, this ratio is often neglected due to investors' limitations in calculating the future earnings growth rate of a stock. There are some drawbacks to using the PEG ratio though. It does not consider the very common situation of changing growth rates, such as the forecast of the first three years at a very high growth rate, followed by a sustainable but lower growth rate over the long term. Hence, PEG-based investing can be even more rewarding if some other relevant parameters are also taken into consideration. Here are the four stocks that qualified the screening: Flex: This Singapore-based company has a diverse workforce across 30 countries and offers advanced manufacturing solutions and additional value to customers through a wide array of services, including design and engineering, component services, rapid prototyping, fulfilment, and circular economy solutions. FLEX stock can be an impressive GARP investment pick with its Zacks Rank #2 and a Value Score of A. Apart from a discounted PEG and P/E, Flex also has an impressive long-term historical earnings growth rate of 35.1%. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank stocks here. CVS Health: Headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, this is a pharmacy innovation company with integrated offerings across the entire spectrum of pharmacy care. CVS Health is investing in advanced technological capabilities to cut down costs and improve customer experience. Improved Medicare Advantage star ratings for the 2025 payment year are a positive development for the company. CVS can also be an impressive GARP investment pick with its Zacks Rank #2 and a Value Score of A. Apart from a discounted PEG and P/E, CVS Health also has a solid long-term expected growth rate of 11.4%. Urban Outfitters: Based in Philadelphia, PA, Urban Outfitters is a lifestyle specialty retailer that offers fashion apparel and accessories, footwear, home décor and gift products. The company's merchandise is generally sold directly to consumers through stores, catalogs, call centers and e-commerce platforms. Apart from a discounted PEG and P/E, Urban Outfitters has a Value Score of A and holds a Zacks Rank #1. URBN stock also has a 20% earnings growth rate for the last five years. The stock can be an impressive value investment pick with its Zacks Rank #2 and a Value Score of B.
