Nebraska baseball evens series with Maryland in 7-2 Saturday night conference battle
Nebraska (20-23, 8-12) and Maryland (20-24, 6-14) faced off in game two of the conference series on Saturday night. The Huskers responded to their Friday defeat by taking down the Terrapins 7-2 in game two to even the series.
Like in Friday's loss, Nebraska took a lead over Maryland, but this time kept it. The Huskers entered the seventh up 5-0 before the Terrapins got on the board and only allowed two runs across the final third.
Nebraska finished with 11 hits for seven RBIs while Maryland chalked up two RBIs off eight hits.
Case Sanderson and Cayden Brumbaugh both finished a perfect 3-for-3 in the win, while also earning two walks and a double. Sanderson brought in three RBIs on the night, along with a home run and a single, falling a triple short of a cycle.
Brumbaugh earned two RBIs while Max Buettenback and Hogan Helligso recorded one RBI apiece.
Ty Horn (2-4) earned the win at the mound, starting the game and firing six shutout innings. Horn also struck out five batters and allowed six hits and two walks. Drew Christo pitched in the seventh coughing up a run before Casey Daiss closed out the final two innings with one run and two hits
Nebraska concludes the series on Sunday at noon CT on B1G+.

Baltimore Ravens have roster decisions to make after preseason finale this weekend

The Baltimore Ravens have some big decisions to make after they travel to the Washington Commanders on Saturday in the preseason finale. The rosters must soon be finalized. Plus, the players who are released can still be signed to the practice squad. "It's finalizing the roster, as far as who's on it, for sure," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said. "A lot of things are determined." Most of the Ravens' starting positions are locked in, and most of the key players won't play on Saturday. However, backups and special team players could still be decided. Or, the players in the preseason finale could be showcasing their play for other teams. "We certainly want to stay healthy," Harbaugh said. "That's a big part of it, too, but also [the amount of] spots, to a degree, but also roles, to a degree. Who's going to be active? Who's going to be playing these different roles in these different special teams packages, or who's going to rotate in at different positions? Then, the practice squad is up for major competition, as well." Teams have to announce their 53-player roster by 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26. Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will be on the Ravens roster. He returned to practice Tuesday after dealing with a knee injury. Cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis also returned to practice. Cornerback Jaire Alexander, fullback Patrick Ricard, linebacker Kyle Van Noy and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie were among the players who didn't practice on Monday. After the preseason finale, the Ravens will have two weeks before playing in Buffalo in the season opener. Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jarrett Johnson and Ozzie Newsome, the team's Executive Vice-President of Player Personnel, stopped by training camp on Monday in Owings Mills.

Watch Michigan State football WR Rodney Bullard talk transition from D2 to Big Ten

Michigan State football is in the middle of camp, preparing itself for the 2025 season, looking to have a big bounce back year for Jonathan Smith in year two of his tenure at Michigan State. On Monday, Smith spoke to the media, along with Courtney Hawkins and Nick Marsh, but to round out the media availability was veteran wide receiver Rodney Bullard. Bullard, a transfer from Valdosta State, is in his first year with the Spartans program. While Bullard has been standing out in camp, he made it a point that he is hungry to prove himself at the top level of college football, coming from the division two level. ESPN's Football Power Index gives Spartans slim chances of reaching bowl

The computers and numbers behind ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) are not high on the Spartans reaching a bowl game this season. While the Spartans' win total over/under is set at 5.5 (with some sports book juicing it to the over), the FPI rating system is giving Michigan State a less than 50-50 chance of reaching a bowl game this fall. According to a post from The Big Ten Huddle, the Spartans are given only a 31% chance to reach six wins to become bowl eligible. Among Big Ten teams, only Northwestern and Purdue have lower odds from FPI to reach a bowl game this season. Northwestern comes in at 27.8%, while Purdue is listed at a near impossible 1.8%. Michigan State is the only team from the Big Ten to not reach the postseason at least once in the last three years. The Spartans finished last season with a 5-7 record in year one under head coach Jonathan Smith, and are expecting a better record this upcoming season. The Spartans officially kick off the 2025 season on August 29 against Western Michigan. Kickoff from Spartan Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, with the game set to be televised on FS1.
