Hyd: KCR to appear before PC Ghose Commission today
Hyderabad, June 11 (UNI) In a significant political and legal development, former Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) is set to appear before the Kaleshwaram Commission, which is probing alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, on Wednesday at 1100 hours.
The hearing, to be held at BRK Bhavan under the chairmanship of Justice P C Ghose, will not be conducted in camera and is expected to draw wide public and media attention.
KCR is appearing before the commission in his capacity as the former Chief Minister of Telangana to answer questions regarding the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, one of the flagship initiatives of his government.
Sources within the BRS confirmed that KCR has taken the commission's summons seriously. He had earlier deferred his appearance by a week to prepare thoroughly, holding consultations with senior party leaders, former irrigation officials, engineering experts, and BRS leader Harish Rao.
Party sources also indicate that KCR will hold final discussions with top BRS functionaries at Telangana Bhavan before proceeding to the hearing venue. They also emphasise that KCR is fully prepared to defend the project, asserting that the Kaleshwaram scheme was executed methodically and by all procedural norms.
Earlier, the Commission also questioned former ministers Etala Rajender and T Harish Rao.

Former Bangladesh PM urges party members to unite people against Yunus' ‘illegal' government
Dhaka, June 12 (UNI) Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged party leaders and activists to stand by the people, unite them, and launch a robust movement to oust the 'illegal' interim government led by 'conspirator and mob king', Chief Advisor Mohammed Yunus. In her latest audio message, the 77-year-old Awami League president called Yunus, his aides, and student coordinators criminals, accusing them of plundering public funds, killing Awami League members, and looting their homes and businesses. She alleged that the leaders of the so-called Anti-Discrimination Movement are now ironically fostering discrimination across the country, promoting the rampant rise of Islamic extremism and eroding its political fabric, reports the party's media agency Daily Republic. Sheikh Hasina noted that the anti-quota movement remained peaceful until July 15, but thereafter, protesters began attacking police, torching government buildings, and blocking roads. Accusing the SAD members of targeting police and military personnel, she highlighted her administration's work in domestic security, stating that it necessary actions to protect lives and property. 'We did nothing wrong.' She also slammed her rival party - the Bangladesh Nationalist Party led by ex-PM Khaleda Zia - for engaging in looting and terrorism and condemning the Jamaat-e-Islami for murders and cutting tendons. Only Cong can ensure protection, justice for minorities: TPCC Office Bearers
Hyderabad, June 12 (UNI) Senior Muslim leaders of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Thursday asserted that only their party had the vision, commitment, and track record to ensure justice, protection, and genuine empowerment of minorities in the state. Addressing a media interaction at Gandhi Bhavan here, the newly appointed TPCC Vice Presidents and General Secretaries praised the Congress government for its inclusive governance and historic welfare initiatives aimed at the socio-economic upliftment of minorities. The interaction was hosted by TPCC Official Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, who facilitated a dialogue between the media and the newly appointed Muslim office bearers. Prominent among those who participated were TPCC Vice Presidents Nawab Mujahed Alam Khan and Afser Yousuf Zai, along with General Secretaries Mohammed Abdul Faheem, Mohammed Asaduddin, Rahmath Hussain, and Mohammed Sabir Ali. 'This is not just a symbolic gesture but a clear sign of political will to address the long-standing neglect of the Muslim community,' said Mujahed Alam Khan. The leaders further elaborated on the series of welfare measures that have directly benefited the minority communities. Responding to criticisms by opposition parties, the newly appointed office bearers condemned what they described as a malicious campaign to defame the Congress government. 'The opposition is rattled by the popularity of Congress-led welfare initiatives and is resorting to baseless allegations. The truth is, Congress is delivering on its promises with honesty and transparency,' said Mohammed Asaduddin.
