The Printa day ago

It was not immediately known where and in which hospital the 76-year-old former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister had been admitted.
'Halfway into our delegation's tour, Shri @ghulamnazad has had to be admitted to hospital. He is stable, under medical supervision, and will be undergoing some tests and procedures,' Panda, who is leading the delegation, said in a post on X.
Riyadh, May 27 (PTI) Former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is part of an all-party delegation to the Gulf region, has been admitted to a hospital and is now under medical supervision, BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda said on Tuesday.
Panda and Azad are part of one of the seven multi-party delegations India has tasked to visit 33 global capitals to reach out to the international community on Pakistan's designs and India's response to terror, especially in view of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
The delegation visited Bahrain from May 23 and Kuwait from May 25, with Azad taking part in meetings with leaders in both nations.
Azad's contributions to the meetings in Bahrain and Kuwait were highly impactful, and he is disappointed at being bedridden, Panda said.
'We will deeply miss his presence in Saudi Arabia and Algeria,' said Panda, who arrived in the Saudi capital on Tuesday along with the delegation.
Apart from Azad and Panda, the group includes Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma (all BJP), Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM), Satnam Sandhu (nominated), and former foreign secretary Harsh Shringla.
During the visit, the delegation will interact with a cross-section of political dignitaries, government officials, thought leaders and members of the Indian community.
India carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7 under Operation Sindoor, following which Pakistan attempted to attack the Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10. The Indian side responded strongly to the Pakistani actions. PTI ZH GRS GRS GRS

Supreme Court extends Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad's interim bail till July 3rd week

Credit: PTI NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Wednesday extended till July third week the interim bail granted to Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad, who had been arrested for alleged objectionable social media posts during Operation Sindoor . However, the court declined to relax the condition gagging him on issues relating to two FIRs against him that SIT is probing, saying, "We do not want him to run a parallel commentary on the issues under investigation". The court asked SIT to confine its probe to these issues after Mahmudabad's lawyer feared that its ambit may be expanded. "Why do you have to go left and right... Where's the need to check the devices (of Mahmudabad)? Don't try to expand the scope of the two FIRs... SIT is free to form its opinion, but do not deviate from the task," SC said and posted the hearing in July second week. Apex court asks SIT to submit a copy of investigation report Appearing for Mahmudabad, senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Sidharth Luthra repeatedly pleaded with a partial working day bench of Justices Surya Kant and Dipankar Datta for relaxation of the 'gag order' while promising that the Oxford educated professor would not indulge in the kind of writing which attracted two FIRs and which the bench had called "dog whistling" during the last hearing. Sibal repeated his request several times. "Mahmudabad will not write anything relating to the issues involved in the two FIRs. Let that condition be deleted from the May 21 order by which the petitioner was granted interim bail. He is a mature person and Oxford educated. This is my earnest request. He knows where he landed because of the writings. I am beseeching you to delete the condition as it does not look nice," he said. He failed to persuade the bench, which said, "He needs to wait for some time. You (Sibal) remind us of this during the next hearing. The condition is confined to the contents of the FIRs. We do not want him to run a parallel commentary on the issues under investigation." Haryana's additional advocate general told the court that the SIT, comprising three IPS officers - ADGP Mamta Singh, SP (Karnal) Ganga Ram Punia and SP (STF, Gurgaon) Vikrant Bhushan - has been constituted and the investigation was on track. SC asked the SIT to submit to it a copy of the probe report after filing it before the jurisdictional court.

NTR not just name, but soul of telugu pride, says Naidu

Kadapa: 'NTR is not just three letters; he is the soul of Telugu self-respect and a sweet memory forever etched in the hearts of the poor,' stated TDP National President and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, addressing a massive gathering on second day of Mahanadu on Wednesday. Paying floral tributes to NTR's statue on his 102nd birth anniversary, the Chief Minister described NTR as a transformational leader, who redefined power as service and society as sacred. 'NTR declared that rulers are not masters but servants. He transformed governance with the powerful ideal that 'society is the temple, and the people are gods',' the CM said. He called NTR Jayanthi a festival for all Telugu people and pledged to realise his dream of a poverty-free society. 'Only the Telugu Desam Party, inspired by NTR's ideals, can achieve this vision,' he asserted. Describing NTR's journey from a humble government employee to a towering figure in both cinema and politics, CM Chandrababu said, 'No other individual has ruled two domains with such supremacy. NTR was not just a movie star or political leader—he was a historic phenomenon.' Despite hardships, NTR built his life on self-discipline, integrity, and perseverance. His life was a source of inspiration and continues to instil confidence in generations of Telugu people. 'NTR meant assurance to the poor, friendship to farmers, courage to the distressed, and support to women and workers,' the CM said. He entered politics not for power, but to repay the people who made him a star. At 60, he launched a political revolution that altered the landscape of Indian democracy forever. He replaced dynastic politics and corruption with a clean, welfare-oriented alternative and famously said: 'Power is responsibility, not privilege.' Naidu highlighted the enduring legacy of the yellow party flag introduced by NTR: 'It symbolises welfare, self-respect, and future aspirations of the Telugu people.' From Rs 2/kg rice, Janata clothes, and free housing to pensions, affordable power for farmers, mid-day meals, property rights for women, and irrigation projects—NTR brought revolutionary reforms that remain benchmarks today. He also introduced landmark reforms like abolishing the Patel–Patwari system, launching the Single Window policy, and introducing reservations for BCs and women in local bodies. As TDP completes 43 years since its founding on March 29, 1982, the CM affirmed the party's renewed commitment to NTR's ideals. 'With the 2024 people's mandate, we are moving from destruction to development.' Chandrababu concluded his speech with a powerful pledge: 'Our movement to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality will be our true tribute to NTR. The Six Guarantees and My Telugu Family initiatives will be game changers. With NTR's blessings, by 2047, Telugu people will shine on the world stage.'
