Another popular series has hit the chopping block recently, as it was announced and confirmed that '
The Wheel Of Time
' will not be returning to the small screen after its third and now final season. The news has sent fans into a disappointed slump, as the show was cancelled even after being well received by the public.
Large streaming platform cuts 'The Wheel of Time'
The popular online series titled 'The Wheel Of Time' will no longer be getting any new episodes after its third season, as it becomes the series' final one. According to reports from Deadline, the show has officially been cancelled as of now and will not release any more content in the future. The show's reason for being cancelled after its third season has been cited as declining viewership ratings.
Fans have been extremely disappointed by the sudden decision, as the show had global popularity. The cancellation has been done according to viewership decline after the show dropped out of Nielsen's Top 10 Originals chart, even though this only represents the show's viewership in the U.S.
Global success did not justify high costs
According to the report, all aspects of the show were considered; however, the viewership and performance of 'The Wheel of Time' did not end up justifying its renewal for season 4 and onwards. It was shared that the show's current performance did not make up for the high costs that the studio and production houses had to go through to make the episodes.
Fans get upset and react to the sudden news online
As soon as it was confirmed that the show would not be getting renewed for a new season after the third one just dropped on April 17, fans immediately took to online social media platforms to express their disdain and disappointment on the matter.
One comment read that 'Just remembered we're never gonna see Nynaeve's true power in The Wheel of Time,' while another fan shared how another streaming platform should pick up the show 'The Wheel Of Time'. They shared in their online social media post that 'another streaming service should buy The Wheel of Time..'

Why Martin Scorsese No Longer Enjoys Watching Films In Theatres

Last Updated: Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese said that the experience of watching films in theatres has changed for the worse. The movie industry has been facing a crisis of sorts, with theatres struggling to attract audiences. Streaming platforms, high ticket prices, lack of originality, and distracted viewers have turned movie-watching into a passive, background activity. One might assume that filmmakers would stand firm in support of theatres. However, Martin Scorsese — the visionary behind Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, and The Irishman — has quietly distanced himself from this idea. It's not that he's lost faith in cinema, but rather that he believes the experience of watching films in cinemas has changed for the worse. In a recent open chat with his longtime friend and film critic Peter Travers, the Oscar-winning director shared why he no longer enjoys going to the movies in public. Travers recalled how Scorsese had vented his frustration over modern audiences—people constantly on their phones, getting up to buy snacks and oversized sodas, and making so much noise it drowns out the dialogue. Teasing the director, Travers added, 'Come on, Marty, we weren't exactly quiet in our youth either." Scorsese's tone turned serious. 'Maybe," he admitted, 'but when we talked, it was always about the movie—we were caught up in the magic of it." To escape the noise and crowds, Martin Scorsese has reportedly crafted a private screening room equipped with top-tier audio-visual gear, surrounded by vintage movie posters, shelves of rare memorabilia, and an archive of classics he frequently revisits. For Scorsese, this sanctuary isn't just about comfort — it's about preserving the purity of the viewing experience. Coming to Scorcese' work commitments, the director is set to reunite with Leonardo DiCaprio for his new project. The duo have worked together in several movies like Killers of the Flower Moon, The Aviator, The Departed, Gangs of New York, and The Wolf of Wall Street. The film will also feature Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson, Deadline reported. The untitled drama is centred around an aspiring mob boss' battle with rival crime factions to control organised crime in Hawaii. First Published: June 05, 2025, 17:46 IST

Octavia Spencer to reprise role in 'Ma' sequel

Blumhouse has announced that Oscar winner Octavia Spencer will return for a sequel to the 2019 horror film 'Ma.' The first movie, which reportedly grossed over USD 60 million worldwide, follows a lonely woman who befriends a group of teenagers, only to reveal a sinister intent. Jason Blum, Founder/CEO of Blumhouse, expressed excitement about the sequel and said, "Ma has proven to be a social phenomenon since its release in 2019, with fans eagerly embracing the film and Octavia's iconic performance as Ma," as quoted by Deadline. Blum added that the studio is thrilled to have Spencer reprise her role, referencing the film's catchphrase, "Don't make me drink alone." The announcement was made during Blumhouse's Business of Fear symposium, where the company discussed the growth and expansion of the horror genre. According to a research study commissioned by Blumhouse and reported by Deadline, horror productions have surged since the 1940s, with subgenres like Revenge, Survival, and Psychological Thriller entertaining diverse audiences. The study, which categorised 100 prominent horror films from the past 50 years, identified 24, including Revenge as one of the thriving subgenres. Wes Anderson reveals his unsuccessful attempts to cast Jodie Foster in multiple films

Washington [US], June 5 (ANI): Acclaimed director Wes Anderson, known for his quirky and star-studded ensemble casts, recently shared that he has tried, but failed, to cast actress Jodie Foster in several of his films over the years. The Oscar-winning director revealed that despite his repeated efforts, timing never seemed to align, preventing him from working with the legendary actress. According to Deadline, in a recent interview, Anderson admitted, "Over the years, I had so many movies that I tried to get Jodie Foster to be in." He explained that this was a recurring effort, with Foster being approached for roles in several films. "It used to be that every movie, we went to Jodie Foster for a part. And I think I did it three movies in a row, maybe four," Anderson recalled, speaking fondly of his admiration for the actress. "I met her, and I liked her. And I thought it was going to get her. And I think she's just great, Jodie Foster. And I loved her," he added, as quoted by Deadline. Despite his best efforts, Anderson's attempts to cast Foster were unsuccessful, and the timing never seemed right for both parties. The director went on to explain that sometimes the timing and type of work just don't match up. "I still would like to get Jodie Foster. But I guess after asking a few times, I thought maybe I'm not... I think sometimes somebody has an idea of the kind of work they want to do at that time in his or her life, and we weren't right," he said. Anderson did not specify which roles he envisioned for Foster. Anderson's most recent work, 'The Phoenician Scheme', marks his 13th feature film. The film is centred around Benicio del Toro, who plays Zsa-zsa Korda, a wealthy businessman. Korda becomes the target of a dangerous pursuit after appointing his nun daughter, Sister Liesl (Mia Threapleton), as the sole heir to his vast estate. The film has been released in theatres, garnering attention for its unique storytelling and star-studded cast, further cementing Anderson's signature style. Meanwhile, Jodie Foster made her debut in French cinema with 'Vie privee' (A Private Life). The film premiered last month at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, where The Phoenician Scheme was also in the running for the Palme d'Or. (ANI)
