Revenue for the second quarter was up 18% year over year, and annualized recurring revenue from the software-as-a-service platform climbed at a faster 21% rate. Earnings per share came in a penny better than expected as Cellebrite celebrated rising margins from its effectiveness in controlling costs and making the most of sales growth. A dollar-based net retention rate of 120% signaled that existing clients are making greater use of Cellebrite's services. CEO Tom Hogan pointed to Cellebrite's plans to acquire virtualization technology specialist Corellium and its collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice as important factors that could expand the scope of its business. The Corellium deal hasn't yet gotten final approval, though, so Cellebrite hasn't incorporated its potential impact into guidance. As for Hogan, the once-interim CEO has formally been named to fill the role permanently. Cellebrite's board chair had kind words to say about Hogan's experience and leadership. Joining Hogan will be David Barter, who will take over the CFO role from the retiring Dana Gerner. Immediate Market Reaction Investors were generally pleased with Cellebrite's news. The stock moved higher by almost 5% in premarket trading during the first 45 minutes after the release of its financial report. Both sales and earnings were higher than most of those following Cellebrite had anticipated, which was likely the biggest contributor to the upward move. Even so, it's important to put the modest move into context. Cellebrite's stock soared during late 2024 and into the beginning of 2025, but since their February peak, the shares had lost roughly half their value at their worst levels. Signs of a rebound are encouraging, though, and Cellebrite hopes that future results will validate investors' confidence. What to Watch Cellebrite's guidance for the third quarter and for the full 2025 year doesn't show a huge acceleration of sales growth. Annualized recurring revenue is likely to rise to between $435 million and $445 million next quarter and to between $460 million and $475 million by year-end. Third-quarter revenue of $121 million to $126 million would be 13% to 18% higher than in the year-ago period. Full-year 2025 sales of $465 million to $475 million would represent growth of 16% to 18%. Those are all solid numbers. However, in some investors' eyes, they don't represent the full potential of Cellebrite's business. We look forward to seeing whether Hogan, in his permanent CEO role, can light a fire under Cellebrite and build further momentum toward a full recovery in the stock. Why the Google Antitrust Ruling Could Deal a Blow to Apple's Profits

Key Points Apple stock is surging on tariff-related news right now, but an upcoming legal ruling could bode badly for the "Magnificent Seven" company. This month, Apple could lose an important source of revenue from the fallout of the ruling. The potential revenue loss likely isn't factored into Apple's current valuation. 10 stocks we like better than Apple › Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) shares have been trending higher lately due to news that has assuaged investor concerns about the impact of recent tariff hikes on profitability. However, there's another possible risk to Apple's future profitability that few are talking about: the Google antitrust ruling. Make no mistake: The judge's ruling could negatively affect Google's search market dominance. In turn, this could be bad news for shares in Google's parent company, Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: GOOGL). Then again, at least for Alphabet, alongside these potential negative consequences is the potential for the judge's decision to serve as a catalyst for Alphabet stock in the coming years. Unfortunately, there's no such silver lining for Apple. Instead, the iPhone maker faces the prospect of losing some or all of a key revenue source. Following the judge's decision, if this risk becomes more apparent, it could lead to a new round of volatility for Apple stock. The Google antitrust ruling, potential remedies, and an impending final decision Back in 2020, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a civil suit against Alphabet's Google subsidiary. The suit alleged that some of Google's practices, such as search engine exclusivity agreements with device makers such as Apple, were monopolistic and anticompetitive. This suit, known as United States v. Google LLC (2020), went to trial in September 2023, and in August 2024, Judge Amit Mehta ruled in the DOJ's favor. Post-verdict, both the DOJ and Google submitted proposed remedies to address Google's practices deemed anticompetitive. These proposals were presented in a separate remedies case held last spring. The DOJ's proposal called for some pretty severe remedies, including an end to Google's search exclusivity deal with Apple, as well as divestitures of Google's Chrome browser and Android mobile operating system businesses. Google, on the other hand, has proposed milder remedies. For instance, changes such as allowing customers to choose whether to make Google the default search engine on a device. This month, Judge Mehta is expected to issue his final ruling on the remedies. If he rules in favor of a search exclusivity ban, such news could lead to a big drop in Apple's annual earnings. Why the final ruling could reduce Apple's profits by double digits As discussed earlier, there may be a silver lining in all of this for Alphabet. Even a ruling that calls for a divestiture of Chrome and Android could bode well for Alphabet stock in the long term. As analysts at D.A. Davidson recently argued, a breakup of Alphabet into separate companies could unlock significant value. Per the analysts, Alphabet's breakup value could be as much as $304 per share. That represents a more than 54% premium to the current GOOG stock price. On the other hand, Apple could lose a little or a lot from this pending decision. According to J.P. Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee, Google pays Apple around $28 billion per year for search traffic generated from Apple devices. Of that figure, around $12.5 billion comes from U.S.-based customers. These payments likely have a nearly 100% gross margin. Over the past 12 months, Apple has had an effective income tax rate of around 24%. This suggests that if the judge's decision includes an end to the search exclusivity deal, this would reduce Apple's annual earnings by $9.5 billion, or around 12%. The impact of this wouldn't be immediate. Google is likely to appeal the judge's remedy decision. Still, based on Apple's current valuation, the market currently assumes Apple's Google search revenue stream is not under threat. If this changes, it could lead to volatility for shares. What This Means for Apple Stock in the Near-Term Currently, Apple stock trades for around 31 times forward earnings. Although this valuation may seem reasonable relative to similar "Magnificent Seven" stocks, like Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), in my view, Apple is overvalued, given the risks. Why? Historically, Apple has traded for between 25 and 30 times earnings. At today's higher valuation, investors are likely expecting factors like Apple's recent increase in its artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure investments to drive higher earnings growth going forward. However, the impact of an end to Apple's search exclusivity agreement with Google could counter the benefit of its AI-related growth. Even if the judge accepts Google's milder remedy proposal, this may still lead to a reduction of Apple's Google search revenue, which would still likely affect overall earnings growth. If the judge's decision suggests any future impact on this key revenue stream, the market could react negatively, so I'm sticking to the sidelines for now. US stock futures fell on Thursday as Wall Street digested a hotter-than-expected inflation print, souring optimism around a September rate cut. Futures attached to the Dow Jones Industrial Average (YM=F) and the benchmark S&P 500 (ES=F) both fell around 0.4%. Those on the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 (NQ=F) also lost 0.4%. July's Producer Price Index (PPI) came in much hotter than expected, with prices rising 0.9% compared to expectations of 0.2%. On an annual basis, prices rose 3.3%, the most since February. "Core" producer prices, which strip out the cost of food and energy, rose by the most in three years. The inflation shock looked set to sap the enthusiasm of a roaring market this week. Stocks extended their rally Wednesday, pushing the S&P 500 and Nasdaq to consecutive record highs. Bitcoin got a boost from mounting rate-cut bets, too, reaching a new record high Wednesday evening before scaling back on those gains. Euphoria over a possible September rate cut had swept Wall Street over the past two sessions after July's Consumer Price Index report showed inflation rose as expected, but not dramatically. Traders had fully priced in a rate cut at the Fed's next meeting, even as some Fed policymakers continue to urge patience. On Thursday morning, investors had once again shifted some bets to a rate hold next month. Friday's release on July's retail sales numbers will this week's final economic data point. In corporate news, cryptocurrency exchange operator Bullish (BLSH) rose over 10% on Thursday before the bell, hovering around $77, more than double its IPO price of $37. Bitcoin, ethereum trade near record highs as Wall Street grows bullish on crypto Bitcoin (BTC-USD) saw modest gains to trade at $120,807 on Thursday morning, but the crypto was about 2% off its record high of $123,500 on Wednesday. As Yahoo Finance's Ines Ferré detailed, inflows into spot exchange-traded funds and public companies adding bitcoin to their balance sheets have been key drivers of this year's token rally. Strategists also point to the Trump administration's pro-crypto stance as a major catalyst. Evercore ISI analyst Michael Montani with some good thoughts this morning: I don't hate this Cisco quarter Cisco (CSCO) is always a tricky play around its earnings report. The company isn't a fast grower, and what the Street focuses on tends to shift from quarter to quarter. Sometimes it's profit margins, sometimes it's product orders, sometimes it's the outlook. Going through the latest, I don't hate the quarter and outlook. Gross margins were up across the board, and the AI narrative and numbers were solid as well. There was some weakness in the security business, as expected, but the demand drivers out there suggest new full-year guidance could be conservative. "We think investors should look past Public Sector weakness, which likely hurt Security growth, given the opportunity around Hyperscaler/Enterprise AI, Neoclouds, and Sovereign could quickly offset the weakness. We continue to like Cisco for these drivers of growth, and when paired with a mix shift toward software/subscription over time, healthy free cash flow growth, and shareholder returns, we believe a premium to historical valuations is warranted," KeyBanc analyst Brandon Nispel said. Cryptocurrency exchange operator Bullish (BLSH) rose 8% on Thursday before the bell, reaching $75, doubling its IPO price of $37 and valuing the company at more than $10 billion. Still, this marked around a 16% drop from where the stock opened for trade. Bullish stock opened for trade at $90 near 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, and the stock traded hands as high as $118 per share shortly after, a more than 215% gain. The stock was halted for trade due to volatility at least twice within the first few minutes of trading. The company, which operates a crypto exchange and owns the prominent trade publication CoinDesk, priced its IPO at $37 per share on Tuesday, above the $32 to $33 range the company had expected in its second shot at making a public market debut. Bullish began its IPO processes looking for a price between $28 to $31 per share. At 30 million shares offered, the IPO price saw Bullish raise $1.1 billion and value the fintech company at $5.41 billion. Bullish first attempted to go public via a SPAC merger in 2021 that would have valued the company at $9 billion, but the deal fell through after regulatory scrutiny and Bullish withdrew its registration.
