Water leak temporarily closes town's library

Yahoo28-03-2025
Grimsby Central Library has been forced to close temporarily after water leaked onto the premises following a period of rainfall overnight this week.
North East Lincolnshire Council said an inspection revealed urgent remedial work was needed and the service would be "relocated as soon as possible".
Both the authority and operator Lincs Inspire have apologised for "any inconvenience".
The council was to spend £4.2m on refurbishing the library but in January, a North East Lincolnshire Council meeting revealed most of the money earmarked on the revamp had been spent on the town's Freshney Place development.
People have been urged to use services at Cleethorpes Library, Immingham Library, and Waltham Library and the online facility continues to be available.
Those who are due to return books have been asked to drop them off at an alternative branch until a suitable arrangement has been confirmed.
Lincs Inspire is working with the Credit Union to ensure its continued service, the authority has said.

Here are some of our favourites. Find out how to join in with Weather Watchers here. Or send your photos to Look North. Please also ensure you take your pictures safely and responsibly. Drought declared across Yorkshire

A drought has been declared across Yorkshire by the Environment Agency. It follows weeks of unusually dry weather in the region, leading to low water levels in reservoirs and rivers. The announcement comes after England experienced its driest spring in more than 100 years, beaten only by 1893, according to the Met Office. Yorkshire last experienced a drought in 2022, when a hosepipe ban was also put in place. Listen to highlights from West Yorkshire on BBC Sounds, catch up with the latest episode of Look North.
